    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: small, digital image stabilization, many ports, stereo mic ins.

    Weaknesses:defects.

    Overall Evaluation: Just wanted to add my experience- my GRDF450 stopped working at about 9 months after almost no use. I called JVC, sent it in, and they fixed it for free. But will it just die again in another several months? I feel ripped off after hearing all the same stories from almost everyone who bought one- I think JVC should recall them and give us all the next model up, one that works. Or they should warranty them for 10 years free, something like that. I'm going to write them and see what I can do, maybe call the BBB... Hope you kept your receipt.

    Overall Evaluation: I bought this camera about a year and a half ago. It worked great for my disney vacation. It sat for 6 months until I pulled it out for my daughters first ski lesson and then I got the infamous lens cap error. Sent it back because I purchased an extended warranty and they fixed it. It worked again but then it sat for another 8 months until I pulled it out this past Christmas and guess what? the infamous lens cap error again. Now I have to send it back once again for repair. I will get it fixed but will also buy a new one. I can't take the risk of missing important video footage. JVC sucks and I will never buy a product from them again.

    Strengths: lightweight,compact

    Weaknesses:lens cap error after 14 months of light usage

    Overall Evaluation: I bought this camcorder based on the reviews, after 14 months I got the "Lens Cap" error. JVC absolutly refused to fix it, eventhough they have a recall on other models with the same problem. I wil never buy another JVC unit in my life again.Jay, New York

    Weaknesses:Bad Design and Horrible Customer Service

    Overall Evaluation: I'm another victim of the JVC Ripoff, only used this camera for less than 8 hours total and it has the infamous "Lens Cap" error, like many, many others. They refuse to repair the unit under warranty, their customer service is beyond horrible. They don't care at all what you think and call you a liar when you tell them the unit has hardly been used before it failed. I will never, never purchase another JVC product the rest of my life, nor will anyone that I can talk to within earshot of me. Warning!!! Don't ever expect them to do anything for you if you buy their product. They need to be sent a message that you can't treat customers like this and expect to stay in business. JVC SUCKS! Stay away!!!

    Strengths: Good low light, easy to use.

    Weaknesses:Focus problems, things too white, comes with small battery

    Overall Evaluation: It tends to hunt for focus sometimes in outdoor and indoor situations which can happen during that important moment. Also when filming outdoors clothes and objects that have sun on them loose their detail and become bright, this especially happens to white things. I liked its filming indoors which gave really good colour and very little grain. You need a bigger 2nd battery but I suppose all camcorders are like this. If the camera didn't have the focus and white light problem, it would be a fantastic buy. I'm about to ring up JVC and find out what the story is.
