The 4 GB Slacker Portable Radio Player from Slacker plays all of your personalized Slacker Radio stations everywhere you go. It lets you play up to 25 Slacker stations and also lets you switch radio stations in and out of your device at any time. You can connect to the Slacker music library over Wi-Fi when in wireless range, or over USB when attached to an Internet connected PC. Instead of live streaming of songs, the player quickly fills itself up with personally selected music each time you connect. Slacker's portable music player and Web service let you take your favorite music with you and discover similar artists, too.

After a few delays and a lot of grassroots hype, the Slacker Portable Internet radio is finally available. Starting at $200 for the 2GB model, this ambitious music-only device features a 4-inch wide screen, built-in Wi-Fi, and an excellent Web service. The Slacker deserves credit for approaching issues of form and function in its own way--it borrows almost nothing from the iPod--but it's also blocky, buggy, slow, and more than a bit frustrating.
