The OCZ Technology OCZ OCZSSD2-2C120G,the Core Series SSD V2 will be available in up to a massive 250GB capacity and delivers enhanced speeds of up to 170 MB/s read and 98 MB/s write speeds with an improved seek time of less than 0.2-0.3ms, making the Core V2 significantly faster when it comes to both Read/Write and seek-time performance. The addition of a mini-USB port also makes it possible for customers in the field to update the Core V2?s firmware should become available, to further enhance compatibility or performance with future platforms. The OCZ Core Series V2 delivers additional performance and reliability of the latest SSDs. The Core Series is ideal for an energy-efficient mobile or a RAID configured desktop to provide blazing speeds and advanced access and seek times. With even greater capacities up to 250GB, Core Series V2 now offers sufficient storage for large media files.

Duration of ownership: 2 Days

Strengths: Awesome read speed

Weaknesses:Poor write speed

Overall Evaluation: At first I was really impressed with the speed improvement of this drive over the 7200 RPM laptop drive I was using.However the more I used it, the more I started noticing these long periods of time where my computer would seem to freeze. The more I used my computer normally, the worse the stuttering got. I finally got on the OCZ web site and found out that many people were having the same problem. I tried a few tweaks that were listed and none of them have helped. I had to disable my swap file to get the system to even be usable.I'm gettin no where near what OCZ has listed for the transfer rates. My write speed must be abysmal. The system will hang for 3-10 seconds if you try to do any multitasking. Read speed is between 25-90MB/s.Apparently the problem is a combination of running the drive on an "old" chipset (Dell D820, 1 year old), and the nature of how this drive works.What's worse is that OCZ is telling everyone that if their not happy, they should have done their research before buying. Thanks! This will be the last OCZ product I buy.
