Strengths: Excellent color and B&W copies. The setup was easy. Canon has provided excellent customer service when I called.

Weaknesses: Slow to warm up. Requires frequent referral to the manual when changing settings.

Overall Evaluation: I have been using the unit for over 30 days and so far it is every bit as good as advertised. The main negative point is that the operation of the unit requires more manual referencing than my old HP aio.

Strengths: Very capable printer. I do like the networking functionality. It interfaces well with my Linksys equipment.

    Weaknesses: No duplexing capability.

Overall Evaluation: I received a Canon ImageClass as a Christmas present to replace my old Samsung B&W laser. It was DOA when it arrived. It would not work at all. I had to call Canon's Tech Support for help and they were very responsive and sent out a technician to my house. Despite the face that the technician sent had no formal training in this type of laser printer (he told me he only received a CD from Canon as "training") he was able to fix the problem. He had to make two trips to my house in order to fix the problem. Two circuit/control boards were dead, so he replaced them. Ever since then, the printer has ran like a champ! That plus the fact that the printer has no duplex ability (for the price, you'd think Canon would include it) kept me from giving the printer four stars.

    Strengths:

Weaknesses: -Warmup time is extremely slow. It does not have a power switch. Ethernet setup is kind of hassel

Overall Evaluation: I bought this laser printer in last dec 2005. The reason I bought it was it is using laser technology and it does save me tons of money comparing to laser jet printers. The text and color copies are just great. Each time to print, it takes about 3 minutes to print out the first page. If you do not use it for a couple minutes, it will go to sleep mode and the next print will take us another 3 minutes.

Strengths: Actually on paper everything was great.Almost everything on my machine failed in one way or another.Four months of frustration;thank God that I bought the extended warranty so took it back today.

Weaknesses: First product of its kind from a very good company;needs refinment, slow, energy guzzler and did not meet printing effency that was quoted ,paper jams etc etc.

Overall Evaluation: Wait till next year and see if either HP or Cannon can produce color copies under 30 cents each.Otherwise stay with a machine that costs a third of the price.

    Duration of ownership:3 Days

Strengths: makes great copies as good as the originals!

    Weaknesses: slow warm up time

Overall Evaluation: I just received this product a few days ago. Setup was very easy. This is a great machine if you are looking for an all in one laser multipurpose machine. Copies are crisp and the colors are true to the original. Faxing is very simple to use as well as scanning and printing. It comes with a network card already installed. I would recommend this machine for anyone needing a multipurpose machine. Since is it a laser toner, you will be pleased with the added savings of not having to replace inkjet cartridges every few hundred pages. You will be very satisfied with this machine.

    Duration of ownership:2 Days

Strengths: Easy set up. Crisp, professional text printouts. Lovely color images.

Weaknesses: Slower at printing documents than most laser printers I've used. Doesn't support Caller ID.

Overall Evaluation: This is the first multi-function machine I have ever purchased. When it arrived, I was a little intimidated at the prospect of setting it up by myself. Setting it up could not have been easier, although finding an appropriate stand for it turned out to be a hassle. I've ended up using a big square wood coffee table for now. The print quality is excellent. I did a lot of researching before I chose this printer. I splurged on this machine because it is a Canon product, because the warranty includes on site service and because it seems like a piece of equipment that will continue to meet my needs as my small home business grows (I hope). The weaknesses I've listed are (1)that it is a bit slower than your average B&W laser printer; but, so long as its faster than any inkjet, it's fast enough for my needs. (2)For my caller ID service to work, had to disconnect the Caller ID Device from the MFP and use an additional Filter for Single Line Phones.
