Strengths: Display
Weaknesses: OVERHEATS!! Needs a fan to work!
Overall Evaluation: I have worked with MANY networking devices, but this one was one of the trickiest! Out of the box it runs well, but after 2-3 hours of use, it halts! Even when you reboot every device connected to the network, it will still stop working!! After I TOUCHED the box after one of the times it halted, I saw why. The device was as hot as a frying pan. Recommendation, place a small fan near the box and make sure all sides are well ventilated. As far as Belkin is concerned, why was this not tested in REAL WORLD CONDITIONS?

Weaknesses: reliabilitysupportfeatures
Overall Evaluation: Easy to set up, but crashes all the time, needs reset every day. Also range is not that good. Nortel PVN does not work and Belkin support is not answering emails concernig it. I guess they don't have a fix. This is the last Belkin product I ever bought.

Strengths: Looks great, easy to set up using the supplied CD (ONLY!), LED display very helpful
Weaknesses: Crashes when turning on security, MAC-control, disable SSID broadcast will not accept @ in user-name
Overall Evaluation: Warranty replacement. The first replacement arrived. I connected via Ethernet and use my web browser to connect to their set-up page, without a problem. My DSL provider, BellSouth/AT&T, uses "connection type" PPPoE. When trying to enter my user name I kept getting a "ULR error", the router would not accept the @ symbol in the user name field. This prevented me from being able to connect to the Internet. After approximately 6 phone calls, I was still unable to get the router connected to the Internet. I became committed to finding the problem myself; I couldn't bear a 7th call. I inserted the "Setup Assistant" CD, supplied with the router. After a couple of clicks I was connected! I scratched my head? puzzled? why was I unable to change connection types through my web browser? Still puzzled by this unanswered question? I proceeded to TRY and set the security the same way it was on my Pre-N. The first thing I attempted to do was block the "SSID" address from being broadcast. It worked so well? my computer couldn't find the network. In order to reestablish a wireless connection, I had to "restore factory settings" and restart the router. After a half dozen attempts I gave up? so much for that security feature.Unable to hide my network, the next thing I attempted to due was set security through the "Security Mode" feature. Regardless of which option I selected? I was unable to connect too any of my four wireless computers, Mac OS X Tiger or PC Windows XP (both up to date). The only way to reestablish a connection was to "restore factory settings" and restart the router? what fun? what joy! Left with no other choice I called Belkin customer support? AGAIN! After several attempts and 5 hours on this problem, Belkin finally concluded the router was defective and sent a replacement. Tired of waiting I went to a local store and purchased the same model. After all? what are the odds of having two defective routers? Apparently100%. In the meantime we are now left with an unsecured wireless network that we rely on for online banking and paying bills? not very comforting. This time Belkin convinced me the problem is with my Internet provider. After investing two hours with BellSouth on the phone? they sent a service technician. When connecting directly from the modem to my computer via Ethernet we had no problem connecting. Establishing an Internet connection was not an issue. We are now certain the problem is with the router. Five days later the third router showed up? and I started all over again. With each replacement, I attempted to search for new firmware, with no luck. Each time I logged on to the ?router setup? page using the ? firmware update? option I received the following message ?There is no new firmware update available for this Router! ?. By this time I had learned my lesson, I was no longer willing to waste my time by talking to anyone lower than level 2 support. This time after only two calls? I was directed to the recently posted firmware. The firmware was posted one week earlier, but could not be located when using the ? firmware update? option on the router setup page. After updating the firmware I was able to block the "SSID" address from being broadcast and do my online banking. Now at least my Mac?s can use the wireless connection, still without security, the PC drops the connection within 5 minutes. This never happened with the two prior units. Another thing I noticed with this model is the wireless signal doesn?t seem to be as strong. That may be an unfair observation since I have never had a device that function properly.A part of the consideration in making the choice to buy a Belkin product was the fact that it comes with a ?Lifetime Warranty? and customer support. With this model it may very well take a ?lifetime? of customer support to get it working. What good is a ?Lifetime Warranty? if the replacement option doesn?t work!!!!!

Strengths: Works good when it works!
Weaknesses: Died after 2 months!
Overall Evaluation: The router seemed to work rather well while it lasted and the web interface was better than my last D-Link router. However, I've had it only 2 months and it has now died. It will now connect only about 25 seconds at a time with a period of about 25 seconds without connection. I rather like the product but the fact that it died after only 2 months is rather disconcerting and I'm unsure if I'll buy Belkin again. I bought the USB N1 adapter at the same time and it didn't work properly from the day I got it. Luckily, it was within the stores 30 return period. Belkin appears to have some quality issues. Wait until they've been resolved.

Strengths: Very easy setup and use.
Weaknesses: Not as powerful distance wise as the Belkin pre n.
Overall Evaluation: If I had the choice which I do I would go with the Belkin pre n, but if I am going around 75 feet. I would use the Belkin N1. These Belkin routers are the BEST far none than everthing else out there. I have tried them all, including those waste of time distance amp antennas. If you want a router that will ALWAYS connect with no drop outs the Belkin is what you want.

Strengths: Exceptionally easy to install and configure; super-fast wireless connections all over the house.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Overall Evaluation: I got this wireless router (along with Belkin's N1 desktop card) for Christmas. I am writing this review on Christmas evening. The Belkin N1 much better priced than the Linksys draft-n routers. The router and desktop card were easy to install and the setup wizards were easy to follow. It took less than an hour altogether and I was up and running. Additionally, my son and daughter got Dell laptops for Christmas with pre-installed wireless cards. These worked perfectly with the new Belkin N1 router. Amazing! We're all online wirelessly, and the connection is as fast or faster than our previous wired router. I love this router. Thank you Belkin.

Strengths: Very easy setup, Provides fast internet speed and great signal!
Weaknesses: Very expensive router, Disconnect the internet from time to time, and had to be reset too often
Overall Evaluation: I bought this router based on the review that it had been recieved. I thought it would give the faster speed to my internet speed. Well, it did not give me any faster speed, but it did not slow down either. Basically, it provides the same speed that I used to have without having this router. I might have misunderstood that it would be able to surf the internet at faster than 54g even if I have an 54g adapter. I expected too much from this router. That was I wasted so much money on this 150 dollars router! When I tried to do the research for N router I did not know that there were also other companies who also made similar product at the cheaper prices. I wish I were able to do more research before I got this product on hand.

Strengths: Good Throughput, Slick design, some hackability (ability to enable BusyBox sessions)
Weaknesses: Slow web interface, LED status ocassionally incorrect, range (when matched with the N1 card) is inferior to that of the Pre-N router
Overall Evaluation: Good, but I would recommend opting for Pre-N instead. Lacks configurability, inferior range (to that of the Pre-N router and card), and slow web interface. Finally, the price, $150 is way too steep. After owning this router for ~3 weeks, I retyurned it and purchased the Belkin Pre-N pakcage- which included a Pre-N card AND router for only $100. In combination, they demonstrated a HUGE increase in range and reliability.High points include a sleek design, promising throughput, WPA2 encryption support, and hackability (discovered a way to enable busy-box sessions through telnet).
