Strengths: Picture, ease of use, # & types of inputs/outputs

    Weaknesses: Audio is average

Overall Evaluation: This TV is amazing. It has buttons to quickly adjust the color levels to Vivid, Standard, Cinema, or custom and easily change wide and zoom views. The PIP is great how you can resize and toggle the audio between the two. SD even looks great on this TV compared to my friends HD that looks grainy. The audio seems fine, I can't tell the difference with the virtual surround sound and other audio features I enabled compared to regular TV audio. It all sounds the same. Overall the picture is smooth. I did notice slight ghosting when set to Vivid (or the brightness is all the way up) when there are fast or fast dark images. When I changed the color setting I didn't notice it anymore. I first connected the cable coax directly in the TV and the cable signal got analog and digital cable channels, music channels, and only the network HD channels. It was confusing the way the channels numbers were all over the map and some were 113.1, 113.2, etc. Some channels it was able to pull info like the station id, show name, and show length, but most it didn't. I then used the cable box with coax and that worked a lot better and the rest of the HD channels I was expecting came in. Then I traded in my cable box for an HDMI cable box and the picture is perfect through that connection. I couldn't ask for anything else in an HD TV than what this Sony offers.

Overall Evaluation: This is a great television set, beautiful picture, feature-rich and unmatched by the competition for the same amount of money spent. Watching a live sporting event, it feels as if you are right there in the stands. Outstanding value.

Strengths: Integrated Digital and Analog tunners, 1080p, sharp picture

Weaknesses: SD picture does not show great.

Overall Evaluation: I got this set in after thanks-giving sale. Setting up the TV was a breeze. The picture quality is great form HD source. Color is crisp, the audio is good. Since this set is not 120Hz, fast sports may not play well on this set, but I did not see that problem. The only complaint I have is that picture quality of SD sources is not very good and considering that we still have quite a few SD components, this can be a problem.

Strengths: 3 HDMI 1.3 ports, Backlit Remote, Picture, Picture, Picture

Weaknesses: 3rd hdmi port is on the side

Overall Evaluation: I love this tv. My Wife bought me a Sony KDL-40V2500 as an anniverary gift 6 months ago and I love it so when it came time to get another tv I knew at the top of my list was Sony. I waited for the black friday deals and saw Sears had the KDL40W3000 as a doorbuster for $1399. The 2 big things this tv had over the V2500 was a 3rd hdmi port and it is hdmi 1.3 which my Onkyo 605 receiver is also 1.3 so even though it currently doesn't do anything for me I wanted to get 1.3 just in case. I took the v2500 and put it in my bedroom and put the w3000 in its place in the family room. I really can't tell any difference in the picture between the 2 as they're both outstanding. I think the w3000 may have less motion blur than the v2500 but that's it. I watched the Red Wings hockey game last night in HD and it's just amazing how clear the puck shows up on the screen. In SD I was always searching for the puck but not now. I'd recommend this tv to anyone and I'm sure I'll be buying Sony televisions again.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: sharp picture, nice design, three HDMI ports, excellent TV for AppleTV box

Weaknesses: I expected better sound from this kind of TV, no captions on remote for DVD Player

Overall Evaluation: I spent quite some time researching HDTVs, and finally set up on Sony Bravia 40KDL line, but the earlier models (according to reviews) had rather unpleasant problems (clouds on dark scenes, two HDMI ports, etc). Finally Sony came up with the model W3000 which completely covers all my needs. I tested PAL and NTSC DVDs, and was pretty satisfied with the picture quality. I connected my AppleTV and was thrilled with HD picture quality. Well, a minor disappointment was rather bad sound from iTunes coming through AppleTV's streaming via built-in speakers. I guess I have to look for a descent sound system. The good news is that the TV box has the ports for the receiver as well.

    Duration of ownership:2 Days

Strengths: Many, but Its biggest strength is its brightness combined with real life color, hands down nothing can match the SONY LCD's as of right now, wheather its the V, W, or XBR series...

Weaknesses: Just one, LCD's have a response time, plasmas dont, this W-series Sony has allllmost flawless speed, but thats why Sony has the XBR line for its 120mhz response time, no manufacture compares

Overall Evaluation: Never been a huge fan of Sony, so when I came out looking for TV's, and didn't think I would walk away with a Sony, but I did and I'm really happy so far. I knew Sony had put a lot of money and interest in its LCD division in the last few years so much they halted their whole plasma division so I knew the were gonna have some **** good LCD's. But what was I gonna get a Plasma or LCD, I own a 720p Panasonic Plasma, so I like Plasma's but a lot its been happening with LCD's, and then 720p or 1080p, 40",42",46",50",, samsung, panasonic, sony, its really confusing what to buy, even more so cause certain broadcasters transmit in 720p others 1080p, then videogames xbox360/ps3 are now 1080p but most games that come out are 720p esp. Gears and the Halo3:], then Blue Ray or HD-DVD's, you get my drift, but at the end of the day this Television is the best buy your gonna find, 1080p=worst comes to worst it downplays to 720p plus HD-DVDs and BLU-Ray look the best and its got some future proof on it. LCD= Sony's new generation of LCD's look better than any Plasma I saw in stores, its hard to tell 1080p between 720p plasmas, not so much with LCD's, plus like i stated earlier SONY LCD's have such true color its sorta scary, the nature channels are ridiculous. No glare, No burn-in period W3000 series= A convienent HDMI port equalling 3 1.3HDMI ports, 3,000 more ratio, X V color, all that makes it look better than V, plus a 1,000 cheaper than the XBR and picture looks identical 40"= Hey I really didnt want to spend more than 2g's, I paid 3800 for my 42" a few years ago, so yeah I would of liked the 46" or have gotten the XBR series with the awesome looking glass on it but it is what it is, I got it for 2,000 0% and no payment for 16months at CC, cant beat it, plus a protection plan well worth the 200 dollars. Sony= Similar manufactures are selling very similar displays but in my opinions Sony's have the best looking, strongest case displays, picture is unmatched, sounds great if your gonna use it, you pay a little more but I believe if your paying 16-17-1800 for an extra few hundred Sony's giving you something that has that much more of an unbelievable picture and WOW factor, sometimes you Supersize the meal, sometimes you dont but here its worth the extra doe. Closing notes...seriously your buying a TV for its picture and Sony has nailed the coffin pretty much, honestly most of us want an awesome television thats great to watch HD news, HD movies, HD sports, and maybe some of us game, and also something that will impress the neighbors and friends and this TV is just Roger Federer right now. 96.8/100
