    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: Value. Features. Value.

Weaknesses: QoS questionable. Setup can be bewildering.

Overall Evaluation: The Zhone (Paradyne) 6218-A1-200 blows away the competition. ADSL(2(+)) modem + router + 802.11G wireless + switch. It replaces my wimpy AT&T/SBC/Ameritech/IBT SpeedStream 4100 ADSL modem. The router is very well featured. The wireless has very good range. FWIW, I believe the ports are actually a 4 port switch, not a hub. This device has loads of features, flexibility, security, and status info. The DC adapter is 110v only (output 15v 700ma).My AT&T (Chicago, IL) non-default setup is below. Default IP address is 192.168.1.1. Default username is Admin and password is Admin. Be sure to hit the apply button after changing each web page.1. Setup->LAN Configuration: Enable DHCP server (disabled by default). I set DHCP IP range from .100 to .199 just in case I needed some static addresses.2. Setup->Firewall and Nat: enable (disabled by default)3. Setup->Modem: Multimode (yes, really ADSLx didn't work)4. Setup->Connections: I deleted default bridge and PPPoE connections and created a single connection named "ATT". I entered:a. ATT ADSL PPPoE usernameb. ATT ADSL PPPoE passwordc. Selected Auto PVC switch5. Wireless->Setup: Change the SSID to your preference.6. Tools->User Management: Change the default password.I prefer this single unit to the combo SpeedStream + Linksys WRT54GL (default firmware). It offers much more control and feeds back much more info.
