Overall Rating: 4 Star Review
Duration of ownership:5 Months
Strengths: Bright color screen, MP3, Infrared, Sleek steel look, sd card slot, in-built speaker, password protected, low $$$.
Weaknesses: No Blue tooth, Ofcourse Weeeak built-in battery, No Camera, No cradle.
Overall Evaluation: Why did I buy Palm Tungsten E? Had Sharp organizer (with key board same size as palm E), it was very good. Sharp is not manufacturing it anymore so looked out for PDA's. Palm E is my first PDA style organizer. Got for $105 including leather case, car & USB chargers at Sams club. How does it Work: Works very good. I like Word-to-go, Excel sheet colors, bright color visible in sunlight. Most often I use it for calander, memo section and 'contacts' . The format - display of contacts is not that good. Wireless transfers: No blue tooth but my cell phone has infrared also. So I can transfer images, small audio-video files, without cables easily (even though it takes a couple of minutes). MP3-Audio-Video: Sound quality of Mono-Speaker is okay. Sound quality of Stereo-headphones is GOOD :). Downloaded kinoma video player but not all files can be played. Stores upto 1 gb in SD card. Did not try 2gb SD cards yet.Internet Browsing: Downloaded Avantgo for browsing day-to-day web pages. But am not impressed with display of pages. Also since I store email passwords etc, in my E, I don't feel secure doing a hot sync (downloads) through LIVE websites. Try high end -more$$$- PDA's for browsing internet.Last but not the least: Mr.Battery is non removable. Charges quickly and looses power at the same rate..quickly. But my car charger (got as part of package) and USB charger (charge from office desktop!!) do some compensation. GPS-Navigation: Not Compatable. Rich or hi-fi people can look out for PDA that is compatable with Navigation or GPS devices like tomtom such as Palm LifeDrive etc. Also, I can dial my cell phone from a distance of about 10 feet using "phone-dialer" in E. Exciting right! But its useless.Battery is the main weakness. Others are perfect. You may also consider taking 1 yr extra-warranty (for $5-10 more at wholesale clubs, and about $20 at retailers like Bestbuy, CC). happy hunting.I definately recommend for casual, first-time users, daily users in low budget. If you get Palm Tungsten E2 for almost same price as E, then go for it since its somewhat tomtom capable, has bluetooth and has Intel processor inside.

Strengths: Love the color screen, the jammed pack-full software, and its ability to customize menus. Easy to use.
Weaknesses: Battery life is short! No battery to remove/recharge.
Overall Evaluation: I have used the Tungsten E for well over a year now. For years I lugged around a heavy planner. For those of you who need an affordable and convenient organizer, the TE is the PDA to use. You can hotsync your PDA with Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, use the Calendar, keep track of your daily contacts, and other features. You can read e-books, listen to music, look at your photos, and download third party applications (look at the specs carefully, though!). You can do email but I didn't use that. One annoyance is the location of the power cord. I use a PDA keyboard and I have difficulty placing my PDA vertically on the keyboard. Battery life is a definite problem--the Tungsten E is a good model for those who are near a power source a lot (I am). For those who travel I would recommend a different model. But if you are looking for a cheap PDA with a huge number of features, then the TE is for you.

Strengths: Nice design
Weaknesses: No battery life, only 90 day warranty
Overall Evaluation: This product would be great except that the battery stops holding a charge after about a year of light use. And Palm wants another $125 to replace it. Not a good value in my book. Makes an expensive paperweight.

Strengths: Top screen, definition is 10/10, small, good software bundle, easy to use
Weaknesses: Lack of blue tooth/wifi or any other way to communicate other than ir or usb
Overall Evaluation: Was got as present along with GPS satnav system, wonderfull pda, software (when you get past the pay stuff) is plentyfull and easy to install, have to sync with the pc tool but has not been an issue as usualy downloaded to pc first. Have got email, and internet working tho, internet can be slow and painfull. Games and other software works a treat. Would recomend a different launcher as Palm one is bit naf. I got a win XP version free from freewarepalm.comOnly big pain is comms with network and pc, infared works well but is slow, usb is really the best and as it has it's own usb not need to carry a cradle (usefull as they dont make one !) Would buy again but would HAVE to have blue tooth.

Strengths: Price
Weaknesses: Well, it doesn't work...
Overall Evaluation: I bought the Tungsten E because I am a medical student and needed it to look up medical conditions and medications when I'm on my rotations. I had it for 5 months when it suddenly decided to stop working. I mailed it in to be fixed, and was charged $120, more than half of what it's worth. They mailed it back to me...and it still wasnt fixed!!! So I had to send it back, and they lost it and cant find it, so now I have to wait until they find some kind of proof that they recieved it so they can mail me a new one, and I still have to pay the $120 for the PDA that they never fixed and then lost. Something that costs $200 shouldnt stop working after only 5 months of very light use. It's a piece of crap, and the policies of the Palm company are ridiciulous. Save your money and dont bother buying a Tungsten E, and better yet, buy a PDA that isnt made by Palm.

Duration of ownership:6 Months
Strengths: Fast, pretty screen, stylish
Weaknesses: Dead power button, dark screen, non-replaceable battery
Overall Evaluation: My previous PDA was an old b&w Visor, so this color screen is pretty nice. Unfortunately, I've noticed something wrong with it when comparing to my wife's Tungsten E: my screen is very noticeably darker, even at the highest brightness setting. Her screen is much brighter, with very accurate color. With mine, it's darker and everything has a slight tint of yellow on it. My other complaint is the power button. After just a couple months, I've noticed that I would have to press it harder for it to respond. In four months after owning my Tungsten, the power button stopped working all together. It just stays down and cannot be pressed. Good thing my center button in the joystick still works in turning on my Palm and I found a software that will shutoff my Pal, but it's still incredibly annoying. Lastly, I read that the rechargeable battery inside will surely die within 2 years of ownership. It can be replaced (if you dare to do it), but 3rd party vendors sell a replacement battery for around $80-$100, so that is definitely not worth it. It's just sad that in 1.5 more years, my Palm will be dead and I would have to spend more money to buy a new one. Other than these three major complaints, I like my Palm. :) It's fast and stylish. I don't mind the lack of a cradle, as the cables work just as well. If someone can fix those three problems above, then the Tungsten will be perfect.

Strengths: Price, size,capiability
Weaknesses: Battery Life stinks! Had to reset after battery died. Charged overnight again but now the "E" is completely dead. Will bury it with my other foolish purcahses. This is my second Palm and my last!
Overall Evaluation: Customer Service is about as worthless as the product. Tried looking on the website for over an hour and can to the conclusion that there is a lot of worthless non-technical information and none of the subjects address battery life or battery failure. And guess what you can talk to a live human being for $25.00. "Get your credit card ready"! To add insult to injury, you can't understand them. Have yet to figure out what language they are speaking. Unfortunately I only understand English.

Strengths: Good Display, Easy to use, has programs that are used by empoyer - Palm programs.
Weaknesses: Battery life. Non replacepable battery. Failing to start up twice. Had to use re-set to start. Support on website is almos non-existant except for knowledge base which is full of horror stories.
Overall Evaluation: We were very pleased with this PDA at first. It seemed just right for use as a school teacher's PDA with all the applicatons available for that purpose installed. Occasionally there were problems with the stilus working on the screen. There have been problems with the synch to our PC. Twice we have had problems getting the PDA to turn on at the most inopurtune times when we needed to use it.We are not sure that the re-start failure is a battery problem (it was fully charged, we thought) or an O.S. problem. We suspect the O.S. because even other makes of Palm operated PDAs seem to have this problem. We went to the Palm website for customer support, but only found their knowledge base that was full of comments by other owners of this machine having the same problems but much worse in many cases. Almost all complained about the battery life and the lack of a replacement battery offering (at a reasonable price) by the manufacturer and the fact that the extended warranty did not help at all regarcing premature battery failure. In all, we would very disinclined to buy this machine again. And, from reading reviews on any other Palm machine we have considered, believe it would be just trading one problem for another to buy one of these. We are amazed that Palm is throwing away their good name in this manner. We may be out of the PDA market for a while.

Strengths: Nice Display, while it worked.
Weaknesses: Unit is Dead after 4 months. No warranty support, online web support stinks, and repair at your own expense.
Overall Evaluation: I purchased this unit to help me decide whether to get a Treo. After just 4 months, I suddenly got a "welcome" screen for a new user, and all my data was gone (some not yet backed up). The next time I tried to turn it on, the unit was lifeless. There are numerous reports of similar problems on Palm's own website "forum".Palm warranty is just 90 days, and after that service is at your expense. Whatever it costs, I don't think it would be worth it, and I will trash this unit and avoid PalmOne products in the future.

Weaknesses: Needs memory (there is never enough!) in order to use it as a MP3 deviceA good cover that fits in my shirt pocket(??)
Overall Evaluation: Don´t be fooled. For a first time user is a great product. I didn´t think a PDA was so great. And I will not lose a single lead anymore. The Notes feature is greatI really enjoy using it as a MP3 Player I just hope that soon I will be able to buy a Palm that also can manage my two cell lines and I would have all I need in just one device.
