Overall Rating: 5 Star Review
Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Price - purchased at Sam's Club. Lots of inputs, even component and DVI. HDTV ready. Higher resolution than other sets of the same size
Weaknesses: None.
Overall Evaluation: Bought this LCD TV for my daughter for a Christmas present for her bedroom. It is hooked to standard cable and it tunes well and the picture quality is decent - much better than on other 15" sets that I looked at. DVDs look great too. I would like one for my room!

Overall Rating: 4 Star Review
Duration of ownership:2 Weeks
Strengths: HDTV in a small package, Quality Construction, Excellent picture & sound
Weaknesses: No built-in HDTV tuner, Cheap remote, Wall-mounting lacks horiz. swivel and does't work well with swing-arm mounts
Overall Evaluation: I bought this TV to use in our kitchen breakfast nook. We've been using it for about 2 weeks now, connected via component video cables to a DirecTV H-20 HDTV satellite receiver. The picture and sound quality are both excellent. Even though the TV's display is 4:3 format, it works well with HDTV programming. Since we are in a transition period between SDTV and HDTV and 4:3 and 16:9 format broadcasts, this is the perfect TV to use, especially for secondary use in the kitchen. Having a 16:9 image cropped on the sides is less annoying than zooming and cropping the top and bottom of 4:3 images to fill a 16:9 screen. I have just three complaints about this TV. First of all, the remote is not so great. The buttons are small and it has an overall "cheap" feeling. The good thing is that I use the DirecTV receiver's remote so it's not a problem for me. This bring up my second complaint, which is fact that Philips TV's lack "discreet" power on and off functions. Even though my DirecTV remote has separate buttons for "on" and "off", both of these buttons do exactly the same thing, which is to toggle the TV off if it's on, or on if it's off. This is true for any Philips TV and any universal or programmable remote. With today's complex systems involving cable boxes, satellite receivers and home theater systems, having discreet on and off buttons is important in case the power status of any device gets out of sync.My final complaint is one of those "good new, bad news" issues. The issue is with the wall mounting of the TV. First, the good news is that the TV's built-in table-top stand can be pivoted 90-degress backward to become a built-in wall mount. It's a great solution if you only need vertical articulation. It stick out about four or five inches behind the screen and makes a nice place to store the A/C transformer "brick". The bad news is that if you want horizontal articulation, you still have to buy a bracket, and the bracket attaches to the back of the wall mount. This makes it so the TV won't store flush against the wall, and the center of gravity is in an odd position relative to the bracket. Of course it does still make a nice place to store the "brick".All in all, I would recommend this TV and would not hesitate to buy it again if I needed another 15" LCD TV.

Strengths: - Picture clarity is outstanding- The sound is just as advertised...simply amazing
Weaknesses: NONE
Overall Evaluation: This is my second purchase of a Philips LCD TV (also own a Panasonic LCD and a 50" Sony LCD). Without doubt, this set is equal to the more expensive Sony! The picture clarity is crisp and the colors are brilliant. However, please be aware that you have to manually turn on the set the first time (button on the lower right-hand side). I kept trying with the remote and finally called Philips customer support. This trivial task is NOT mentioned in the setup manual.

Overall Rating: 5 Star Review
Duration of ownership:2 Weeks
Strengths: The sharpest and clearest picture in cable TV mode / Great sound / Easy to use menu system
Weaknesses: None
Overall Evaluation: I was looking to replace my old 13" Color TV in the bedroom. So I started to look at the various 15" to 23" HD/LCD TV offered today. Please note that what you see on the display in the stores is not typical of what you will see at home. They display the TV's in HD mode running a DVD. Also note that all other conventional TV's in my house have very clear pictures on all channels. First I went with a $300.00 Magnavox 15" LCD, the TV picture was fuzzy, so I returned it. Second I tried a $400.00 Sylvania 20" LCD, this also had a fuzzy picture and cheep controller, so I returned it. I then decided to cross the 500.00 cost budget and went with A 23" Samsung $790.00 HD/LCD Top of the Line model. Well to my surprise this unit also had poor picture quality, so I returned it. I was just about ready to give up on LCD / HD / TV's when I found the Philips 15PF5120/28 for $298.00. I thought one more try. Well the Philips was a WINNER. As soon as I hooked it up you could see the difference. Finally a Clear, Sharp, Vivid picture with excellent Color and Sound. Save yourself all the trouble buy the Philips First.
