  Overall Evaluation: Have been using the Roku now for two months. Set up was easy -- and it was "plug it in & start playing" -- if you followed the directions. Maybe someday someone will come up with something that is truely "plug it in and play it" without directions, but this one is close. Sound quality is great with stuff that I have loaded on the computer and the webradio portion is acceptable although depending on the station, scratchy at time. Overall an excellent product.

  Overall Evaluation: I have owned 2 Soundbridges. The M500 display failed after about 1.5 years. The M1001 I purchased as a replacement worked well for 2 years until its power supply failed yesterday. Completely bricking the unit. Yes, I tried other outlets, etc. Dead M1001. I will have to replace this since I have hundreds of CDs being served over the home WiFi system but it's a sad prospect to think of paying out another $150 for a product that demonstrates poor quality control.

  Strengths: Automatic software update, digital/optical output, multiple media server support, Internet radio, good looking, reasonably priced.

  Weaknesses: Noise introduced due to new hardware design change from earlier version

  Overall Evaluation: Overall speaking, a very good wired/wireless digital music player with support to some Asian languages in MP3 tags, which was the main reason why I upgraded from the wonderful Roku M500 model. The bad thing is, if you search the Internet for the noise issue due to the new hardware redesign, you can see a lot of people complaining about the noise introduced to this model on all outputs because of resampling, which makes such a good functional music player unacceptable to the audiophile crowd. The bottomline is, this model is still probably the best compromise currently if you consider the price, function and the continuous vendor support.

  Strengths: Open to virtually unlimited internet stations.Works seemlessly with iTunes and Rhapsody (even at the same time). Great sound quality

  Weaknesses: Only wireless B, should be upgraded. We don't have any signal issues though.

  Overall Evaluation: I've just bought another unit for our second floor after a trouble free year of using the first. Great for parties - make a playlist and you are done for the evening. I have two Roku units, often running at the same time. One playing children's stories from iTunes for my kid and another playing music from Rhapsody or the internet on another floor. Very easy to set up, good security features. Firmware updates are self prompted and easy to install. The new internet portal is great for managing the internet favorites. Couldn't recommend the Roku more.

  Strengths: A great, seamless interface to your music library

  Weaknesses: wireless use is buggy, setup takes some patience

  Overall Evaluation: Before you buy -- make sure to review the list of wireless routers and their performance ratings. My original router was listed as "poor" and they weren't kidding... upgrading to a recommended model resulted in very good performance.Out of the box, learning to navigate the menus during setup takes patience -- and the booklet isn't written in a very linear fashion. Having to rely on two lines of text, with no reference to where you are on the menu "tree" doesn't help.The browser-based setup has been reported as easier, though my Mac was not able to recognize the device via Bonjour, so I was not able to test it.Once setup is complete, the ease of access and compatibility with music files proves to be excellent. Song buffering is fast and music quality is very good.Still, there are lingering glitches, which Roku will presumably fix through firmware upgrades. In between listening sessions, I found I need to unplug the power source to get the unit to reboot, for example.In the end: a fun product and decent price, especially if you are a gearhead and you tend to play music continuously (i.e. turn it on and let it run).

  Overall Evaluation: I own a M500 Soundbridge and needed another one. But, alas, I couldn't find one at a fair price. So, I decided to move to the M1001 for my second purchase. I like the M500 and the M1001 is even better! Good display and the connections are easier to use on teh M1001 than the 500. The only "issue" is that some internet radio stns are very slow to load or do so irratically. I seem to have problems with the Rokus that I do not when listening via computer. I am unabel to tell if is a problem with the M1001 (and M500) or not, but I cannot honestly say that it is a "Roku problem." I use the M1001 via our wired LAN (not wirelessly.)

  Strengths: works well. good sound quality. easy to use / install. nothing to hook up to your computer. that is the great part. attractive style.

  Weaknesses: 2 lines of display?? they must be nuts!!!

  Overall Evaluation: as for the "dont lose the remote comment, you can go into it at 192.168.x.x and do anything you need without the remote. for linux users, you will need banshee and mt-daapd (lots of support for it)a great product that i recommend. however, i may also try the gwb-4000 (or something like that) and see if it also works in linux. not sure it will. seems to be no community base for it.

  Strengths: Wireless or wired network, plays various digitized music file formats, configurable display, Internet radio

  Weaknesses: Don't lose the remote! There are no front panel controls.

  Overall Evaluation: I have had the Soundbridge for almost a year now. I listen to MP3s and Internet radio on it and hardly ever play CDs anymore. They are mostly all "ripped" and stored in a Windows Media library. I prefer WM to iTunes because WM runs in background and iTunes doesn't, so I don't even have to login to the computer to play music.

  Strengths: Can stream internet radio stations from your router when your computer is off.

  Weaknesses: Can only store 18 internet radio stations.

  Overall Evaluation: This unit is great! Easily a replacement for satellite radio, and you can just about get rid of all your CD's. Compact size, great design, and the non-LCD display allows future upgrades or open-sourge gurus to modify it's content....like showing the weather.
