Strengths: When it works it works. Thats all.
Weaknesses: Undependable.
Overall Evaluation: Bought my first product which quit working while on warranty. The company was good enough to send me a replacement. This quit working too 3 months out of warranty of the first product. The company refused to replace the replacement citing the date of the original warranty. These products are clearly not built to last even with moderate use. ie. around 2 hrs a day at maximum.

Strengths: Very easy to assemble, easy to install. Has a fan with it.
Weaknesses: The enclousure is plastic. And the black and silver color makes it look bulky.
Overall Evaluation: So far so good. I am very satisfied with this product. I always carry this with me between my home and work for data transfer. Never had a problem. :)

Strengths: -The casing is very sturdy and strong-internal fan keeps things cool-the fan is quiet (most noise is determined by the noise from HD)
Weaknesses: -cannot vertically mount-only on and off switch for power, no HD on/off switch-doesn't look sleek or trendy
Overall Evaluation: Although i have never purchased another external enclosure, i would definitely recommend this one. Overall, it is a decent one that does the job that is intended. Moreover, the casing never gets too warm because of the internal fan. It has all of the basic feature (USB 2.0, etc.) At the same time, i would not pay extra for this product, in other words, buy it if it is on the cheaper side as i would much prefer something that can vertically mount

Strengths: Small, quiet, works well
Weaknesses: Integrity of case isn't great, difficult to put case back together perfectly
Overall Evaluation: So far I'm satisfied with the item given the price, in that it works perfectly. I've used higher-model ADS boxes and Belkin's that had much better integrity.

Duration of ownership:14 Days
Strengths: Ease of assembly, looks good, internal space used well
Weaknesses: Weak fan/questionable airflow, external power supply to lug around
Overall Evaluation: This enclosure was purchased for a 7200 RPM Hitachi drive. Installation was very easy and straightforward. Inside there is a fan which is under the PCB(printed circuit board) facing downwards. It's inaudible and it blows outwards through slits in the case. During assembly, I wasted no time cutting out the slats in front of the fan for better airflow, though I don't believe it helped much. The fan is very weak and placing a thin piece of tissue in front of it barely showed movement. It may not matter much, as the drive case never got very hot(maybe when we get into the hot summer here in Texas... we will see). Then external power supply would be nice if incorporated inside the unit but it is relatively small, about 4 inches long. If you can get it for around $30 like I did with rebates, then it is definitely worth it... 4 stars.

Strengths: Slick look and feel. Worked as expected. Recognized in XP and 2000 immediately without the need to install additional driver.
Weaknesses: The encluded ball-bearing fan is not the quietest. Change drives requires a screwdriver.
Overall Evaluation: I purchased it from CompUSA in a recent promotion and I liked this enclosure. I hooked a 10GB harddrive to this enclosure and made a great backup box for all my computers. The external design is good, not fancy but professional. The enclosure is easy to use, plug & play in both 2000 and XP machines. The fan is not very quiet, but not very noisy neither. Because of the fan, the hard drive does not get too hot after a couple of hours of use. Attaching the harddrive to the enclosure does require you to use a screwdriver. Not hard but not easy neither. Be careful not to loose any screws as no extra ones were provided. The internal room is a little crowded as I have to keep pushing the harddrive toward the data cable when I am securing the harddrive onto the harddrive rails with screws. Overall, a good product with cheaper-than-average price. Good if you only use it with one specific hard drive most of the time. Not good if you will attach different harddrives to it from time to time, as you are required to use screwdrivers everytime you do the assembling.

Strengths: looks slim
Weaknesses: it's not well engineered. especially, the fan is too small. The electricity cord is too hard to bend over.
Overall Evaluation: I got this enclosure in combo with a 160G HD. It's not really easy to install since the LED and fan wires are not well engineered. Since the fan is too small, plus the case is made of plastic, it's kind of hot when it's running. The electric cord is hard which makes it hard to bend over. But anyway it looks slim. And you couldn't complain too much about the stuff at this price.

Strengths: Price, sturdy, easy to install, USB2.0
Weaknesses: Plastic, no fan, external power supply
Overall Evaluation: I got this enclosure in combo with a 160G HD. The enclosure is nice black and silver, feels sturdy. But the whole case is made of plastic without fan in the back. I am a little worry about the heat issue. Installation is pretty easy. I installed the HD in the ADS. Then hooked it up to the USB 2.0 port. Windows XP immediately recognized the USB storage device. Next, I used the installation CD included with the Hitachi HD. It immediately recognized the HD and wanted to know if it was to be additional storage or new boot device. I selected the former and the CD took care of setting it up. It showed up immediately and was ready for use. Good case for the price.

Weaknesses: a little bit noisy, but it's ok.
Overall Evaluation: Just got it last week from computer USA. Overall, it is good. The case is smaller than I have expected. The price is good also. Installed easily with 160GB hard drive, compatible with windows XP, and it runs pretty well.

Strengths: Smaller and sleeker than I expected, but still larger than other external HD cases that I use.
Weaknesses: Surprised to find a tiny fan, but not surprised it is of little use since there is some small air intake but no other openings in the case for air flow to be effective.
Overall Evaluation: The manual stated it will handle a new (unformatted) drive. That at most you would need to go to Computer Management to locate the drive and initialize it before formatting it. This was not the case for me using a brand new Hitachi 160GB HD. I'm used to this, usually going to a desktop system to format (large) HD's before putting them in an external case. Usually, external cases saw drives 120GB or smaller. But being an up-to-date external case, I at least expected it to see something -- maybe limit formatting to 120GB, but at least see something. I did manage to initialize/format the 160GB hard drive with a different IDE-USB interface. Once formatted, the ADS case recognized the HD and has operated satisfactorily. But because I had to go to the extra step of formatting a new HD elsewhere, I rate this product 3-stars. I would buy it again only if the price is right.
