Duration of ownership:14 Months
Strengths: Lots of ports, stackable, convenient to use.
Weaknesses: Overheats, then stops working altogether.
Overall Evaluation: I've had three of these hubs, counting the one that I received after sending one back as an RMA. The returned hub first started overheating to the point that it was too hot to touch, then it stopped working completely. The device that was sent to me after the malfunctioning one was returned started overheating almost immediately and was disconnected. A couple of months later, the working hub also overheated and stopped working. Belkin technical support suggested that too many devices were plugged into the hubs (never more than six), but was unable to explain why a seven-port hub could not support six devices. If this was an isolated problem with one device, I'd attribute the problem to a single defective unit. But these multiple failures, all with the same symptoms, indicates a faulty and potentially dangerous design.

Strengths: 1.)Compact and flat design2.)Universal AC adapter (great for traveling abroad)3.)Work well with Windows XP pro4.)Can be stackable on top of each other
Weaknesses: -Universal AC adapter is huge (very awkard for portibility)-If stack 3 more on top of each others-two ports at the bottom would be inaccessible-Too small rubbers at the bottom for skid prevention
Overall Evaluation: I really like this Belkin USB hub comparing to other relatively no brands I was using. It has 7 ports, of which 2 ports are located on top. These two ports are extremely useful, yet I wish it could have been 3 or 4 since I find myself use it more often for USB thumb drives and connecting to camera. With several USB thumb drives around, it requires more USB ports. The space between each USB on the back is a bit narrow, and if you have wide USB thumb drive, it may occupy the space more than one port. This hub works well with Win XP Pro. I connect a few external hard drives with it, and they all work fine. I am thinking to even buy more and stack them, but still wonder if the two ports on top of the bottom one would be inaccessible if stacking more than two.

Strengths: stackable, 7 total (incl 2 top) USB ports, hi-speed USB 2.0, metallic body with rubber wrap cover
Weaknesses: needs to be plugged in (AC power) full time, large head on plug
Overall Evaluation: I have 2 of these USB hubs stacked (and connected one to the other). They work well together. That gives me a total of 13 usb 2 ports (6+7). I have 1 scanner, 1 laser printer, 2 ink jet printers, 5 external hard drives, 1 external dvd burner, and 1 usb video capture box - wheew! I don't have these devices on at the same time of course. But when I do turn them on, my pc detects them immediately. I also use the TOP USB ports to plug in my mp3 player or USB flash drive. It's convenient and easily accessible.Another thing I like about this is that they are NOT made of cheap plastic. The body is made of metal (aluminum?) with a rubber wrap cover. It's heavier but looks well built and durable. If you look at other USB hubs, they are made of mostly cheap plastic. So you can drop these without worrying that they'll break. This hub needs to be plugged in all the time (powered). Most USB hubs have to be anyway. However, the plug (head) for this is BIG. So it'll take up space on your power strip/surge suppressor. Just be aware of it because you cannot see the power supply in the retail package.

Strengths: * design/look* easy access usb ports on top* "smart" & powered
Weaknesses: none
Overall Evaluation: If you see this hub in person, you'll know why I like the look. It's very thin and sits well on a desk without tipping (like other hubs that i've used) when there are a lot of things plugged into it. If you have the need for more than 7 usb ports, it was designed so that you can stack a second one on top of it very easily. The top two ports are nice because you can plug in without reading behind the hub and fishing for a port. One cool thing about this hub is that it knows when the computer is off and shuts off powered to the usb hub (ie, for keyboards or mouse that is plugged into it). It still, however, can charge an ipod shuffle from one of the top port, even when the computer is off. Very cool - I call it "smart" power. When it is on, there are lights in the front which correspond to each device plugged into the hub.Overall, a very well thought out and designed product.

Duration of ownership:3 Weeks
Strengths: The two top loading ports are great and very acessible. High on the form factor points, very thin and stablable.
Weaknesses: The 5 ports in the back are a little too close together.
Overall Evaluation: Well, the first one arrived with one of the top loading ports DOA. Called customer support and they said that they would replace it. I just have to send the broken one in, with me footing the shipping charges. At this point I was just going to exchange it through the online retailer I purchased it from but then noticed that they were based about 2-3 miles from me. Asked if I could used drop it off instead of shipping it. The CSR said yes. I dropped it off the next day and my replacement a few days later. However, the replacement came with the AC adapter somehow smashed open still inside the package. Called Belkin again, they agreed to send out a replacement AC adapter which arrived about a week or a week and a half later. It wasn't the same AC adapter which came with the USB hub but it had the same specs so I plugged it in and voila, 2 weeks after receiving my original USB hub, I have a fully functioning hub and AC adapter. Now, overlooking the ordeal I went through, it's a decent hub. I bought a 7-port D-link hub while I was waiting for a working Belkin hub, and although I like my D-link more than the Belkin overall, I really like to two USB slots on top of the Belkin. It makes it really convenient for jump drives and other things that are plugged and unplugged often. Overall, it's a good hub and I'd still recommend it if the price is right.

Duration of ownership:1 Years
Strengths: Number of ports, two ports on top perfect for USB drive use
Weaknesses: Huge power brick
Overall Evaluation: This is the 3rd time I've purchased this USB hub. I love the fact they are stackable and you can plug in USB thumbdrives without having to reach around to the back of the hub. My only complaint is that one of the hubs I own seem to restart the USB service on my laptop everytime I plug something into it.

Strengths: Space saving designStackable
Weaknesses: runs really hot
Overall Evaluation: The USB hub runs all my USB devices without any problems. You can also stack two of these hubs which saves a lot of space. One thing to watch out for is that they run really hot, so maybe in the long run it might have some stability problems.

Strengths: The best feature of this hub of course is its design... having all the cables come out the back is the way they all hubs should be designed.
Weaknesses: Gets warm due to how thin it is.
Overall Evaluation: This is a nicely designed hub. Better than most because all the cables come out the back. It makes things much less messy than most hubs are. Its also great is having two separate connections at the top for temporary things like USB Flash drives. As for it getting too warm, it does get pretty warm and I think its just due to the fact its so thin. Thinner than most hubs.

Strengths: I thought a 7-port hub would be very useful.
Weaknesses: New unit was Dead On Arrival. Could not get Belkin to honor their Warranty. DO NOT BUY FROM BELKIN
Overall Evaluation: When the unit arrived DOA, I opened a Service Ticket and was sent an E-Mail with instructions on shipping it back, BUT I HAD TO PAT THE SHIPPING CHARGES ON A NEW UNIT THAT HAD NEVER WORKED. THAT'S JUST WRONG...
