Strengths: Price. Color
Weaknesses: SCREEN BURN-IN!!! Menu Options. Confusing mount instructions. Definition
Overall Evaluation: First - watching my friends LCD - he has way better black and that "3D" look then this tv. Second - The burn-ins abound - the input screen (pops up when you turn the tv on or switch input methods) has burned in - this is a function of the TV. PS3 burn-in. Pause button burn-in - oh and btw when I pause my movies I turn the TV off immediately. I have a TV, Bose speakers and other sound system since 1995 - that is how good I take care of my stuff. This TV sucks. When I confronted panasonic (still within the MFG warranty period) they said they do not cover burn-ins - even if it is caused by the tv functionality. AVOID THIS TV.

Strengths: Very clean & visually well designed front & back. The only brand I could find w/ front panel S-Video, Video/L-R Audio inputs for camcorder, digital camera or laptop plus an SD Mem Card slot. Lots of inputs jacks in back including two 2 HDMI inputs (both used) to allow many connecting options to other components. (Sam's Club has the best price on 6' HDMI cables.) A additional DVI input jack would have been nice for connection to my computer. Really great picture & vivid colors, but have discovered the TV video quality is very dependent on each programs' original video quality coming in via cable (input signal is strong). On this TV, the HD is usually Excellent. Oddly, on local channels, the Analog video broadcast is usually visually better/sharper than the same local channel's Standard Digital broadcast. The manual is decent, but would have liked more details.
Weaknesses: 1. Audio OK for a TV, but much better through a theatre audio receiver system. 2. SD slot works, but actual use in manual is slow and the color took on a very red hue. Adjusting the colors adversely affects colors for normal TV viewing. 3. Did not like the silver grey borders on sides and/or top/bottom for programs that do not fit the screen. The borders should be black or as dark as possible. The borders are distracting. Still trying to figure out what is best "aspect" ratio to use on non HD programs.
Overall Evaluation: Lucked out. Stood in line with 2 friends at Honolulu's Best Buy on black Friday from 3am till they opened at 5am. There was already 1000 people in line, but we decided to stay anyway. Of course, by the time I got in, BB was sold out of this Panisonic model, but after an hour of other shopping, learned that BB would honor the $999.99 price on orders on 200 units from warehouse storck in Calif. i waited in line for another hour, but it was worth it. Picked up the TV 2 wks later. Took about 10 hours (over 2.5 days) to completely open, position properly in LR and figure out how to connect/setup to the Cable DVR, my theater audio system including, DVD Player, DVD/VCR Recorder & VCR. The connections are very different from my old Analog setup & required 3 do overs to get right. A powered splitter separates the input Time Warner Cable signal into 4 outs to the cable DVR, my DVR/VCR Recorder, VCR, & computer tuner. For local HD broadcast not on cable service, a small tabletop antenna worked well (I was a bit confused by how Digital & HD channels are numbered/identified).

Overall Evaluation: I HAVE THE 50 INCH UNIT. DIRECTIONS AREN'T VERY GOOD. PICTURE QUALIITY EXCELLENT. SOUND IS VERY POOR FOR WHAT THE UNIT COSTS.

Strengths: Great colors, great contrast, great detail inside shadows (my method for rating TVs). Easy setup, fast instalation, SD signals still look as god as they did on my 24 inch...huge selaction of connection methods...
Weaknesses: No VGA/DVI input (get a dvi/vga adaptor to hdmi), in standard mode the tv pushes the green spectrum, in vivid you lose the detailed shadows but your contrast is boosted a billion percent.
Overall Evaluation: I've watched only SD programing sofar and it looks as good if not better than it did on my old 24' sony trinitron :P If you realy want a great test of the contrast of this unit go buy Splintercell Double-Agent and drool as every little hair on his head stands out even in the darkest shadows... something that no LCD ive seen can claim... the only blurring u get is from the game its sellf. Its amazing...

Strengths: Amazing Picture
Weaknesses: None that I can see.
Overall Evaluation: I don't know anything about TVs. My husband stood in line to get this TV. We plugged it in, I set it up according to one of your reviewer's settings, and presto an amazing TV experience. I already have cable but everyone insisted that I needed a cable box, so I called my cable company. It took them 45 minutes to connect the boxes, cable, etc. The cable guy handed me another remote and tried to explain how everything worked which requires a Phd in something. Incredibly, the picture was horrendous. Anyway. I tipped him and asked him to remove everything and to put it back the way it was. This TV is truly plug and play and without a box it looks sensational. I know nothing about TVs except that I love this one. I pinch myself to see if I'm real everytime I receive HDTV channels. I'll never have to go to the movies again.

Strengths: HD Video is absolutely phenomenal using the HDMI input.
Weaknesses: A tad spendy for a TV, but it isn't like you buy one all the time.
Overall Evaluation: I researched HD TV's since they first came out. I subscribe to Consumer Reports, and this set was top rated. I purchased in store at Circuit City, with free delivery and set up. Picture out of the box was disappointing, but using the included set up DVD fixed that. Started out using only the usual coax input from the digital cable box. Plunked down the $$ for the HDMI, and upgraded to Comcast HD service, and WOW. I now know what all the hype is about. You gotta see it to believe it. With more and more HD broadcasts from the Discovery, History, ESPN(2), etc. I just kick back and grin in amazement. The NHL in HD is the only way to watch hockey outside of the arena. Take the time to shop around, the prices and financing are out there. And you will be pleased with the treat!

Strengths: Great styling with black border and silver finish, outstanding picture, easy remote, excellent sound without a home theater
Weaknesses: None so far, changes channels slower than my old Sony
Overall Evaluation: I bought mine just before Black Friday at Circuit City online for 1299 less a 10% coupon I found out about at www.gottadeal.com, total 1169 plus 5% VA tax, total $1228, delivered to my door and set up, hauled away the box and packaging. They came earlier than scheduled, had it set up in 15 minutes. In the first 100 hours, don't allow one item on the screen continously or use the movie mode because of burn in, no matter what they say, these sets can still be damaged by burn in for the first 100 hours. Like don't drive a car hard for the first 1000 miles. This is the best deal I have ever seen on such a name brand. Considered the Toshiba, but this was better. Prices have gone back up. Use pricegrabber and gottadeal to keep an eye on a bargain. Don't be afraid to order this baby online and have it delivered. Kind of big to tie in your car.

Strengths: Picture Depth, Sharpness, Black, Style and Sound.
Weaknesses: Tuning and Labeling Standard Cable Channels, Wish it had a 10 in 1 memory Card slot instead of just for SD and separate Ant input for OTA antenna.
Overall Evaluation: Got mine on Black Friday as well. Was lucky not to wait in line too long to get one. Only two remaining when I got mines. The price was just to good to let this deal pass for a Panasonic 9th generation 42" Plasma. The picture quality is excellent with Component or HDMI connected to my Comcast DCT6412 III HD DVR receiver. INHD, and HD Discovery will blow you away with the receiver set to 10801 instead of 720p even though the TV natural resolution is 720p. And with a 10000:1 contrast ration it's very bright indeed. Picture from a Progressive scan DVD's looks very clean connected to one of the two Component video input. Having two HDMI is a bonus. This TV is highly recommended as a main or secondary Tv for the bedroom.

Strengths: Great Picture, easy set up, very affordable. Panisonic is the Plasma leader.
Weaknesses: only one audio/video out
Overall Evaluation: I stood in line at Best Buy on black Friday from 3am till they opened at 5am. They were sold outta the Panisonic and tried to sell me the Westinghouse. I held out and got the Panisonic. This TV rocks. Very easy set up! The High Def is amazing! The features are convenient and easy to use. The back of the TV has plenty of inputs and two HDMI (have not got to use these yet.) It could use and additional audio/video out since there is only one. I used the component cables I got from Comcast with the HD reciever, picture is aw some and I can't wait to play with the HDMI.
