Strengths: One can upload telephone numbers to the cellphone

Weaknesses: Cramped window Can NOT edit phone info on pc without connecting the phone, and it is excruciatingly slow.

Overall Evaluation: I bought it through Tmobile, with shipping almost $50. A lot of money for little satisfaction. I had to install Outlook, (otherwise I use Palm). In attempting to transfer my appointments, where there were more than one appointment per day, it did not always tranfer all appointments to my Motorola RazrV3. The documentation is very poor, and support next to nonexistent.

Weaknesses: the txt message inbox behaves a little oddly sometimes

Overall Evaluation: i use this software to backup my contacts/calendar/inbox. I also love the ringtone studio -- its super simple and now i don't have to pay 5 bucks for a freakin 10 second ringtone.

Strengths: It installs on the PC without a problem.

Weaknesses: It only covers some of the models it advertises as being covered and for those it does cover, it does not do all of the functions it says it will.

Overall Evaluation: It is a waste of money. I am completely dissatisfied with it. It only covers some of the models it advertises as being covered and for those it does cover, it does not do all of the functions it says it will.

Strengths: Includes TV Turner, though I haven't got chance to experience it yet.

Weaknesses: No external TV antenna included. If you want the TV feature you have to connect to cable or Dish services or buy an additional external antenna.

Overall Evaluation: I would definitely recommend this computer to anyone. It's fast and easy to use, has great features. The price is right and extra incentive with $50 mail-in and rebate sealed the deal.

    Strengths: Easy to use interface

Weaknesses: Not obvious that the shipped version needs upgrading

Overall Evaluation: I initially thought I had wasted my $$$ since MPT wouldn't recognize my phone or install correctly. Investigation on the user forums at http://www.bvrpforums.com/motorola/ determined that a version upgrade was needed. After being supplied this and installing, all is working great.

Strengths: Works really well once you get it installed. Creating MP3 ringtones has never been easier.

Weaknesses: The version on the disk is way behind.

Overall Evaluation: This is a great tool, especially if you have a lot of contacts to transfer. I was able to transfer all of my wife's contacts from her old Motorola V3. And, wouldn't you know it, it crashed 2 days later. Whew! When she got her new Motorola V3 replacement, I was able to transfer all the data she had on there before in a matter of minutes. The problem I had with the Phone Tools is that it took a while to get it to finally recognize my phone, which is a RAZR VXX. It kept having to upgrade the version of the tools. However, it wouldn't necessarily update correctly, so it turned into a repetitive process for a while of installing and uninstalling. Also, It did not have VXX. So, I identified my phone as a VX and it worked fine. So, the short of it was the difficulty in installation, but it works really well once you get it going.

    Strengths: downloads pics...

Weaknesses: Does not work for my phone Motorazr V9M.

Overall Evaluation: I just purchased this software and it is not working with my phone. Also I look in the list and it does not give me the option for the V9M. It connects fine and downloads the pictures. But it keeps telling me it cannot find my phone. Does anyone know what I have to go under to make this work.

Strengths: Pretty good software, but not a polished professional package.

Weaknesses: Installation problems, poor error handling and recovery, limited functionality for some phones/carriers.

Overall Evaluation: I bought the Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) package (a CD and two cables) for less than eight dollars. For that price, I'm not too unhappy, even if I never get it to work properly. (The CD can be used as a coaster, and the cables can be modified to be dog leashes :-).)I spent two or three hours trying to install it, but with no success so far. I'm pretty confident that I'll eventually get it installed, perhaps with support from the vendor. I've been a software developer for more years than many of you have been living, though. If you're a casual computer user, the installation is likely to be a hit-or-miss thing for you, as other reviewers have said.Previous reviewers have commented on the lack of a manual. It's true there's no printed manual, but my CD contains two manuals, and you can download those same manuals from the Motorola Web page if they aren't on the CD.There's also a support forum with some FAQs. I don't have the URL with me, but I started from the avanquest page and navigated there in a few steps. I wish I had gone there before starting the installation. It says, among other things, that the "live update" won't work with anti-virus packages or an active firewall. That was probably the reason for the first failure that I encountered during the installation (and may have led to the later failures). It was getting late by then, so I stopped for the day. I'll try again, maybe tonight. As many other reviewers have said in this thread, some carriers (Verizon is mentioned most often) have modified the on-phone software in ways that have effectively disabled some of the MPT features. That fact should be much more prominently stated in the MPT advertising. I'm not sure that I'll have much more than a contacts backup/restore capability even if I get the installation to work perfectly. I can get that from Verizon (free with an online account). I can already transfer photos from the phone to the laptop using Bluetooth, although it's a pretty tedious and clumsy process. In short, I may end up with no significant added functionality from MPT. But, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised once I get it installed. My advice is to choose one of the least expensive storefronts. The cable and CD is going to be the same whether you pay $8 or $40.

    Duration of ownership:4 Weeks

Strengths: Very easy to use, does what it is meant to do, slick interface.

Weaknesses: Some features really not necessary

Overall Evaluation: This product fills the bill for those people with Motorola cell phones. It comes with a CD-ROM and USB cables for connections (a real plus). When you load the program, it automatically searches for updates to the program. [I use Windows XP and had no problems with this whatsoever; I've seen some problems noted online by Vista users.]The program allows you to set up for multiple cell phones--an important feature for my family with three cell phone users. The user interface is very simple and easy to navigate, and each area has help info that pops up when you access it, so you never are at a loss as to how to use the feature. My primary uses for the Motorola Mobile Phone Tools are for importing graphics and making custom ring tones. It's easy to make screen photos and ring tones using this product. In fact, you will save $$ by making your own ring tones rather than accessing the ringtone stores on the Internet. If you have favorite CDs or MP3s, you can very easily select clips and download them to your phone. It includes a waveform editor that lets you make simple but precise edits for your clips, then a few clicks and it's on your phone. At no extra charge. The same thing goes for photos. You can load them from your PC and clip them for use as wallpaper or a photo gallery or to send with a text message. You can also synchronize your call and email lists with such programs as Outlook and Outlook Express. You can view your address books in both and effortlessly move contact info between your PC and the phone. You can do the same thing with your calendar entries. There are some features I don't use but some would find helpful, such as using your PC to compose text messages and sending them over the phone. A less valuable feature is using the phone to connect to the Internet using your PC. If you have dial-up or broadband on your PC (or even WiFi), you probably won't need the expense of going through your cell phone.Occasionally my computer hasn't sensed the presence of the phone, but I think that's a function of my USB port and not the software or cable (it happens with other devices as well). All in all, this is a very good product and a bargain for the Motorola cell phone user.
