  Overall Evaluation: Pinnacle is known for its easy to use video editing software. The non-standard interface makes it easy to get started. Unfortunately, the program is plagued with problems that never seem to get resolved. For example, tThe analog input card I got with Pinnacle Studio 9 is only partially supported so I could read a video tape but could not output to tape. The menu generation and DVD authoring features are quite weak and not at all competitive with similar products. The menu editor is rather outdated and is not at all intuitive. All chapters must be linked to a menu -- something that is not always desirable. The suggested workaround (to create an "invisible" menu) is more trouble than it is worth.The biggest problem though is the poor quality support. Although I have a folder full of e-mail exchanges with Pinnacle "support", I have never once obtained a resolution to a problem through them.Bottom line: There are better home video editing products on the market.

  Overall Evaluation: poor software, many gliches, terrible technical support. I tried to use this for months and during that time was not able to make a single dvd with 5.1 surround though I paid extra for this feature. Useless company and useless software.

  Strengths: Lots of features, some of which are useful. Additional templates/features require more purchasing.

  Weaknesses: BUGGY!! The software has changed very little in this department since its last version. Constant freezes or kicks to the desktop. They really ought to invest in a QA department.

  Overall Evaluation: Used the last version for a while but was not able to finish a whole project without the application constantly dropping to the desktop. Further reviews indicate this updated version is the same. Buyer beware!!
