Strengths: Half works on PPC Mac
Weaknesses: Doesn't recognize Intel Mac; iomega support practically non-existent.
Overall Evaluation: I foolishly trusted Iomega's good Mac reputation and purchased a Wireless StorCenter 1 TB drive. Unfortunately, I was unable to install the Iomega on my network until about 5 weeks later (long after return to store was possible). I have two laptops on my network, one PPC and an Intel MacBook Pro. I use a Belkin router and have had no trouble until I tried to incorporate the Iomega. The Discovery program recognized my PowerBook but I have been unable to find my MacBook Pro using it even w/direct ethernet connection! My calls to IOMEGA support tell me that the problem CAN'T be theirs since my PPC works. Calls to APPLE give the same result. The drive is set up for Windows Workplace, where I can get software to change it to Mac's HFS system, neither Iomega nor Apple seem to know. Also, disc utility sees the Storcenter on the power PC but not on Intel. I doubt that I will ever trust Iomega again! Can some one PLEASE help!

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: none
Weaknesses: plenty...poor hardware and even worse support.
Overall Evaluation: 1.Purchased Iomega NAS device about 8 months ago. RAID 5 so we thought.2.Drive fails to respond on the network. We make a special trip to our remote office 300 miles away to pick it up.3.Unit had apparently reconfigured itself to default settings. Drives inaccessible. 4.Iomega Phone support mostly useless in helping us out. They suggest a new powersupply would fix the problem. Paid $40 in shipping only to get a 50 cent cord and no power brick. 5.Tried data recovery programs with some results, but nothing promising. We find that the RAID on these units are a software RAID and not really that robust. One drive fails and the whole unit is toast. Not very redundant and it seems to me to be a deceptive way to sell a unit.6.Sent the drive to Iomegas Data recovery group. They delayed a week in getting back to us with a statement that we will get data but after we pay $14,000. 7.We declined the offer and requested the drive back.8.Unexpectedly They came back with another offer: They reduced the amount of data they initially stated they could recover down to about a 10th of the data and only halved their quote to $7000.009.They refused any discussions to reduce the costs of their data recovery. They said that they have 30GB that they have recovered, but refused to lower their price. 10.They shipped our unit back a week later and it was literally bouncing around in the shipping box. Not sure it will function any more. This has been very frustrating and I am not happy at all with the way their representatives have handled our case. Words of CautionStay away from Iomega!

Duration of ownership:3 Months
Strengths: makes a nice paperweight
Weaknesses: Web interface has a bug that prevents you from managing the device after you load too many files.
Overall Evaluation: I've lost 200GB to this thing not to mention the original cost, frustration, and most importantly my time. And Iomega support is worthless. They will not acknowledge there is a problem even though the exact cause is known. They have completely abandoned this product.
