Strengths: Fantastic signal strength; excellent build/appearance quality; fully featured; some models marked to include gigabit wired switch; easy to setup.

Weaknesses: Rebooting router after applying changes takes in excess of 1 minute; Wireless N speed not as fast as D-Link; no USB storage capability; no USB print sharing.

Overall Evaluation: I purchased a WN834M model at Staples. It was labeled "Limited Time Offer - This wireless router has been upgraded with Gigabit ports." When I took it home I discovered that it functioning and recognized AND labeled on the case as the WNR854T. So, if you can find similarly labeled boxes, you will get a significant upgrade. I was considering the New N Apple Airport and the D-Link N Xtreme 655. I was very concerned about the lack of the gigabit on the apple, and the high price, but was willing to pay since it has added value in the USB print sharing and the USB HD support. The D-link was rated the fastest according to Tom's Hardware. In the end, I found quite the deal in the Netgear, which turned out to be a 854T. The router connection is incredibly strong, I have experienced to no interference, and no dropped connections. I highly recommend this router!

Strengths: Draft-N, works with Dell 1500 Draft-N wifi card for my laptop! No external antennas.

Weaknesses: Still just DRAFT-N, who knows if it will be upgradeable. Still holes in coverage. No external antennas.

Overall Evaluation: Easy to set up, at least in terms of what I had already done for my prior router. Setting up wifi security, DHCP, login to Comcast and Mac Address cloning was no problem. Right off the bat, worked great. What's interesting is that the WN511T card I bought for my wife's laptop is superior (almost 2x the speed of the card I bought it for in the first place ... the draft-N card for my Dell Inspiron XPS M1710.Also, the reason no external antennas is both a PLUS AND MINUS is because that will mean no way to boost the power to the antennas later.

    Strengths: Gigabit wired router

Weaknesses: No faster or greater range than any "G" router I've used

Overall Evaluation: I needed a wireless router with gigabit throughput on the wired end and this router seemed to fit the bill. Setup went as expected and it worked fine on the wired end. I saw no great improvement on the wireless range and ended up adding a access point to cover the whole intended area. I know this is a "pre-N" version and hopefully a firmware update will help this but for now save your money if you can.

    Duration of ownership:7 Days

Strengths: Great wireless coverage and speed, Gigabit ports

Weaknesses: Have had a couple of DHCP renewal errors with the latest firmware (1.4.09NA)

Overall Evaluation: I replaced my D-Link DI-624 because it would drop connections on my kids' computer during games fairly frequently. I know it wasn't a wireless problem on the other router because the router was less than 10 feet from the PC. Anyway, I put in the new Netgear router and could not get the connection to drop at all. I copied about 20GB of movie data from my server and it worked flawlessly at 300Mb. I was encouraged by this, so I went ahead and relocated the router to my bedroom closet (which is pretty far from the office where the PC is) and ran the test again. Everything worked perfectly again and it now fluctuates between 75 and 200Mb - which I'm really happy with. We've been playing games on this thing for about a week now with no dropped connections. This router is definitely the next best thing to having a wired connection. I'm using this router with a WN311T adapter as well as the built in Intel wireless G adapter in my Dell notebook.

Strengths: Range and SpeedCool design GigE ports

    Weaknesses:

Overall Evaluation: I recently moved to a new home approx 2800 Sq. ft. I was getting dropped connections and dead spots. I wanted a high end router and got the RangeMax NExt Gigabit Edition. I am getting 100+ Mbps connections between my computer in my study and my daughter's laptop streaming our vacation videos wirelessly. The zones in my kitchen where I never used to get signal is all hotspots now. Overall a very favorable experience. I can also do Skype calls wirelessly from my laptop which was never possible with my g router. I also hear that Wi-Fi alliance is certifying these n products as is and every laptop provider is now planning on n enabled laptops. The debate is always on - do you get it now or do you wait... and I can say to all the guys out there who want to stream data, video, game, voice at high speed - go ahead and get the experience now! Just remember to download the latest firmware from the netgear.com website and install it on the router.

Overall Evaluation: Easy setup and really screams. A little pricey but still has great value. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for performance and reliablity. Interested in tech support since I have owned previous Netgear routers and tech support was not that great then.
