    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Quality brand, convenient size, affordable price

Weaknesses: you need to give a little push to paper tray to get it in/out

Overall Evaluation: The weakness I mentioned is because I put my printer on the floor carpet. I don't have any space left on my desk..My guess is, if the printer is put on a harder surface, this problem will not occur.Other than that, this is an excellent laser printer. With copy and scan functions, it's very convenient. I payed $160 including s/h and taxes and I guess it's a very good deal. Also, hardware and software installation/usage is pretty easy.

Strengths: Laser printer with copy and scan functionality for a great price!great quality printing and copyinglarge paper input tray

Weaknesses: a little slow on the warm up, but its not bad,

Overall Evaluation: I needed a new printer for my dorm room, but I wanted to buy a laser so I would actually not be paying even more out of pocket for cartridges. I decided on an all in one, so it won't be useless after college. I am really happy about this printer! I wish it was networkable, but that's not a big deal.

    Duration of ownership:2 Weeks

Strengths: Nice B/W print quality, convenient compact all-in-one, toner won't dry like inkjet.

Weaknesses: Power switch hard to reach on the back, power block & projecting cables/plugs waste a lot of space on the back.

Overall Evaluation: Initially, I bought it because of the compact size & small footprint. But when I try to put it on my shelf, I found that the power block is sticking out on the back with cable/plugs further projecting out. Therefore, the back of the unit can not lean against the wall & will wastes a lot of space on the back. Despite of the compact size, you will need a very deep shelf. It will stick out & waste quite a lot of table space if your table / work-station is leaning against the wall.Instead of putting the power switch infront where you can see & easy to reach, it is hidden on the very back of the unit where you can not see & very hard to reach. Other than those detail design flaws, it is a nice laser all-in-one.

    Duration of ownership:3 Days

Strengths: When it worked - nice print. Scan is fine if you have 3rd party program (Mac users)

Weaknesses: 2nd unit in 90 days has failed after 157 copies

Overall Evaluation: Bought new. Used it for around 100 cycles (copy and print) then the feeder system failed. Returned - good customer service. Got a ! refurbished ! unit. Now 157 cycles later it too has failed in the same manner. Customer service at this level is closed for the New Year's weekend. Still under warranty so expect to do another round trip return. If it worked I would give it very high rating - it has potential; but has not lived up to that - yet. Can't find any toner for it. The diminished supply that comes with the printer is good for now, since I have printed few pages. But some day I may need toner. Check that out before you buy.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Awesome quality printing, copying, and scanning

    Weaknesses: None found so far

Overall Evaluation: This is an outstanding all-in-one printer for the price (I got it for $100 after rebates from MacMall). I was expecting it to be of mediocre quality due to the low price, but I am amazed at how good it really is. It has a bunch of options and features, and seems like a durable, long-lasting product. Perfect for everyday home use. I think it's easily the best deal available in its class. And the replacement cartridges are fairly reasonably priced. I plan to keep this one for a long time.

    Duration of ownership:2 Weeks

Strengths: Fast printing, compact size, essentially silent when it is idle, best all around for it's set of features.

Weaknesses: Lot of noise when warming up, prone to jamming, doesnt come with USB cable

Overall Evaluation: This product is excellent for college students who needs low cost black and white printing(about 2 cents per page with toner saver enabled), an occasional scanner, and copy machine. It has a relatively small footprint and is very short (in height) for the features that it packs. The printer is prone to jamming though, and the first one i ordered was defective (paper feeder wheel wasn't spinning) so i had to send it into PCnation for a replacement. Samsung also provides pretty good tech support over the phone at no cost. 5 starts for one of the best in it's class of small, economic, MFC.

    Duration of ownership:2 Months

Strengths: SMALL Size -- it's the smallest laser printer that also scans & copies. Reliable -- this is a workhorse that keeps going, even w/lots of abuse.Ease of use -- simple to use, even for a technophobe.

Weaknesses: Yes, you can hear the fan, but it's just a bit of white noise. There's a few seconds delay before the 1st sheet prints, but then it spits out subsequent copies quickly.

Overall Evaluation: Great product if you're looking for a SMALL, low cost multi-function laser machine and you don't care about color. For home users w/limited space who do mostly text, there's nothing else on the market that's even close. This is the 3rd Samsung laser printer I've bought & they're all still up & running (ML-1710; ML-1740; and now the SCX-4200). They're sturdy little beasts that churn out thousands of copies w/no problems. Toner cartridges last for thousands of copies & can be refilled, too.The addition of a scanner & copier, in the same small footprint, is terrific. Both functions are easy to use - though I did print out the whole manual & found the scanning instructions invaluable.

    Weaknesses: making noise, weak copying

Overall Evaluation: I've been using this SCX-4200 for about a week. So far so good.Pros:Light Weight.Easy installation.Fast Printing.Cons:when it's not in idle mode, it makes noise all the time.Poor quality copy.If you're looking for a real MFC machine, this is not for you. However, If you're looking for a laser printer with something extra, this might be the right one. It works for me.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Compact design, fast printing speed, universal compatibility

    Weaknesses: loud fan noise

Overall Evaluation: The printing and copying speed is quite fast. If you are using Linux, this printer, I guess,is your best choice. It works with my ubuntu very well. It have the save 'save toner' mode and is said in the ad to save ink quite a lot. There is no usb cable along with the printer, so you have to buy a cable separately. But the usb interface of this printer is mini usb ,just the same as that on the usual external hard disk, so you use that if have one. The cartridge along with the printer is only a 1000-page-starter one, not the usual 3000-page one. I think this is the trick Samsung want to cut the cost. The cooling fan on the side is a little noisy in the idle mode. If your cost of the printer includes a samsung rebate, you won't expect to receive it soon. From my experience, Samsung rebate takes quite long time and they have bad reputation on it. My last Samsung rebate takes me almost a year, while there is no error in my submission. Well, in a word, this all-in-one printer is pretty well and good for the price.

    Duration of ownership:1

    Strengths: smaller, USB2.0

    Weaknesses: need less expensive cartridge

Overall Evaluation: Got it from MacMall at $150+$15SH. It will be $100 if receive all rebates . McMall shipped it with original manufacture package box. The box has been damaged in a couple of places during shipping. However, the printer is still oked. The layout design and outside shape look slimer than SCX4100 and solid built. Easily hook it up with Windows XP. Much quieter and faster than Samsung Laser printer 1430($200 years ago) I have. The letter printing is dark & sharp and looks great. The copy function is so so, no better than the All-in-one inkjet. The only weakness is that cartridge is expensive when I check online. Hopefully, there is a cheap refill similar as Samgsung 1430. I highly recommended this printer to anyone who wants printing and copying without worrying dried ink cartridge.
