    Duration of ownership:5 Months

    Strengths: NONE

Weaknesses: The phone is the worst. Nothing about the is good. I have had it replaced now going on 7 timesin 5 months because everything about it has failed. It has caused me to loose so much time in my business.

Overall Evaluation: BEWARE... DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PHONE... I am warning you. Don't waste your money. I waited so I could get my emails, use the bluetooth function and have access to my contacts. Never has worked for more than a couple of weeks at a timer before it started crashing, not getting emails and the bluetooth function acting up. It has been a total disaster. I am telling everyone I come in contact with about how aweful the phone is. The only positive is the the Verizon wirless tech support has been great! This is truely BUYER BEWARE!!!

    Weaknesses: NOT YET

Overall Evaluation: OUT OF ALL MY FRIENDS WITH PDAS, I WOULD SAY - TREO 700 IS A BETTER PHONE /PDA/CAMERA ANSAMBLE. IT WORKS VERY WELL - AND TAKES GOOD PICTURES IF ADEQUATE LIGHT PROVIDED. IT'S A LITTLE HEAVY - BUT LOOK AT IT'S FEATURES. 5 STAR - NO DOUBT. EXCELLENT PRODUCT FOR TIME BEING! HIGHLY RECOMMEND AS OF TOODAY AND PROBABLY FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS TO COME.

    Duration of ownership:1 Days

    Strengths: EVDO, Palmos

Weaknesses: Slow in switching applications, phone volume.

Overall Evaluation: My point of view is coming from the treo 650. The only thing I don't like is that the phone switches applications too slow at times. Also I do not like the placement of the application button. It is in the bottom right corner. It used to be in the upper left corner on the 650. I have not gotten used to the new placement over a month. I am right handed and this new placement has made this device a two handed unit because of that. The camera is much better than the 650. There is still no flash. Having streaming video and audio capabilities is awesome! It feels smooth and sleek in your hand. The speakerphone volume seems to be way too low. These are minor issues and would not stop me from purchasing this again.

Strengths: great plan, fun cool gadget

Weaknesses: heavy, resets often, some static

Overall Evaluation: I have a great plan, so far service is decent though it tends to reset while online once in a while. It has lots of great functions and decent battery life. I wish it wasn't so heavy. The camera is not great, best pics taken in daylight. Indoor photos are too dark as it doesn't have a flash. There's static on a alot of calls, not sure if it's the phone or the service. Cool phone easy to use.

    Duration of ownership:30 Days

Strengths: email, pda, sprint has good plans

Weaknesses: volume too low at times, delay when dialing, heavy, freezes with internet at times

Overall Evaluation: So far I've been happy this phone. Email works well and internet is decent, and I'm happy to have all the pda functions. It is a bit heavy, but it does a lot. The main problem is sometimes, the volume gets too low, and I'm unable to hear the other person. Sometimes when I make a call there is no ring, just an echo sound, so I must redial the call-- that is annoying. Also, some delays or freezes when ussing internet. Hopefully, I'll get a replacement that will fix these issues, but even with the problems, it's a phone I like.

    Duration of ownership:7 Days

Strengths: PDA, high speed internet, email clients, very good 5 way navigator

Weaknesses: Bulky, processor a bit slow, no VOIP client software

Overall Evaluation: Runs on palm OS with the same processor as in 650 (312 mhz). The speed seems to be a bit improved though and high speed internet is a great feature. Though would love to have better multimedia support but can live with the limited multimedia capabilities. One thing it lacks is the wifi support. Also lacking is voice dialing support with bluetooth headset. All things aside this is certainly the best PDA in the market today.

    Duration of ownership:1 Weeks

Strengths: Fully featured PDA, incredible options

Weaknesses: Poor camera quality (1.3 MP), heavy, expensive

Overall Evaluation: This is approximately the fifth palm operating system machine that I have owned over the past several years. I am very used to the setup, and it has changed very little over the years. Therefore, it was incredibly easy to make the adjustment to this device. Additionally, since I have not upgraded cell phones very much over the years, the purchase was more for the PDA than for the cell phone upgrade. That said, I am incredibly impressed with the many capabilities of this phone/pda/camera/mp3 player/game machine/etc. etc. There is pretty much nothing this thing cannot do! I no longer will carry around an iPod, since with a SD card, you can have up to 4GB of music right on this thing (and it can play it on its external speaker or with headphones). Camera, internet, AOL instant messanger, and games are other attractive features. I have not used it as a modem as is advertised, but look forward to testing that as well. There is a cost to this, however. Monetarily, it is quite expensive (though not unreasonable) and it is heavy compared to any other cell phone (unless you are Zach Morris stuck in the early 90s). Therefore, you will certainly want to take advantage of the bluetooth technology and get a good quality headset. Overall, it has all of the features of the best palm that I ever owned, plus premium cell phone features all in one great machine. I would highly recommend it if you can afford to take a step to one of the best products on the market today!

    Duration of ownership:35 Days

    Strengths: Advertised capabilities

Weaknesses: Can't live up to advertised capabilities. Buggy Bluetooth, poor battery life, heavy, fat, clumsy keyboard and navigation.

Overall Evaluation: While Sprint has an attractively priced Freedom plan, don't expect to pay that if you wish to use the phone to its fullest. For example, you cannot use the phone as a modem (for your laptop to provide EV-DO) unless you sign up for 1yr for $49.95 or 2yrs @ $39.95/ mo., that is in addition to what you already pay! I found this out later, despite explicit assurances that you could do so, and at no extra cost when buying the Treo 700p directly from Sprint. Did I mention that the folks at Sprint are lying thieves in every instance. Side note: Remember those days when Long Distance wars bombarded the airwaves with all the plans: MCI Friends and Family, AT&T, Sprint $0.10, etc. Then when you called, or got your first bill suddenly you realize there were a thousand undisclosed conditions and charges. Well for Sprint, those halcyon days never ended, now the game is just wireless. They are master salespeople and master thieves. Order their data services and you will learn first hand. Also, for fun try to find something useful on their website. If you can, you are good, or easily pleased.Lets play some word association games:- Sprint Vision PCS- Sprint Power Vision- Sprint PCS Business ConnectionWhat the heck are these (actually I have found out with research) and why do I need this alphabet soup to deal with?I just need to do some very basic tasks, like check email. When I first called Sprint about a minor sync issue, the representative started reading a script that after close to 5-minutes of reading, I said, ?hey can you put me through to technical support, I didn?t call to learn about the hundreds of marketing and legal concerns Sprint has, I am in a rush, like always, which is why I need such a phone.? Guess what his response was, yep, he hung-up on me. And, it has never gotten any better.I have had the 700P for 35 or so days. The battery takes 6 or so hours to charge and last about 12-hours on standby, or 30-minutes of PDA functions. Yep. Obviously defective. What to do. You tell me. I have been trying to get a new battery under warranty. 1st Sprint sends me to a specific Sprint store, tells me to bring my charger in case that?s the culprit, so I do just that. The store says they need to take an hour to check it out, so I said fine. Then he says, oops, you have no service plan, it will cost $30-50 to check. I said I?m not interested in getting it checked, I?m interested in warranty service, ?oh no sir, that?s only through Palm.? Guess what is says on the Palm website about warranty service, yep, only available through Sprint. So I called Sprint again last night, the woman was kind and empathized with the horrors Sprint hath wrought, then she said, ?oh battery,? click, and I?m back at the accessory sales dept. SO there, I explain this is a warranty service request, and around we go again. Did I mention every time you call Sprint, they start out with this is how much you owe, despite our company sending them their check the day the bill comes in. But, folks it is an omen. All they care about is billing you or selling, you. They could not care less what you want if they are not going to make another dollar today for whatever it is you want. Paying the $200 early termination fee just to get away from Sprint is starting to sound attractive!Back to the phone. Ok mine has a defective battery I would assume, I have ordered a Seidio 2400 mah battery which is 33% more amp hours as compared to Palm?s 1800mah standard battery --it seems to work fine from what I?ve read. This brings us to Bluetooth. I bought a Discovery 510 behind the ear Plantronics headset since it was recommended for the 700w by Plantronics. However, after pairing easily, I found that unless I did a soft reboot on the Treo before each use, the phone, though seeing the 510 earpiece, could not access it. Plantronics support was very helpful, and a pleasure to deal with, especially after my repeated horrors with Sprint. They were the ones that gave me the soft reboot trick. But, after a lot of online reading I notice many, many people have similar or worse problems with the pairing. So, it is the phone, and the software, not which earpiece you choose. For example, the Treo will turn off the Bluetooth enablement for inexplicable reasons?even when battery power is full, or while on a charger. Amazing, such a supposedly high-end phone cannot even perform such common tasks like reliably pairing and connecting with an array of Bluetooth earpieces. And there are other things, such as the odd choices made with the keyboard layout, the relatively large size of the phone, the poor speakerphone, awkward navigation between stylus and directional keys, etc. This phone appears to have been rushed to market, and I?m sorry I rushed to buy it. Now, I have a buggy, power hog phone, and 2-years of Sprint torture to look forward to...
