    Overall Rating: 3 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:3 Days

Strengths: Great graphics with good sound. Space battles are entertaining.

Weaknesses: Hard to control t times, short game (only 10 missions), multiplayer sucks

Overall Evaluation: This is an action adventure game like other Star Fox games. You are Fox and you get three partners that help you with your missions. Basically, you just shoot down enemies you see. Space combat are more interesting. Although sometimes it might be difficult to control your ship, it's fun. There are different guns in the game (like 6).I'd recommend this game to Star Fox lovers and people who like action adventure games. You search around for your targets and destroy them.I don't recommend this game who are not interested in this game genre as this game can be boring for you. This game is kind of challenging, especially space battles. You should pick up another game.

Strengths: Flight missions are enjoyable as a Starfox staple

    Weaknesses: Land missions are awkward

Overall Evaluation: Starfox was always meant to be in the skies. Something to do with its namesake. Namco ran with the license, trying to break it out of that mold, to somewhat less than perfect results. While the flying missions retain the fun of classic Starfox that we've known since the SNES days, the on-foot missions, as in Starfox Adventures, leaves us a bit wanting. There's nothing really wrong with them, but they certainly don't add anything to the game.

    Duration of ownership:2 Years

    Strengths: Flight Parts

    Weaknesses: Ground Parts, Short

Overall Evaluation: Star Fox Assault is a combination of the air battles that are the same idea as Star Fox 64 and ground parts that play out like a 3rd person shooter. The air battles are good as they play pretty much dead on like air battles in the previous Star Fox games most noteably like Star Fox 64 but the ground battles don't play as well as it can be tough to lock on to enemies and turning is kind of slow for your character. The single player game is fairly short at only a few hours to play though and while you have incentive to play though again to get a higher score, medals if you do well enough and higher difficulties to play though the levels at it would have been nice to have a longer single player game. The game also has split screen multiplayer for 2-4 players but it's fairly simple and is kind of an extra added after tough more so then anything such as the case was with the multiplayer mode in a lot of N64 games. I would recommend Star Fox Assault still to fans of the Star Fox series as while the game is short and the ground battles could have been better the air parts are still done up really well.

    Overall Rating: 4 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: The closest thing to classic Star Fox action in recent years, graphics and replay value are pretty strong.

Weaknesses: Non-flying missions feel awkward and out of place

Overall Evaluation: Star Fox Assault is the latest addition to the Star Fox franchise, and while it comes closest to regaining the status of the older games, it still has some parts that shouldn't be a part of this game. The main feature, the aerial space combat, is intact and well-done, but the ground-based gameplay feels generic and out-of-place in this game. It's still a good choice for anyone looking for a 3D sci-fi shooter, but it would have been better for the developers to focus on the essence of the Star Fox series instead of adding unneeded run-and-gun missions.

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: Good music, graphics, designs

Weaknesses: You may hate the ground missions

Overall Evaluation: I'll say this now, you may love or hate the ground missions. It's not they're bad, it's just that this game is Star Fox and you would expect to use the Arwing, Landmaster, etc. throughout the game. If you can find this at a good price, then go ahead and pick it up.

    Duration of ownership:2 Months

Strengths: (1) Star Fox gets back to flying! (2) Discounted price

Weaknesses: (1) Ground missions are not as fun as the flying missions

Overall Evaluation: Developers are still deviating from the tried-and-true Star Fox formula, however, Star Fox Assault is more or less the flying Star Fox formula you would expect. In the last Star Fox release (Star Fox Adventures), UK developer Rare stuck the Star Fox characters and story on a abysmal Zelda clone attempt. Here, things are looking brighter as Namco revives the flying elements that should define a Star Fox game and injects some ground based combat which makes for an okay diversion in between flying missions. The characters and storyline of the Star Fox universe have never been very well done, so I am surprised by the desire to expand on the characters and the continual effort to focus on them apart from their spacecraft. However, this is a pretty well done game and is a fun diversion even if it does not do anything mind-blowing or uniquely creative.

Strengths: This game is much better than the origal Star Fox for GC.

Weaknesses: Lesser number of missions for single player mode.

Overall Evaluation: The best part of the game is the space battles just like the ones in Star Fox 64. For players who want a shooting game without the blood and gore, this is absolutely perfect. The graphics is excellent, and the action is pretty intense. If your a real Star Fox 64 fan, you might get a little disappointed because the missions now use the Arwing, Landmaster and on-foot also. If you don't mind these, then this is a really good game.

    Overall Rating: 4 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Solid graphics, engaging space battles, multiplayer support

Weaknesses: Weak story and character development, uninspired ground missions, lackluster sound, short overall length

Overall Evaluation: Where developer Rareware took Starfox to the action adventure genre with Starfox Adventures, developer Namco tries to steer the series back to its roots with Starfox Assault. Series fans will welcome the return to the space flight combat of Starfox 64. These segments are genuinely engaging and fun, but a number of the ground-based missions aren't nearly as exciting to play, mostly because of the cumbersome controls. The story involves some new alien threat, but the characters and plot aren't very important. Series fans will definitely want to pick this up now that it's become part of Nintendo's Player's Choice value line. New players can probably have a good time with it too for $20 or less.

    Overall Rating: 3 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: All the star fox space action

Weaknesses: Everything that's not the original space action

Overall Evaluation: I would give it 3 and a half stars if I could, but it's not quite up to snuff for 4 stars. The space action is fantastic. It is 5 star material. But the on-foot and tank missions really hurt this title. It's still fun and can be found cheap so any star fox fan should give it a try, but the non-space missions and the helplessness of the rest of your crew make many of the missions frustrating. Overall it's not that bad, but not a classic star fox game.

Strengths: Great star fox flying action

Weaknesses: When you aren't playing the great flying action

Overall Evaluation: Star Fox 64 is a great game, whenever it gets released on the VC, I am sure people will realize it still holds up. The flying missions were solid, but so were the tank machines. In Assault, the flying machines are great, but when you get out of your craft, levels get kind of wonky and play control becomes more frustrating. Having complete control of movement is not as enjoyable as levels where you are locked into the specific rail. Like in Star Fox 64, the multiplayer is not that enjoyable, nor is the system that robust. However, this game is leagues better than Star Fox Adventures, a point I cannot stress enough.
