Duration of ownership:1 Months
Strengths: Fast printing, easy set up. Sharp text in black and white.
Weaknesses: A little slow on start up.
Overall Evaluation: This is my second All In One printer and by far much better than the Dell A960 it replaced. Was easy to set up and has many more features. The Fax allows the user more selections than most All In Ones on the market. Replacement ink tanks cost less than Dell and many other brands and produce beautiful colors and sharp black and white prints.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Built like a tank, auto document feeder works very well, individual ink tanks, g3 fax capability, intuitive software, great quality scans and prints, fast!
Weaknesses: Overall it is a bit bulky; no built-in networking support
Overall Evaluation: I absolutely love this office all-in-one. If you have a home office space that is full of papers and clutter, then you need this machine. I've already run over 300 pages worth of documents through the ADF in just a few days. It's really easy to turn your paper into images or PDFs, meaning no proprietary format for the scanned images (ala Visioneer's paperport products). The machine has many buttons available on it to easily navigate without the use of the pc. The software included with the printer is full of useful features and is easy to use. Despite the fact that there is no networking support, this device is so easy to use that you really won't care unless you're in a very distributed environment trying to share a printer. All text and colors are produced by the printer are very sharp. My only regret is not getting this machine sooner.

Strengths: Automatic feeder works great for docsDouble-sided scanning and printingSeparate ink tanks for colors
Weaknesses: Audomatic feeder doesn't work for photosInk is expensive -- no third party ink yet
Overall Evaluation: I scan almost every piece of mail I receive. Bills, bank statements, tax forms, etc. Up until now, I've been using a separate flatbed scanner and a printer when I need to output something. Recently, the printer and the scanner both started showing signs of age, and I decided to replace them with an all-in-one.I was deciding between going for the cheapest thing I could find (probably a Lexmark or Brother) or going high-end and getting what I really wanted. Based on my recent experiences with several inkjet printers, I decided that an HP or a Canon would give me the best output with the least amount of ink used. Since I scan so many documents, I wanted a document feeder. And since I had a big box of old photos that I wanted to digitize, a good scanner was a must.I had dreamed of loading the document feeder with a stack of old photos and letting it go to town while I sat back and watched. But somehow, I knew that wouldn't work. The minimum size of a document to send through the feeder is bigger than a standard 4x6 photo. And forcing the pictures to feed just resulted in a feed error or a horribly cropped picture. Luckily, the scanner software includes a "gang scanning" feature. I can put 4 photos on the flatbed and let the scanner detect the edges. It will automatically separate and crop the pictures. In my few hours of testing, I found that it got things right almost all of the time -- much better than the gang scanning feature built into Photoshop Elements. The print quality is quite good -- just what I'd expect from Canon. Unfortunately, the printer uses the new "8 series" ink, so you can't get third-party ink cartridges yet. The carts run about $12 each.Overall, I'm very pleased. The 530 is ideal for the large amount of document scanning I do and the software is much better than what came with my old Visioneer scanner.
