Strengths: Can turn off low-battery warning beeps.Third party battery is available.
Weaknesses: None
Overall Evaluation: I have used this phone for more than a year. I did not have any problem at all. I am buying a second set as a gift. It is possible to turn off the nerve-wrecking low-battery warning beeps that poke you every 5 seconds while talking. An audible low-battery alert would be useful when the phone is not in use. It is totally meaningless during a conversation. I just had to redial once a year or so, but I can avoid spoiled conversations. Unfortunately this Vtech series of phones are going away and their new phones dare to annoy.I started to think that phone manufacturers are using this annoying low-battery beep-beep "feature" just to make people throw away their batteries (or even phones) sooner. I encourage everybody to write to phone manufacturers and ask them to eliminate this nonsense. You don't had to pay $25 for a GE-TL26511 battery pack at Vtech outlet store. Exactly the same part number is available for $5 at several other Internet stores.

Strengths: Excellent phone, purchased another because I needed the charger. Already have 4 phone network. Good to have an extra
Weaknesses: model 2461 has been discontinued and unable to purchase equipment separately, I would have preferred to have just purchased a charger without the phone.
Overall Evaluation: This is great phone. I have the model 2461 base and just recently replaced it due to the answering machine no longer working. We wanted another phone in our garage, but we did not have the charger so we purchased another phone and charger. I think this system will last us for some time now since we have extra phones. I like the memory on it and the caller Id. It is simple to set to the preferences a person prefers (tone and volumne of ring, entering names and phone numbers in the memory, etc). I would recommend this phone over my previous cordless phone which I purchased from one of the long distance carriers.

Strengths: Great phone. Very sturdy and fits well in hand.
Weaknesses: Not able to find product on open market
Overall Evaluation: The Vtech products were very compatible with my current phone system. Phone works great with clear reception and all parts needed were included. It distinguishes itself by Handset 2 on the display. Quick charge and put it to use in less than a day.

Strengths: Over all a sound phone.
Weaknesses: none
Overall Evaluation: This is a great add on phone. Works with VT2421, VT2431, and VT2461. The Phone has great range and is pretty solid. The antenna is the only weak part about it. I dropped one of these off my stairs which is about seven feet to the ground (cement) and I broke off the antenna tip but it still works fine. (glued it back on can't even tell) I got this one to expand from three phones to four phones.

Duration of ownership:5 Weeks
Strengths: 2-line operation; page base to handset, handset to base and handset to handset; handsfree speakerphone in handset. Extra battery in base allows use of phone without AC power for +/-1 hour.
Weaknesses: Occasional static from 802.11g wireless computer network; no transfer of name/number memory from handset to handset; no call timer.
Overall Evaluation: The VTech 20-2421 base unit and 20-2420 handset are great values. 50 number memory. 2-line operation is easy to use. The "soft" buttons displayed on the screen are easy to use.Caller ID display very handy. Redial memory works great, too. In November, 2004, some retailers had the base, two handsets and extra battery all for $130.00.

Strengths: Works just like the one that comes with the base.
Weaknesses: Can't give each handset a name
Overall Evaluation: The phone works great. Since you already have to have the phone which comes from the base, you will know what you are getting with this phone. One feature which I noticed on my dad's AT&T phone which this phone doesn't have is you can't give each handset a name...they are just "handset 1, handset 2, etc."

Strengths: Easy to connect to existing base.Compact charging base can go anywhere.
Weaknesses: Need to reprogram all phone numbers in each new handset.Wish handsets could hold more numbers, but it does hold quite a bit as is.Editing numbers not quite the same as original phone, but doable
Overall Evaluation: I purchased two additional handsets to add to my existing base unit. No one has them in stores anymore, had to order online, but still cheaper than buying a whole new cordless phone with ability to add handsets. Basically easy to set up after charging over night, then coding for base to connect it. I have had my base with handset for a few years with no complaints. I really like having the speakerphone in the handset, it comes in really handy. Volume control is also helpful. Managing call waiting on it is also easy, very easy to read, larger print than most in the window. Easy to read in the dark, lights up when you push any button. Overall, just what I needed to keep using my existing base and handset after moving to a bigger place.

Strengths: easy to connect.

Overall Evaluation: Good handset for the money. I can dial and talk from another room without having to have a phone line installed in that room. The handset fits very very very well in my hand ant the colors are very nice. I have owned this phone for over three years and I hanve not had one day of trouble in the three plus years that I own it.

Strengths: Signal quality, durability.
Weaknesses: User interface, display not backlit.
Overall Evaluation: I am a previous Siemens Gigaset 2420 owner. That product had a perfect user interface but the sound quality had major problems. I worked endlessly with Siemens with no success. My requirements were for a two line, cordless multi-handset phone system with answer machine. This product, nine months ago, was the only game in town. Motorola and AT&T may now have products. I am happy with Vtech, but miss the user experience with the Siemens product but not the hassle.
