  Overall Evaluation: Okay first things first...if you are going to buy this camera you MUST go buy screen protectors. It has an amazing LCD screen and you don't want to scratch it all up. I just found some universal screen protectors and was able to cut them down to fit the screen. Do it, they cost under $8 for a pack of 10. You will need to buy a realistic size memory card. I purchased a 4GB SD card and everything works perfectly. Depending on the file size you use I found the 4GB card can hold between 800-2000 images...choose your file type carefully. Another great feature of this camera is the zoom, a surprising 6X. I took this camera to the Kennedy Space Center and was amazed by the zoom. We were told that we stood 3 miles from the shuttle, I was able to zoom in so far to the shuttle I could see a person standing on the stair way. So close the shuttle was unable to fit in the screen window. WOW! This camera retails for $600 and I was unable to find it in any local stores. It is a little heavier then most camera, but it is well built and solid. I recommend buying this camera online from a reputable seller, no tax no shipping. I got mine for $468, great deal.

  Overall Evaluation: I totally satisfed with Canon G7, so I think this purchase will be last purchase for a digita camera in my life. Shipping was extremly fast. I got this product in 2days after I place the order.

  Overall Evaluation: As a former Canon DSLR 20D user, this camera is really easy to use and the photo quality is really great compare to other similar product. Before I purchase this camera, I compare this model with Panasonic LX2, the advantage of LX2 is the 16:9 picture mode, but the G7 beat LX2 in picture quality and the way to operate. With 6x optical zoom and manual focus, you can take great shot in a long distance. The only thing I am not so happy about it is the accessory bag of the G7. In Europe market, you can purchase DCC-600 for G7. In Japan market, you can buy SC DC-50 for G7. But the one for US market is ugly and not good.

  Strengths: Great camera, with a perfect look. Small enough to be easy to carry around but big on features. Great pictures and it has a lot of manual settings you can play with. Also the price is not too bad.

  Weaknesses: LCD display does not flip as compared with the previous G6, so that makes it a little more difficult to take pictures of yourself. Also,the 32 MB SD included is useless.

  Overall Evaluation: I've bought this camera as a replacement to my old Powershot S2, and so far even if the optical zoom is less, this camera looks more compact and less heavy which makes it perfect to carry around. Would recommend this to amatory photographers as myself.

  Strengths: Sturdy consruction, 10MP, Image Stabilization, Face Recognition!!

  Weaknesses: not many, could have had a battery meteer (it does use proprietary LIon, most ofthose have meters)

  Overall Evaluation: Great camera, fast starup, good access to detailed functions--has an iso dial right on the top left of the camera. feels like an slr, even has a hot shoe for external flash. nice design--easy to hold, not too heavy, feel sturdy, comes with a leather neck strap--small enough to carry in your jacket around your neck. Has small piece of rubber instead of bg hand grip-it works, some may find it too small, but it work. Looked at other cameras, but for the size and performance, I think you can't go wrong with this one!Happy Photographing!

  Strengths: Great 2.5 inch screen that looks like a HDTV. The zoom is unreal. You can zoom in on a dime from ten feet away and take a focused picture of it.

  Weaknesses: The display screen, although clear and beautiful, gets fingerprints on it very easy. There isn't a great place to hold the camera so finger smudges are going to happen.

  Overall Evaluation: This camera was purchased for an office. We do not have a professional photographer on staff so it was necessary to get a camera that had great auto settings. The flash works like a charm, no more washed out faces and ugly yellow-brown background due to poor indoor lighting. Yes, this camera has a lot of special features like photography of fireworks and moving kids, but I've found that just leaving it on auto works better. The pictures are turning out just how I had hoped. Now we have something good enough to publish.

  Strengths: Functionality, user friendly, GREAT pics, size, and build qaulity.

  Weaknesses: None so far except that the included 32MB SD card is a joke. AT max res you can hold a whopping 6-7 pics before it is full. With memory prices as low as they are and as high res the camera is Canon should have included a 512MB card at the least.

  Overall Evaluation: This camera replaced our Canon PowerShot S500. I wanted to go with a true dSLR but my wife didn't want something that big...we do have an EOS Rebel APS camera also. We needed something that could take very good pics of our alpacas to use in advertising for our farm but also wanted something that was small enough that we would actually not mind carrying it at the alpaca shows and on vacations. The G7 fits that bill to a "T". We were not able to see the camera in person prior to ordering it and when I saw a G6 at a store, I got a little worried that we had made a mistake in ordering the G7. When it arrived the other day boy was was I relieved to see that it is a lot smaller than the G6. We are very happy with the over all size. I didn't like the smaller ELPH cameras since they always seemed too hard to hold and this resulted in a lot of blurry shots. The build quality is excellent. The G7 actually feels better built than our Rebel! The weight of the camera is just right...not too light making you feel like you could lose it at any second while not being over burdensome. I do wish Canon would have made the rubber "grip" for your thumb a bit larger but I am already getting used to it. We chose the G7 over both the SD800IS and the A710IS for several reasons. Neither of us really liked the grip on the A series and the fact that it used AA batteries (alkaline or rechargeable. The SD800IS was just too small and slippery in my hands. We also like the optical zoom (we don't use digital zoom) of the G7 over the other two. With our Rebel, we always seemed to use the 28-200 mm lens. The G7 gives us essentially the same, 35-210 mm, focal length without the bulk. I will probably look into some of the add-on wide and telephoto lens in a while for those occasions that I would like to get a bit more out of the camera. I also like that my kids won't be placing their fingers all over the lens since it retracts. We have taken over 500 pics already and only 2-3 have been bad quality pics but that was mostly due not having the camera set in the right mode. We love the the new face recognition AF. It makes shooting our kids easy. The flash is a lot more effective than the last camera. Some of this may also be due to the greatly increased functionality of the camera itself as well as the image stabilization. My wife is very happy that I "insisted" on the IS. She was known for taking blurry/shaky pics but she has yet to take a single one! I have compared the pics taken so far with those from both our S500, EOS Rebel APS, and our older ELPH 370Z (APS). The Rebel always took better pics but being film based we were not always sure if we had the right shot of our animals to use in the ad we were shooting for. The pics we took in our barn turned out better than any others taken so far. The combination of the IS and the excellent flash made these pics turn out awesome. Shooting livestock is always challenging to say the least, especially at a show were they are all on edge. We now will no longer have to worry about it. We will be able to see the pics and with IS, not have to worry about my wife's shaky pics. We have ordered the underwater case since we spend a lot of time in the water and snow. No more renting cameras for these events/vacations. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone looking at a high end point and shoot even if they will never use all of the functions/features of this camera. My wife will NEVER use anything other than auto and 1 or 2 of the scene selections but the G7 offers great pics in these modes so, for her, it does not matter. I will use the manual modes and several of the other scene modes to do more technical picture taking but will also utilize the auto settings for the spur of the moment. I prefer the fixed but larger LCD of the G7 vs the swivel LCD of the G6. I also don't miss the RAW file format. We have it in our digicam but have yet to use it. We do not take pics for a living and jpeg works just fine for our needs. We have been given complements on our photos of our animals, farm, and kids. Good photos are not produced in an editing program anyway. The G7, may very well, become our only camera!

  Overall Evaluation: Nothing really special about this camera. Lots of features but most of them are useless. Would wait for Canon S80's follow-up or get the Nikon D80. This tweener thing sucks.

  Overall Evaluation: I got this camera for a week. Alway prefer Canon even though it's made by the Japanese not Americans.Purchased Fuji before and it breaks down after the 1 year warranty. Canon is very reliable. I had purchased 2 Canons since my Fuji and it's still working. Likes: It's easy to change the setting with the turn of you thumb on the controller. You can change from indoor to outdoor in a second or two. To watch your picture, you just press one button and don't even need to turn on the camera.The camera turn on and off very fast.Picture and video quality is top of the industry. The video recording capablity is the reason I purchase this camera. 15fps with 1024x768 compare with 640x480 of the older models. It takes great picture and video with minimum lighting indoor or outdoor.You don't need a camcorder with this camera. Just get a few 4GB SD Card or download the files to a DVR or a MP3 player.Many people complaint about the screen not been able to rotate and no RAW data to do editing. If you need all that non-sense, you should get a professional dSLR instead.Dislike: It's hard to hold with one hand, which you should never do anyway when taking a picture or video. Neck strap needs to be bigger. Canon should include a camera case and a hand strap for those that want it on there belt. The price is a bit high. However, it's dropping every week. So, wait a month and you can find it for under $500 net.Bottom line: It's a professional's secondary camera. Who wants to carry a bucky SLR like camera on vacation or regular use. It's fits well in your wife's bag or on your belt. If you are like me, this is currently the best camera in the industry. My selling point is the video quality and ease of use for novice or professionals that want to manually control the shots. I am a bit disappointed with image stablilation. Always though it would control the shakes like the ads. It works great with flash, but I don't see any different when it's without the flash. It's alway better to let a novice that your picture with the self-timer that way their hand will be steadier based on my experience. I hate it when the picture comes out blury. They don't seem to care about your picture.My rating is based on my week's experience. I will follow up with another review if I notice anything major. If only Canon can make it smaller and lighter like the SD models.
