Weaknesses: cheap product, do not buy

Overall Evaluation: do not buy this product, iogear coustomer service is no help either. virtually not compatible with any new printers. it may look nice but crappy technology. it does have usb connection but that doesn't work at all either.

    Weaknesses: not compatible

Overall Evaluation: this device sucks. even with the usb connection i was not able to get it to work. i tried iogear csr and they couldn't help. apparently it's crap-shoot as to whether this device works with any printer or bluetooth computer. i suggest you stay away from this item.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Compact. Has parallel port connection.

Weaknesses: Not as easy to set up, bluetooth connect for every computer

Overall Evaluation: It is a nice concept for local network printing. However, it is not the easiest to setup and not the fastest to print once it is setup. No wonder there are not so many bluetooth print server out there in the market. There must be a reason. You need bluetooth capability for every computer for printing. I would recommand getting a wifi print server instead for better coverage and easy of use.

Strengths: Great for people without wi-fi but need print server. Gets the job done

    Weaknesses: none

Overall Evaluation: Overall I like the print server because i do not have a wi-fi network setup but I do need to share teh printer with the laptop. The only downfall is that it supports only printing and not scanning or anything else on a all in one printer. but then again so do all th other wireless print servers. It get the job done and is fine.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: grat id dead, cheap price.

    Weaknesses: too slow

Overall Evaluation: I boight this cause my laptop has built in bluetooth. There are 2 things that i dont like about this product, the speed and compatibiulity. Bluetooth data transfer is orders of magnitudes slower then usb 2.0. Making printing times resemble the old parallel port days. ALso, this device does not support multifinctiopn printes. So, basically if you have aprinter that scans as well as prints...your out of luck.

    Duration of ownership:12 Weeks

Strengths: No drivers or pairing required to set-up.

    Weaknesses: Poor range

Overall Evaluation: This unit has a poor to weak signal aquisition. I tried it through roughly three walls. The signal barely made it and was very very unreliable. The distance from sender to receiver was no more than 25 feet. To get a reliable connection I had to reduce the transmitter distance another 5 or so feet to get a 'decent' connection. When it worked it worked okay. To provide a comparison, I use a bluetooth headset that cost about the same money. It holds a good quality signal through two walls to my cell phone and never comes close to dropping the connection. This adapter and the transmitter are powered (versus battery operated like my headset) and give below acceptable performance. I'm going wi-fi. This unit and the transmitter are both IOgear products. The transmitter is rated to go up to 330 feet. So either the parallel adapter unit can't receive for beans or it can't send the signal back to the tranmitter well enough to get the process functioning. My guess is that the adapter can't send confirmations back to the sender/computer and thus will not set up a good link. I suggest that if you need to send the signal through a wall, make sure it's very close to the adapter. I also have another IOgear transmitter in the same room as the adapter. It works fairly reliably, when the adapter doesn't need resetting. I would say don't buy this product unless 1) you're in fairly close proximity to the unit with few obstructions 2) you are prepared to evaluate the adapter in time to return the product if it doesn't work correctly. Look to wi-fi as a better longer range alternative. Or wait for the upcoming UWB systems if you can wait until early 2006.
