    Strengths: NONE, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. IF YOU RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS, RETURN IT IMMEDIATELY AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK.

    Weaknesses: As an electronics engineer, I can tell you that the design is extremely poor. It will fail because of bad design. Some genius, and I use the term loosely decided this shredder needed to be operated with a micro-controller. So right there is yet another point of failure. An on/off switch and a way to reverse the internal motor is more than enough circuitry to make this work. Everything else they have added is junk! You can't repair the unit either. The relays are from Tianbo in China and they do not have a north american distributorship. There is a 100 ohm resistor that is obviously the wrong choice as part of the rectifier circuitry, and it gets way too hot. Read the reviews, it can melt the solder and most likely is a fire hazard. Underwriter's Laboratories did not do due diligence on this piece of garbage.

    Strengths: It will shred as it states. Multiple sheets even tried a CD and it worked well.

    Weaknesses: Stopped working. Even when told by the sales clerk that they have a tendancy to do so i ignored the suggestion of buying the extended warranty.

    Overall Evaluation: I came here looking for info on what to do and where to ship to take advantage of the 1 year warranty and found a lot of the same. I dont want to spend money to send it to India as one post states. What a waste.

    Strengths: Nice compact desktop design

    Weaknesses: Stops working. Unsafe heat build-up, potential fire hazard

    Overall Evaluation: I purchased two of these for my home, and one as a gift. All three units stopped working within 6 months. Light use only. The warranty said to return it to the Staples store and I did. At first, the manager did not want to take it back, but I pressed and he finally gave me replacement units. Now a year later, one of the replacements quit working. So, I removed the 6 screws holding the top of the unit on. Some people have said that it was a blown fuse on the circuit board. On mine, the fuse was okay, but it was clear that the board had overheated and melted the solder holding a 100 ohm resister to the board. The board was charred near the resistor. I soldered the resistor back on, and got the unit to work again. However, I don't think that this unit is safe to use. If the unit was overheated, shouldn't the overheat light come on

    Strengths: It shreds paper.

    Weaknesses: Won't stop running.

    Overall Evaluation: It seems that I'm doing better than most folks with this thing. Mine works when I turn it on. ALL THE TIME, WHENEVER it's turned on! It's supposed to stop running when the paper has gone through, but it seems to think that there is always paper in the slot. So I have to turn it off to stop the shredding process. The Staples web site ( http://product-support-staples.com/ ) is useless.

    Strengths: it's a good, solid machine that shreds well, but...

    Weaknesses: it only lasted a month of light use before failing to come on and becoming inoperable. Looks like they are closing these out for a reason.

    Overall Evaluation: I'm returning mine. I'll shop around for something similar but better. I'm afraid that buying another would result in the same problem. Staples must have had so many returns they are stopping selling them.

    Overall Evaluation: First one died after a few months of light use. Got a replacement and it's dead right out of the box. Garbage. Buy something else.

    Weaknesses: Dies under heavy use

    Overall Evaluation: Worked fine for seven months of light use, then died one weekend when I was doing more shredding than usual. Forget it. Buy another brand.

    Strengths: Great work-out carrying this thing from and back to Staples.

    Weaknesses: Does not shred. Stops working after very little use.

    Overall Evaluation: Staples is wasting their customers time by producing this item. Bought one and returned it after it stopped working (2 days). Thought maybe it was a lemon and got another one as replacement. It literally worked for about 5 minutes. You are wasting your time with this purchase.

    Strengths: Shreds junk mail without the need for opening.

    Weaknesses: Doesn't last very long!

    Overall Evaluation: We bought this unit a little more than six months ago. At the time, we liked it so much, that we bought one for my mother-in-law. Bad news. Both ours and hers died within a day or two of each other. We will never buy this shredder again.

    Overall Evaluation: Worked for 2 days then quit working. We threw out our box so now it is ours. This is the second time we bought a shredder from Staples that quit or didn't work quickly. Our last one also didn't last long. I guess we're slow learners.
