  Strengths: Low price, Easy installation.

  Weaknesses: You need to have your internet router close to where you have your television hookup. (Can be resolved by getting a ethernet wireless bridge or using long cables)Can't record

  Overall Evaluation: If what you need is to be able to send your television to a computer then you need the slingbox. Whether you want to watch the game in your back yard where you have no television hookup or you want to watch your local news on your trip to Costa Rica the slingbox is what you need. You can also watch your programs on your phone, palm or other wifi gadget.

  Overall Evaluation: I have my Slingbox hooked up to my home network wirelessly using one of the recommended devices on the Slingbox website (a Linksys adapter). Works perfectly, absolutely no major issues. Only problem I had (which was my fault) was the wireless device was automatically connecting to a different network in my area instead of my own. Once configured, there were no more problems. I am very happy there are no "service fees"... in days where it seems like there's a monthly fee for everything, it's nice you can buy it and use it without any fees. Streaming quality varies, but is usually quite acceptable. Controls and features work perfectly, although remote control lag time is sometimes annoying. I won't complain much about that, as it's a small annoyance. I use it to control a series 2 directv tivo system.

  Strengths: This is unbelievable technology that helps you enjoy your home entertainment from anywhere with an internet-connected computer.

  Weaknesses: The AV only has one input for source. I wish you could connect more than one.

  Overall Evaluation: I bought this unit to be able to watch my cable TV programs when I am traveling. Oftentimes, available programming in hotels is not what I wanted. I also planned to use this to watch live sport events from the office, but alas, I could not connect because of an office firewall or the port is not available in the office network. I had problems in installation at first, because my router was not listed in the list during set-up. I called the very competent Technical Support and they remotely connected to my computer and set up my router without any problems.

  Overall Evaluation: Pic quality could be better at full screen, but that may be because of my video card on me laptop. I am currently slinging to my lattitude d600 with centrino. For what this provides, worth every penny!

  Strengths: Easy to setup. Works as advertised. Program and watch my DircTv Tivo anywhere!

  Weaknesses: Wish it came with the mobile client. (Have to buy separately)

  Overall Evaluation: This is a really well designed product that is a glimpse of the future of media entertainment. I am able to stream my Tivo to my laptop when I'm on the road and with the mobile phone software I can also stream to my Q phone. This is a must have for Tivo users as it gives you the ability to program your Tivo anywhere in the world. Great product!

  Strengths: Easy Setup, Great Software, Ability to watch recorded programs on my Tivo, Tivo Remote on Slingbox is exactly the same as the actual remote. NO SUBSCRIPTION!

  Weaknesses: None so far.

  Overall Evaluation: I am absolutely floored by how this thing works and how easy it was to setup. I now can watch my TV on my PPC 6700 smartphone streaming over the internet and the picture is amazingly GREAT. I am very impressed by this product....and the best part is, I don't have to ever pay for a subscription which is a major plus. This is truly a revolutionary product.

  Strengths: I had no trouble with installation. The user interface is very user friendly.

  Weaknesses: Full screen viewing on 20" 16:10 screen is a little grainy. Not the type of quality you would want to project onto a plasma TV, but good for a PC or Pocket PC.

  Overall Evaluation: There is a noticeable delay as Slingbox caches the signal before it sends it to the player. This created a bit of a problem when trying to coordinate a sports broadcast with local radio announcers. Its also a bit of a pain when when I pause/rewind/fast-forward through programming.

  Strengths: Able to watch and contorl my dishTV or ReplayTV service on any computer in my home. Can use also when away from home by just connecting to the internet.

  Weaknesses: none

  Overall Evaluation: If you have kids out of town and don't want to spend extra cash on getting cable service for them, this is great to let them share your cable or satellite service. They most likely have hi-speed internet access, so this allows them to tap into your system at home. Perfect for DVR users. If you go on a trip and have hi-speed internet access and a laptop, you can view your recorded shows that you didn't have time to watch at home.

  Strengths: Easy Setup for the most part. No problems at all with getting it put together and up and running

  Weaknesses: To do a factory reset you need to be on the original network it was setup on.

  Overall Evaluation: Bought the Slingbox AV , took about 15 minutes to get it working on my home network. Got good quality video even on wireless with WAP enabled. Works great from my office as well.   Strengths: - easy to setup- great video quality intranet- probably good video quality depending on upload speed- price was right! (close to $100US)

  Weaknesses: - video not fantastic with bandwith limitations of my cable provider

  Overall Evaluation: The setup was very easy. Online help to set up the router was a breeze. The picture quality is fine and works with our satellite receiver. Obviously for intranet streaming (ie. within the home) the quality is great! But our cable provider limits the bandwith somewhat to about 30kb/s upload, and so our picture quality while away isn't always that good. Until now, I had streamed video via a video-in hookup to a computer near the satellite receiver, but it required me to manually remotely log in and turn everything on. Now with the slingbox, it's a snap!
