Overall Rating: 4 Star Review
Duration of ownership:4 Years
Strengths: Good quality recording, fine sound, and easy to use.
Weaknesses: Can freeze computer sometimes
Overall Evaluation: Bought my DVC 4 years ago, and it's only recently broken (the sound has cut out from the left side.) Been quite an excellent capture card for my uses, will definitively be buying another.

Strengths: If you have the right hardware, it works splendid. Great everything and is the only thing of it's kind I know of.
Weaknesses: Sometimes the drivers do not install right. I think it's not compatible with ATI graphic cards.
Overall Evaluation: My computer is literally brand new, albeit a floor model. I have run system scans and there is no known viruses on it. But my desktop fails to work properly. I have a Compaq with a Pentium 4 and an ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 and the blasted thing freezes every time I do anything with the DVC90. But on my dad's laptop, It worked absolutely perfectly. He's got a dell.

Strengths: Reasonable price and software appears to have lots of goodies.
Weaknesses: Doesn't capture video, sound is garbled and tech support is non-existant.
Overall Evaluation: I've attempted to use the DVC90 on a new HP computer with an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series video card, 1G memory, and 8 USB 2.0 ports. I'm running it off a Sony analog Hi8 video camera (CCD-TR940). It fails to capture any video under any combination of settings, the sound is garbled, and tech support hasn't responded to a query that I made a week ago. Tried running it on my old Compaq Presario (512M, ATI Radeon 9200, USB 2.0) and the computer locks up when I hit "Start Capture". I've tried running it with Studio 9, Windows Movie Maker, Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006 editor, and Muvee Maker - it fails to capture video with any of these software products. I suspect that the hardware and / or drivers aren't compatible with ATI or Sony equipment. I'm going back to the store for a refund tomorrow.

Strengths: none
Weaknesses: analog capture is not working
Overall Evaluation: I agree flaming a product when it doesn't work because of the user's ignorance is misleading. However, I am running into problems that I can't seem to fix in capturing analog video from a Sony High8 Video camera using this device. I am an experienced PC user who has editied video previously with an older USB Pinnacle video capture device on a different computer. I am working with an almost new Compaq Presario V2410US laptop. The software installed correctly and my computer recognizes the device and the drivers are working properly. I have tried every setting I can possibly use but no go. It simply isn't working. I am going to continue to research and trying to solve the problem. It is possible that I am missing something. However, I can say with confidence that, at the very least, this product is extrememly difficult to use for analog video capture with a Sony hi8 camera.

Strengths: 1. Works as described and well on all points.2. Price is in a reasonable range, from ~$58 to ~$75.3. Compact and well-designed.4. Best deal is to buy Easy Media Creator 8 Deluxe, which includes
Weaknesses: 1. Overpriced in many outlets, but finding it well priced should not be difficult.2. Although on a good system it's not a must, the product should have a power adapter, or at least support for one.
Overall Evaluation: The people that have a hard-on for flaming a product that fails to perform for them, can't/won't accept the fact that they do not know enough about their own systems and proper configuration, or have up-to-date setups. Their failures are do to poorly equipped/assembled systems, low-output power supplies, registry tinkering and running all kinds of crap software utilities...unfortunately, these users are just itching for a chance to flame a product, company, or other users. There hasn't been even ONE of these flamers that have bothered trying to write an objective review; not even the slightest hint about their opsys, what hardware they have, utilities they run and system configuration. There's one last comment to add. This product is designed for USB 2.0 and is NOT backward compatible. There are hundreds of thousands of users that don't know the difference, nor do they know what their own systems support. This will be gradually realized as more and more USB 2.0 products are attempted to be run on USB 1.x systems...hubs are a problem, as there are a lot of them being sold NEW that are not marked as being USB 1.x only! This is a fact - if a USB product mentions nothing about supporting USB 2.0 specifically, it's ONLY for USB 1.x.

Strengths: Good capture quality. especially sound.IT does what it suppose to do.
Weaknesses: Crappy software. pcm sound does not work. All fuinction require seperate activation hassle....
Overall Evaluation: If you know what you are doing, it will give you what you want. Do not expect any magic out of this. It warn about possible frame drop under low cpu power. Under P4 2.4 HT, I never experience any drop even under heavy load. The software is worst I ever seen. Slow and over priced for all the other extra.

Strengths: For my purpose (see below), it doesn't have any.
Weaknesses: It doesn't work at all
Overall Evaluation: I bought Dazzle DVC90 for converting my VCR recordings to DVDs, but it can not capture any analog video at all. I decided to throw it away the first thing in the morning so I would forget the frustrations it caused me. Just before I started writing this review, I read a review originating in the UK on this product, saying it didn't work with virtually any VCR. I wish I had read this review before I ordered it.

Strengths: Looks neat, compact, has a pretty green light on it.
Weaknesses: Doesn't work, comes with software that doesn't recognize it, doesn't do what it's supposed to...
Overall Evaluation: I spent several hours last night trying to capture some analog video with this device. It would never show up on the monitor. The software that comes in the box doesn't support or recognize the hardware that comes with it. WHAT?!??!? This is the worst piece of computer equipment I've ever seen. EVER. I almost killed myself last night this thing made me so mad.
