Strengths: This thing is absolutely loaded!
Weaknesses: none
Overall Evaluation: This board supports almost every processor out there and can overclock it to the extreme. I would recommend this board to anyone looking for a new one. It's advanced technology will easily outlast the similarly priced competition.

Strengths: Excellent documentation
Weaknesses: none
Overall Evaluation: Excellent product with a great web site for awesome documentation and assistance. I probably could have purchased the OEM version and save more money, especially since the Intel site is so nicely documented with all the information listed in the included booklet. Matched up great with my Intel Core Duo E6850.

Strengths: Good Quality, Intel's 975 chip supports 8 SATA drives and numerous case fans.
Weaknesses: On Board audio refused to work, only had 2 PCI slots.
Overall Evaluation: Worked well but found out the hard way it didn't support 1333Mhz FSB (now have a E6750 processor to resell), My XP had problems properly detecting Com1 port. Audio DEFINATELY problematic as a google search showed numerous other users with the audio issues.

Strengths: Supports a large number of processors. Numerous heatsinks.
Weaknesses: Lack of onboard video, standoffs and bolts for installation.
Overall Evaluation: The board installed cleanly in a new ATX case, though the case only included 9 standoffs but the D975XBX2 called for 10 standoffs and screws. It would have been nice for the standoffs and screws to be provided with the board.Other than this, the board supports multiple USB devices including a 2-USB-input attachment to a card slot on the case. The board has two USB plugs, one for the attachment and one for USB on the front of the case. The USB attachment can be left off if you don't need that many USB inputs.I installed a Core2 Duo (E6700), attached two new hard drives (one IDE and one SATA), my old DVD-rom drive, 4 1-gig sticks of memory, and an 8800 GTS GPU. The new system booted without a single problem, and runs perfectly.I'm happy with this board and would recommend it.

Strengths: High stability, Matrix RAID 0+1, supports Viiv, includes Vista-32 drivers.
Weaknesses: On-board sound could be better.
Overall Evaluation: Built a quad-core system around this motherboard and so far it has been rock-stable, not a single crash, not a single SATA problem, not a single driver problem in (6) months, almost 24/7. Intel Storage Matrix allows a mixed RAID 0 (performance, a Windows partition) and RAID 1 (mirror, a critical data partition) on the same set of two or more hard drives. On-board sound could be better, I would like to have seen X-Fi. All in all, this is an excellent workstation-style motherboard.

Strengths: Very nice quality as usual. Well packaged, all accesories.Easy installation, Matrix RAID allows to stripe HDs to RAID0 under OS- unbelievable.
Weaknesses: Marwell SATA is purly designed, better to be disabled. BIOS crashed.
Overall Evaluation: Used OCZ OCZ2P800R22GK 2GB Kit DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum Revision. Vista showed lower performance rank. Found that BIOS found that memory as 5-5-5-15 instead 4-4-4-15. Changed to 4-4-4-15 --> system refused to boot. Error code "EB" ,reset, flashed BIOS in recovery mode - nothing helps. Intel tech claims that board only supports 1.8V-1.9V, OCZ has 1.9V-2.1V in specs. RMAed board back to vendor , going with Asus P5N32-E SLI nForce 680i.

Strengths: Matrix raid, support for quad core, solid state caps, overclocking capability
Weaknesses: Very poorly packed, single gigabit ethernet, high price
Overall Evaluation: Options for overclocking include MCH, fsb and memory voltage adjustments. Overclocking is limited to about 350MHZ and the board is not too stable. There are other boards that are cheaper and can perform better the BadAxe2. The board can perform day to day tasks but may not perform as well under high stress. I am a big fan of Raid so the Matrix raid is a big plus.

Strengths: 8 sata ports plus all sorts of accesories like the cables, extra usb card. A very user friendly user guide.
Weaknesses: none
Overall Evaluation: All of my previous boards were from ASUS but I was looking for a high end board to support my new intel duo core 2 processor with my 4 sata Hard drives that I have. this board has all the components I was looking for.

Strengths: Stability is by far just one of the strong points of the Intel 975XBX2 motherboard. Great drivers, outstanding Intel support, and a well-engineered product
Weaknesses: Only one wish; that is, I wish the 975 chip would support one additional PCI slot.
Overall Evaluation: I am still using the Intel 975XBX board that I installed over a year ago. To date, my computer has never crashed. Intel manufacturers the best quality boards that I've ever used; and the 975BX2 ranks

Strengths: Quality, accessories
Weaknesses: None
Overall Evaluation: After using Asus boards only for several years, decided to check up Intel. Very solid board has any type of manuals, drivers, accessories you need. SATA cables are top quality with metal lock. Included is Viiv technology, version 1.5. I am running Vista Ultimate (btw no problems with drivers, but still need to specify drivers for RAID. I am using flash drive for that - no floppy installed) and it requires Viiv 1.6, you can download it, but just update. So you would get a Catch 22: can't install 1.5, but need it to update to 1.6. Intel says you can obtain full version from your vendor. But, also, there is a workaround - download it from getaway support page, it works. Support page of Intel is great (Asus always slow and with problems). One can say a lot about this mobo. Very solid, dependable, highly suggest it. BTW There is onboard sound, even I do not use it.
