    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: I got mine for $8.99 by buying generic.Cheap? If you buy the wrong type of drive like a dumbass and forget to return it before your 30 days are up (like a dumbass) it'll save your investment.

Weaknesses: Very flimsy, just gently plugging in the power cord I bent all the pins.Weird setup, adds unnecessary case clutter. Can block airflow, hard to find a place to stick it.Not very good for externals.

Overall Evaluation: I used it for a DVD-+R, D-+RW, D-+ R DL, and D-RAM drive. So far I've burnt a DVD-R Data disc at 4.7 GB and verified it twice and a .cda audio CD for the stereo at work and they've been fine.It seems to work just as well as a SATA or EIDE drive would.

    Duration of ownership:10 Days

    Strengths: compatability, price

    Weaknesses: design, documentation

Overall Evaluation: Initial plan was to take SATA drive & use converter in a MADDOG case, did not fit Put unit on drive & installed drive in std PC. Unit keeps coming off drive ea time I tried to set up drive. Finally got it to stay on. Very loose. Need additional documentation on how to set up partition in OS when done. I work on systems & even I forgot that part...

    Duration of ownership:20 Days

Strengths: Easy to install, works as described

Weaknesses: Too loose connectors, rather bulky

Overall Evaluation: This adapter works great on my one-year-old Hitachi 80GB SATA Drive. After attaching this adapter on my HDD, I connected it to my three-year-old Dell desktop. Works as if it were an IDE drive. No problem so far. The easy installation is its advantage as well as disadvantage however. If you have a tight room for HDD, just like my Dell desktop, you cannot install it within the HDD housing because this adapter extends its length. For me, I had to place my HDD just on the bottom of the case. Also, the connections are too loose. If your case has enough room for HDD and is not so crowded with cables, cards, etc., then it's for you. If not, you'd better take a look at IDE to SATA M/B Adapter Bridge which is designed to be installed onto M/B's IDE connector directly.

    Duration of ownership:1

Strengths: Versatility, ease of use, and functionality

    Weaknesses: Size

Overall Evaluation: This is a great tool for all computer technicians who service any type of computers. The only downside to it is it's "card-like" form but nevertheless it is definitely a handy piece of equipment!

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: If it works, it'd be a fantasticly useful thing.

Weaknesses: As of right now, doesn't work.

Overall Evaluation: Having problems making it work. Tried it in two diffrent external bays and thus far no luck. Will try it in an internal slot next. It is rather frustrating that it didn't work right out of the box.

    Overall Rating: 4 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:2 Weeks

    Strengths: Ver simple to use.

Weaknesses: Could be made in slighly smaller form factor.

Overall Evaluation: This device is great. I had a SATA drive and wanted to use it in a USB 2.0 external case. I looked everywhere and could not find an external case for a SATA drive with USB or even firewire connectivity. They ere all for external SATA connections (haven't seen any computer with that yet). I had an external USB 2.0 cae for an EIDE drive so this device was just what I needed. I was able to use this converter to use the drive I had and the case made for an EIDE drive. It was a little tricky getting the converter and drive into the external case, but I did and it is working great.
