    Duration of ownership:1 Months

Strengths: Churns out audio/video encoding projects like it's going out of style, very affordable after recent price drops, quite overclockable

Weaknesses: Price dropped (stinks for me), not true quad-core (two dual-core dies, basically) so not as efficient as upcoming AMD quads

Overall Evaluation: This CPU is good money spent. It has turned previous 4-hour encode wait times to half an hour in some cases (over my previous OC'd AMD Athlon 64 3800+). I have been running it rock-stable at a 25% overclock, to 3.0 GHz, no problem. If you do a lot of video/audio editing or encoding, this is your chip. Now that the price has dropped significantly, get one now!

    Duration of ownership:15 Days

Strengths: 4 cores, very fast speed, overclockable

Weaknesses: OS and software not taking advantage of the 4 cores

Overall Evaluation: I have used and like the Quad Core Q6600. However, speedwise, it is almost the same performance as my E6600. In fact E6600 overclock more than Q6600. Also, there are not many softwares out there that can use all 4 cores. It is great to have and I am sure in the future all 4 cores will be used. Unfortunately, for now, it is a bit useless. CPU is pretty low power and overclockable with correct motherboard combination.

    Duration of ownership:30 Days

Strengths: Very Fast CPU and very overclockable

Weaknesses: Most software cannnot take advantage of all four cores

Overall Evaluation: I like the idea of having multiple cores. However, the software development is lagging behind as far as using all the cores. I recommend getting quad core in the near future when most of the software start to able to take advantage of it. Speedwise, it is great. Eventhough you will not see much speed improvement over Core 2 Duo Family right now, there is much to expect from this CPU.

    Duration of ownership:1 Weeks

Strengths: fast, easy to install and works with win XP home

Weaknesses: price - but this is the latest and greatest

Overall Evaluation: This thing is so fast it?s hard to measure. I will benchmark later. The nice thing is this is somewhat future proof. A year or two from now this will make a great file server CPU. Many games and applications already use multi cores so this quad core just makes it better. This is the best you can get right now. If your building your own PC, skip the dual core and go quad.

    Duration of ownership:2 Weeks

    Strengths: Speed

Weaknesses: A tad hotter under load then a Core 2 Duo but well worth the few extra degrees.

Overall Evaluation: Awesome speed for the price and heat this processor generates under full load. With a uni-processer program it is as cool as a Core 2 Duo. Multi-processor applications run like a dream.

    Strengths: Fast multi applications performance.

Weaknesses: Runs hot due to four cores.

Overall Evaluation: Brought this cpu at fry's for $299, Impressive performance with lots of applications Windows way more responsive than with dual core. Great single threaded performance too. Good overclock but runs hot when you do it.

    Duration of ownership:3 Days

    Strengths: Very quick processor

Weaknesses: Not all applications can take advantage of 4 cores

Overall Evaluation: This is one quick processor. People have often said that this processor wasn't quick, and that just isn't true. I believe that people thought it should be even faster since they paid so much money for it. Well, prices are dropping and the price that I paid for this was more than worth it. To be sure to make the most of this processor make sure applications are multi-threaded. Most graphics and video editing applications and most of the newer games would have no problem taking advantage of the extra cores on this thing. Hey, this thing even makes Vista run fast.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Greatly Increases performance on zipping files, video editing, and video compression

Weaknesses: Not much noticeable improvement over the e6600 for gaming

Overall Evaluation: Great Product and highly recommended. Must have if you use any Adobe software. The performance difference for the Quad over the Duo is not much noticeable while running windows and regular programs. Its when you run programs that take advantage of the 4 cores when u actually see the processor kick in.

    Strengths: Awesome performance for now

Weaknesses: not much multithread apps so far

Overall Evaluation: This is a great CPU - for the future. It performs on par with a E6600 on nowaday games and such, but it does not give you much right now for its price...A few months from now, there will be much more threaded apps available for its power...

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Performs very will in applications that are multi-threaded.

Weaknesses: Runs significantly hotter than Dual-Core CPUs

Overall Evaluation: Purchased this CPU in a motherboard combo from Fry's for a total price of $299.On an ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe motherboard I was able to obtain a 3.1GHz STABLE overclock (3.3GHz would boot, but was not stable). This is with a SL9UM stepping processor. In approximately 2 months, SLACR stepping chips should be out and preliminary results indicate they will overclock well.At the current price of ~$275, this CPU is a good buy for the performance you get.
