    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Runs very smooth, no matter what program(s) you are hitting it with, and does not seem to heat up on my motherboard even during heavy multi-tasking. Those four cores never max out.

Weaknesses: None that I have found

Overall Evaluation: I'm not sure why the Duo Core has made such a come-back. Maybe I need to read up on it more These days quad core seems to be going out of style, but I think it still kicks. It can take anything I throw at it, from a program with very heavy graphics, to several programs at once. It is the best I have had so far.

    Strengths: Very Very Fast.

Weaknesses: None that I have found.

Overall Evaluation: I put the core 2 quad on a gigabyte Motherboard and man is this thing fast. I'm running Vista X64 version of windows. I did put a different cooling fan on it and it runs at 25c at idle.8 gigs of ram also helps. Best CPU for the price. Can't beat it!!!!

Strengths: Low cost. Fast (relatively speaking).

Weaknesses: Early version of XP Home Edition will not install.

Overall Evaluation: Only difficulty was installing early version of Windows XP home. You need at least SP1 included with your initial installation. So far the CPU has not even broken a sweat. My son was playing Quake 4 while downloading Crysis and running Photoshop CS (screen captures). Haven't OC'd yet but considering it because my Chilltec cooler has maintained CPU temp lower than 87 f (30 celsius).Great purchase and looking forward to programs that take advantage of multiple cores.nVidia 8800 512 RAM2 GHZ 1066 RAM2 SATA 160 GB Drives Raid 1Intel 975 Extreme MB

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: Very fast

    Weaknesses: gets hot

Overall Evaluation: Runs very fast, but I've been some issues with the pc I've built. I put it on a GA-n650sli-ds4l motherboard and it's been crashing since then. I think that's a problem with either the cpu or the mobo because I've replaced all the other parts.

    Duration of ownership:1 Weeks

Strengths: Very fast (2.4ghz) with 4 cores

Weaknesses: Builds up quite a bit of heat

Overall Evaluation: I am running this with 2GB of ram and on a gigabyte p35-ds4 mobo. Running very fast and I can see a huge improvement when comparing this to my pentium 4.

    Duration of ownership:1 Months

    Strengths: Fast

    Weaknesses: Yorkfield

Overall Evaluation: As you probably already know, this processor overclocks very well, especially the G0 stepping (aka SLACR). I overclocked mine to 3.55 Ghz with air cooling. It's awesome! Well, maybe not as awesome as Yorkfield, but for well under $300, I can't really complain.

    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:1 Months

Strengths: Quad-core power!!! G0 stepping runs very cool. Cores remain stable even under load. Good performance for the price.

Weaknesses: G0 stepping not guaranteed from some retailers. Penryn CPUs may offer better value when released next month.

Overall Evaluation: There's not too much left to say about this processor. It's fast, stable, and a great value for the price. The only real caveat is that the new G0 stepping cannot be guaranteed from some online resellers.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: This cpu runs extremely cool when overclocked WITHOUT a "TWO POUNDER" cooler hanging on your cpu.

Weaknesses: None technically. Now we need new apps taking advantage of the four cpu power this chip has. We need a user selectable dedication of each cpu to a defined task.

Overall Evaluation: Running stock Intel cooler staying within adjustable limits and hiting 3600mhz operational stable speed. Cools at 37C idle, 51C max normal load, 61C stress load. Use a good cooling case like the Smilodon.

    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:2 Months

Strengths: 1) 4 cores 2) Price 3) G0 Steppings have somewhat less power consumption than their predecessors

Weaknesses: 1) Still expensive compared to other Intel offerings 2) Not everyone can use the 4 cores

Overall Evaluation: This is a wonderful processor for those who are looking for some serious power. Most games will take advantage of only 2 of the 4 cores, so the only places the quad core processor will give more are in OSs and apps written to take advantage of 4 cores. My main use for quad-core power is video encoding, which gets a great boost from the two extra cores. Future games and applications will definitely use more cores, so this should be a good investment. I recommend it!

    Duration of ownership:90 Days

    Strengths: price, performance

Weaknesses: not to many programs take advantage of the additional cores

Overall Evaluation: The Intel Quad 6600 processor is a great Intel CPU. The Q6600 is the best quad-core for under $300. The CPU is even better if you get the G0 stepping which run cooler, and overclock better. Unfortunately, there aren't many programs that really take advantage of all the cores on the chip. Overall, if you are looking for an excellent processor for the money I would buy this.
