Strengths: Best bang for buck as of right now (Apr-2008).

Weaknesses: Very large card. Requires 2 large connector power supply connections (like from CD drives and hard drives).

Overall Evaluation: I just installed this into my Dell Dimension 5150. Originally I had a Radeon X300 card PCIe card. When I opened my system, I looked at the new card and knew there'd be a problem. To get it to fit I had to remove the video card's retaining bracket (the piece that you screw the card to the case). I'm hoping the tension of the card's connector in the socket on my motherboard will be enough to hold it in place, but there's not much room for the card to move around anyway. The second thing I had to do was remove the plastic housing holding the CPU heatsink in place and break off about a third of it so the card could fit. I know that it would be a better idea to get a larger case but I am really cheap and wanted a couple quick upgrades (this card for $130 and a couple gb of ram for $50) so that I could play Oblivion, Mass Effect, and maybe a couple of other Xbox 360 ports instead of spending over twice as much for the system.Otherwise, the card runs great. I can run all the games I want according to yougamers.com (although I haven't installed any yet). The 4 stars instead of the 5 is for the gigantomousness of the card, although it appears that most cards in this class are behemothlike.

    Strengths: Lower priceOverclockablePowerful Performance

    Weaknesses: NA

Overall Evaluation: It is really a solid card I have ever used. Its performance is so powerful that it can play any game I want to run, even without overclocking. In addition, its own fan is enough to dispel the heat under normal working status. Maybe you need to add another fun, if it keeps working at harsh condition. Last, the price keep decreasing, so that I cannot help buying this card.

    Duration of ownership:3 Days

Strengths: Excellent performance for an acceptable price, 320 bit memory interface. Double slot cooling removes the hot air from inside the case.

Weaknesses: 320MB of video memory is a bit on the low side for modern games. Nvidia's driver does not allow for an easy overclock like it used to a few years back.

Overall Evaluation: It took me less than 15 minutes to install the card and download the latest driver. The card successfuly ran benchmarks and I was able to play right away without any problems at all. Although the 640MB version might be a better choice if you can find one for a similar price.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: EASY TO SET UP, GREAT PRICE TO QUALITY RATIO, LOTS OF POWER, AMAZING GRAPHICS

Weaknesses: THE THING IS HUGE, I HAD TROUBLE MAKING ROOM FOR IT, AND OVER HEATS TOO FAST.

Overall Evaluation: GOT THIS VIDEO CARD TO PLAY GAMES WHILE WORKING, AND WATCHING MOVIES ON MY DUAL SCREEN. WORKS PERFECTLY, NO MORE CHOPPYNESS, AND NO MORE SLOW DOWNS. BUT AGAIN IT OVER HEATS SO I HAD TO INSTALL ADDITIONAL FANS.

    Duration of ownership:3 Weeks

Strengths: Fast, quiet, great performance for the buck.

Weaknesses: It's a little long fitting in my Antec 900, so the extra power cable and wiring around the rear is tight.

Overall Evaluation: So far I've maxed settings at 1024x768 on Battlefield 2 and the recent Bioshock demo and this thing can fly. I don't follow PC games as much as I could, but I'm sure this card is somewhat future proof for a least a year. Games like Crysis are going to mush this thing up, but that isn't the fault of the card itself. Oh! It's also Vista ready with Directx 10. In about a month I'll be pushing this card a little harder with a different monitor. I'll also be using to render graphically heavy material, as well as edit sound/video. From what I've read from various PC sites, the 8800 GTS 320 mb base unit (no overclock) is friendly to overclocking. Good card. Some of you may want to wait until it drops under $250. By then, it will be definitely worth every dollar and will blast any card within that price range out of the water. :)

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Powerful, very tweakable and overclockable, great deal

Weaknesses: The slightly more expensive SuperClocked version (not this one) is already overclocked by eVGA, complete with warranty coverage.

Overall Evaluation: This is a great card for the price. I upgraded from an overclocked 6800GT and this one simply wipes the floor with the 6800GT. I've been able to overclock the GPU and memory pretty high without destabilizing it. It chews up and spits out (technically speaking) any game I've thrown at it. Great job, nVidia, and great deal, eVGA!

Strengths: Low PriceStandard Nvidia chip designDrivers easily availableQuiet Fan

    Weaknesses: None

Overall Evaluation: I just upgraded and the change is really dramatic as I usually wait a few generations between changes. The EVGA 8800 GTS installed without problems in my Antec P182 case and Asus P5k Deluxe MB, no fit problems at all. A fresh Vista install caused no problems, drivers are loaded and at the first Vista update online the Nvidia drivers are downloaded and installed. I did select them alone under custom install and then rebooted before installing the rest of the updates. I run dual dvi Dell monitors and keep one portrait and one landscape for every day use, setup up fine.Speed of the card just rocks as framerates are up in all the games played and HD video play jitter free as well. The 320 Mb suits my needs just fine, loads up the full Vista Aero package as well.No shortcomings to speak up yet and I am happy.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Performance, recent (June '07) price drops make it attractive, overclocking potential.

Weaknesses: Two-slot design, sometime wish there was a bit more video memory onboard.

Overall Evaluation: I own a number of EVGA's 8800-series cards and have been absolutely please with all of them, and now that prices are coming down that formula is still holding up.It is very similar to the 640MB version ofthe 8800GTS, with of course only half the video ram (which makes it unable to run 8xAA at 1920x1200 or 16x at 1280x720 resolution, both of which the 640MB version of the card can do). However, the relative discount for this card makes it feel like a better performer for the dollar than the more prices 640MB version. This may be coincidence or in the nature of the card's having 1/2 the memory, but it seems like the 320MB version of the card runs its memory at consistently lower temperatures than the 640MB version (for the same clock speeds), but starts artifacting and causing other problems at lower clock speeds and termperatures, effectively giving it a little less overclocking overhead (although in my experience the 8800-series cards tend to have lots of overhead and reasonable at-load temperatures, especially for the level of power these cards consume). The 320MB 8800GTS is, in my book, probably one of the best video cards for the dollar that's ever been commercially available for the just-shy-of-hardcore Pc gamer (and of course technology advances will soon outdate this assessment). But with after-rebate prices coming down to sub-$250 levels at the time of this writing, it's a heck of a PC gaming card -- perfect for even high-end gaming at 720p resolution with 12xAA).
