    Overall Rating: 2 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:1 Months

Strengths: High quality audio, especially if you have a receiver that accepts 5.1 inputs, can add/remove discs WHILE playing

Weaknesses: 5.1 super audio output capability does NOT work if you use the digital audio output, NO POWER ON/OFF ON REMOTE CONTROL!!!!

Overall Evaluation: I thought I could deal with the no power on/off on the remote control, but unfortunately I cannot. I was hoping my other controller could be programmed to take care of this problem, but it cannot.I would definately NOT recommend that you purchase this CD player UNLESS you can deal with the fact that you have to press the button on the unit itself everytime you wish to turn the CD player on or off.Other that this, it's great quality and I really like the ability to add/remove discs WHILE the CD player is playing! That's a big plus!

Strengths: sound quality is very good, product was easy to install and compatible with existing Sony audio rack system, plays all common CD formats

    Weaknesses: none

Overall Evaluation: This was a Christmas present to replace Sony 5 disc CD changer from an older Sony rack system. This CD changer was compatible with the old system and easy to install. The sound quality is much better than the previous unit. This changer is easy to program and use and the remote is also easy to use. I recommend this CD changer to anyone shopping for a moderately inexpensive product of very good quality.

    Duration of ownership:1 Weeks

Strengths: Amazing sound even though we are only using left and right home audio speakers.

    Weaknesses: None yet!

Overall Evaluation: Got this to replace my parents' old cd player that is part of a 15-20 year old audio component system. I was a bit dissapointed I couldn't plug in the Form S in order to use the main system remote to control the cd player (since that was discontinued god only knows how long ago), I still loved the small remote that came with it and it has been wonderful, just gotta learn the ins and outs and get used to it and BAM EASY AS PIE! LOVE SONY AUDIO!

    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Superb high-resolution surround sound. 5-disc changer. Huge bang-for-the-buck.

Weaknesses: Not a universal player - plays SACDs, but not DVD-As.

Overall Evaluation: I was looking to replace my aging Sony CDP-C7ES (17 years old!) primarily to get a CD changer that shuffle-plays discs properly - the C7ES inexplicably didn't delete tracks from rotation after they were played. Having a well-tuned 7.1 surround system, I thought I might play with multichannel music (beyond the few concert DVDs I have), so I looked for a universal player. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a changer that did it all well. So, I focused on multi-disc random play - if I really want DVD-A capability, I'll make sure my next DVD player has it. So, even though I listed the lack of DVD capability as a weakness, it's really a very minor consideration, especially for the price of this unit! This player has the shuffle function I want, along with stellar SACD performance. I already own a small number SACD hybrid discs, along with the previous CD releases - yes, I'm a pack-rat - so I was able to compare them. One example: Steely Dan's Gaucho. Dan's penchant for clean sound is legendary, so this was a good place to start. The original CD from MCA is a typical red book compact disc - not bad, although it sounded better on the new player - no surprise, considering the improvements in D/A converters over the last 17 years! Next up, the remastered RBCD, which was distinctly better. Then, the SACD's stereo SA layer - the DSD provided a substantial jump in presence and detail, like listening to virgin vinyl - sweet and smooth, nothing 'digital' about it. However, the surround mix was just amazing - the 3D sound stage gave more room to each instrument (and voice), revealing nuance and detail that made me think I was in the recording studio during the take! I'm sold! Sure, most of us don't make the time to listen critically to music, but this thing will definitely have me spending more time on the couch. For the price, I can't believe how good this thing sounds!
