Strengths: excellent contrast ratio, 1080p resolution, wide variety of input connections, aesthetically pleasing design
Weaknesses: built in speakers are somewhat disappointing
Overall Evaluation: I've been searching for the right LCD TV to replace my 30" tube HDTV for several months now. Up until recently, the price/performance ratio just hadn't been right. However, a certain online-only megastore ran a promotion on this model that was just too hard to pass up, so I jumped on the deal. I couldn't be more happy with my decision. I've been extremely happy with other products by this manufacturer in the past, and this is no exception. The 1080p resolution is simply stunning, and the 10000:1 contrast ratio brings a depth to the image that is matched by only a handful of other similar displays. There's a variety of input connections on this display, including 3 HDMI ports, HD and SD component inputs, s-video inputs, composite inputs, and RF inputs. Plus, this model has a built in ATSC/QAM tuner, so you can receive digital broadcasts with an antenna (or unencrypted cable) without a separate receiver. The design of the display is also pleasing, fitting in well with any type of decor. The only negative of this TV is the included set of built in speakers. The are positioned on the bottom of the set, providing for a sometimes awkward sound projection. However, I will not let that dampen my overall satisfaction with this model, as if you're going to spend the money on a TV of this caliber, I also feel you should invest in a surround sound speaker system. I highly recommend this product!

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Amazing picture even on "air channels", much improved over my 3 year old Panasonic and HD is just incredible.
Weaknesses: Captioning when you go to "Mute" has to be a separate operation. Not automatic. Instructions are difficult when trying to hook-up DirecTV. Took many trials and call to Samsung....which didn't help
Overall Evaluation: Now I'm not a technofile, but I am a big TV watcher and this set is so much an improvement over others I watched prior to this purchase. Like another said, I watch programs I don't normally watch just because the HD is so good. Setting up was easy except for what was mentioned in the Weaknesses portion above. So many options, so much fun.

Strengths: Excellent picture, lots of plugs for outside devices, swivel base, great price.
Weaknesses: None that I know of.
Overall Evaluation: Once I hooked it up to the HD cable box. TV changed in my house forever. Great picture. I have a Samsung HD DVD player, Apple computer screen, HD cable box, digital camera, and digital camcorder connected to the TV. All work great. Found some HDMI cables online for an excellent price and they work great also. I was going to buy a Sony but after comparing the specs the Samsung beat it hands down. My next TV will be a Samsung.

Overall Evaluation: A GREAT TV for the dollar. Samsung has designed and produced a fine TV. The picture quality is excellent with analog and High definition signal. Sound quality is good to excellent. It has a wide angle of picture side vision. It is a very compant design for a TV of this size. Instructions are excellent with simple set-up.

Strengths: Bright, colorful, sharp picture; Tons of connectivity; Unintrusive design; excellent video processing; not-too expensive.
Weaknesses: On-board speakers leave a little room for improvement, totally useable but nothing to brag about
Overall Evaluation: I've been shopping for a wide screen HDTV for about 4 YEARS at this point. To my eyes, just about every model on the market before 2006 had serious image problems related to the technology of the day. I won't bore you with all the technical shortfalls of projection tv's (LCD or DLP), plasma, or earlier LCD direct view, but I've tried them all and returned them all. The new Samsung model has finally crossed a threshold and entered the realm of acceptability. The image is bright enough to use in a room that has a full wall of palladium windows during the day and is easily dialed-down for less brightness when the sun goes down. Color and contrast are both excellent as well and the set has enough adjust ability to allow it to be adjusted for a neutral (calibrated) image or tweaked for personal preference without killing the image. The full 1080x1920 pixel count is a must have feature for me. Yes, I know that most cable / satellite feeds are only low-def 480i and don't take advantage of the full capability of the panel, BUT this does eliminate the screen-door effect (the effect where you can see the individual pixels and the lines separating them). This has been the biggest turn off for me with all of the plasma sets out there even the highly rated Pioneer (not the new 1080 unit). With the 1080x1920 this set has, the image looks solid and has no screen-door issues. Take a look at the specs if you have unusual connectivity plans, but this set has all of the connector options for just about everyone. The latest HDMI 1.3 for all the cutting edge stuff to be released right down to to simple RF-coax for antique VCr?s (and of course everything in between (component, s-video, comp-video, vga/dvi/hdmi computer input, usb) Yea, so what about the image? Its excellent! I receive both off-the-air network channels and standard Time-Warner cable. High def (either 720p or 1080i) look amazing on this set. The NASCAR race FOX broadcast yesterday was so sharp it was just like being there. Regular low-def channels are also very good. To me this is also a key feature since most of what I watch is standard cable 480i. I would say the standard def looks just as good on this new set as it does on my old trusty 31" Mitsubishi tube. This is a feature that most of last years models could not get quite rite. Yes the image is now bigger so the imperfections are more obvious, but at the 40" size its not an issue at normal viewing distance. So, yes standard TV looks fine. I connected a USB card reader and viewed some digital photos; wow, amazing detail. I have not connected a PC yet but based on the USB-photos, this set should really make at outstanding monitor. I don't know what video processor is being used, but it is excellent. I have not seen any macro-blocking of any sort on fast action or anywhere else either. I think the NASCAR race was proof that this set can handle fast motion without the artifacts that previous model have suffered from. The 4061 has the matte-screen and gives a lower contrast ratio than the smooth-glossy screen of the 4065. If you have a dark room with no windows the 4065 may be the way to go. But for just about everyone else who has windows, lights, and any reflection issues the 4061 is a better choice. Even so the contrast ration on the 4061 is very good. It produces a nice black not a mucky grey as previous models did. Some discussion on the AVS forums has indicated some units have "flashlight" and "cloud" effects. I'm pretty picky and I will say my set either has none of these effects or the AVS folks have gone off the deep-end looking for flaws. The only somewhat less than top-notch feature is the sound quality. Don't misunderstand, its very good and compares to any average TV speaker sound. But don't expect full, rich, dynamic audio with strong bass. For that you will need to add a sound package. A lot of the time I just don't feel like turning on all the audio equipment just to watch normal TV; the built in audio is more than adequate for that. I haven't even begun to tweak this set or add the other video inputs ...... Its a keeper.

Strengths: The built, the image quality, 3 HDMI, VGA
Weaknesses: SOUND!!!
Overall Evaluation: I bought the TV from Best Buy with a warranty. I selected this TV because, first I was looking for something to fit in our living room and 40" was a good size. Next it is a good looking TV and third, my dad wanted an LCD because usually they don't have a glare problem. Moving onto things that are more important. I can only comment on the image quality using standard cable, S-video source (my laptop), a VCR and DVD player (normal--not upconvert). The standard cable TV does not look so bad for it being standard. Yes, there is noise but it is standard cable on HDTV, so for that it is okay. Next, I watch LOTR Return of the King on a normal DVD player (not an upconvert), I was disappointed, but that is because of the DVD player, not the TV. The image looked good at a distance of six or seven feet--get a little closer (3 ft) and you see noise. I connected my laptop to it using a s-video cable. I was a bit disappointed because the image quality was not that great--the icon letters were a bit blurry and when I played a few videos, it was not distorted, but the actual height of the image was short, but the width was that of the TV and there was noise. Out of all the sources, VCR seemed the worst--the picture was slightly blurry. I know it sounds bad that the image quality seems bad but when I saw some HD stuff in the store, the TV looked gr8 and I feel that after I get a HD source, the TV will look great. You have to notice that everything I connected to the TV was standard (cable, VCR and DVD) except for the laptop, but I am yet to try hooking it up using a VGA a cable. When I do that and get HD source, I will update this review. Sound...I am a little disappointed, the sound in my opinion sucks because my standard TV can give me better sound except for when it is turned up all the way. The sound with this Samsung gets distorted even when it is at a normal volume. I was watched LOTR and there was "krrrkrrrrkrrrr" sound--I guess it was too much for the speakers of the TV. If you have a sound system you should not have to worry about the sound quality. Connections: 3 HDMI, VGA, S-Video, 2 coaxial (one antenna, one cable), few audio outs ( i haven't messed with that), A/V Composite and RCA composite. Overall it is exciting to have this LCD TV.UPDATE:Finally got HD broadcast. The picture quality is awesome--very crisp. The blacks are...well...BLACKS! May need to adjust setting to optimize viewing pleasure. I watched Planet Earth on Discovery HD and I was amazed, but I was even more amazed by this other channel Equator (its a travel channel), it was beautiful. I was watching one show about Rome and I felt like I was there. I was convinced of the reality I got up from my seat to touch the statue. Truly amazing picture quality. As for the sound--not too happy with that. It sounds fine when people are talking and during some other parts, but during certain parts (American Idol, soundtrack of the movie when the movie is playing, etc.) the sound is bad (my standard TV sounds better). This shouldn't be a problem if you have a sound system. It maybe all the TVs that have a bad sound, or it just may be that I may have a lemon (i dunno) I will have to check with Best Buy. Picture: Excellent 10/10Audio: Not happy 3/10Components: Awesome 9/10 (does not have video out, but has USB! you can listen to music and look at pictures--very cool feature--do slideshows with music...)I got a pretty decent deal: it normally sells for just above $2200, but there was 10% discount, so it came to just above $2000, then on their website they had a free upconver DVD player with any HDTV, but they did not have the DVD player so they substracted about $85 bucks. The final price came to about ~$1988 (with tax and that is pretty competitive for a retailer). I also bought the service plan b/c I have had a good experience with the plan previously (I had a bad laptop, and when I had to go to BB 4 times to get the laptop fixed, they gave me the credit to buy another laptop--of course this happened over the course of 3 years and so the technology had changed, so I got a much better laptop(not that you care))
