Strengths: The ridiculous surprises !!! (not a strength period)
Weaknesses: The surprises. First, if you have Norton SystemWorks installed, you have to use an online removal tool to remove it before 360 can be installed (nice, huh ?). Oh, that's not the end, you also find out, if you still use it, you have to REMOVE Symantec's WinFax !!! Have you ever struggled to uninstall and reinstall WinFax under the best of circumstances ? If you happen to have Office Pro and Business Contact Manager installed to augment Outlook, look out. Something in the removal tool or 360 installation decouples the association of the office products AND gives you a wonderful, cryptive memory error everytime you boot thereafter. Imagine, Symantec couldn't figure a way to install this app, without removing their own two apps; SystemWorks & WinFax, then the removal spoils the relationship of Outlook & Business Contact Manager and leaves you with a boot memory address error. What could be more fun ?
Overall Evaluation: Are you kidding would be my evaluation. I had to do a complete clean install on the machine. Everytime I see this "piece" of "software" on the shelves or reviewed, I get sick to my stomach. I let Symantec know. Do you think that they cared ? I believe that they care less and less about the average user as time passes. In fact, as my SystemWorks subscription was coming up for renewal, I downloaded a free virus software appl from PC Tools. I was having a problem with creating emergency disk sets for Partition Magic. Well, after all those Virus Scans with SystemWorks, it was PC Tools' Antivirus program that found the following virus buried in my machine: "adware.bmcentral.a" and removed it. So much for my renewal. So much for Symantec, and I am a long, long time user. From their Delrina acquisitions, to the oldest Norton Utilities, you name it. Not any more. Enough is enough. Deep six this one, if you don't want to face this experience, potentially.

Strengths: Simple user interface
Weaknesses: Live Update chews up 100% of CPU time, stopping other work (1.73 GHz Pentium M, 2 G RAM). I lost about 8 hours work while tech support were remote controlling my computer in an attempt to fix it. Also backup does not back up OS and applications.
Overall Evaluation: This is a step backwards from previous Norton products. I used to use Norton Ghost with more success. Tech support has just reinstalled Live UPdate. If it stops my computer again I'm going to return the product.

Overall Evaluation: I would recommend this product for XP and Vista users with atleast 2GB of RAM, otherwise your system will be slowed.

Weaknesses: Difficult interface and very slow performance. I have had to disable it to get programs to load, somethin that I did not have to do in the past. The limited online storage is not a benifit to me.
Overall Evaluation: I have been a long time user of the Norton security products. I was very pleased with the Internet Security products. I am very sorry that I upgraded to 360 on the last 2 machine renewals (I have 7 PC/Laptops in my home). I would NOT reccomend this product for either XP or Vista.

Strengths: Easy to install. Inbound and outbound Firewall protection. Rootkit Detection. Web site authentication. Protection for up to 3 PCs and more...
Weaknesses: Slow in overall functionality. Only works with Windows XP with Service Pack 2 Home/ XP Pro/ XP Media Center Edition and Vista as far as I know.
Overall Evaluation: You need to meet "System Requirements" for Norton 360 to function properly or expect trouble in my opinion. Some of the minimum requirements are as follows: 300 MHz processor or higher, 256 MB of RAM minimum, 300 MB of available hard disk space. I myself am running Vista Home Premium with a 3.20GHz processor, 3 GB of RAM, 250 GB hard drive with 187 GB of free space on one of my computers. I have used Norton Products for over 60 months on my computer(s) and never experienced any negative situations.

Strengths: None that I could see.
Weaknesses: slowed system substantially and increased prgram access times.
Overall Evaluation: Seems that Norton products are going downhill. I have not bee that satisfied with the last product I purchased from Symantec which was System Works 2005. The Norton Utilities did not work that well, especially Disk Doctor and SPeed disk which took close to 24 hours to defrag a 250G hard drive and left it 88%. I now use Diskeeper which is much faster and when I turn Norton 360 off I have seen decreased access times for prgrams and games. Diskeeper also fixed a couple of games that were running poorly. So the name Norton does not mean what it used to.

Strengths: Nothing
Weaknesses: every single thing
Overall Evaluation: I'm a user of Symantec products for years now. It never occurred to me that they would make such a flop. The software is really bad, I mean really really bad. It kills your CPU making the computer useless. its configuration is not user friendly. You cannot make it run on a system with more than one user unless all of them have administrative rights. It causes errors when you shutdown. it .. it it .. shall I continue..? The one thing I respect Symantec for is that their support team admits that the software got problems, and they say that they are fixing it.. I hope..

Strengths: Superb Protection from Viruses/Spyware/Trojans/Adware/Phising/Hacker Infection(s). Real-time Protection and seemless intergration with Internet Browsing. Clean Sleek user friendly interface.
Weaknesses: PC needs a abundance of resources. No Registry Repair Tools. Disk Optimization tool not as comprehensive as Windows Defragmentator. Customer support very mediocre. Live Update quite slow.
Overall Evaluation: People who always say Norton products slows there computer down to a crawl or causes computer errors already have a computer half limping with bad configuration. If you go by the Minimum or even Recommended requirments given by a software product prepare to be dissapointed. They base the requirments on stability of the programs procceses rather then the actual timing of them (becuase it varies on a million things with your computer). Make sure your computer exceeds the recomended requirements! That being said. 360 is incredibly user freindly, works seemlessly in the backround with very minimal distraction(s). The protection itself could not be any better. The cleanup tool is better then many standalone cleaning utilities. It Erases Internet History/Cache/CookiesTemporary files/etc as well as cleans up installation files and so forth. However the Disk Optimization tool is not as advanced as Windows Defragmentator. All tools in 360 can be scheduled! Live Update and Customer support is slow. A registry repair tool could be a great asset. Overal 90% for 360.

Strengths: Virus Protection and thats about it
Weaknesses: Everything
Overall Evaluation: I can honestly say this is one of the worst mistakes Ive ever made since I purchased my desktop last year. I purchased my copy of Norton's 360 on Amazon.com for a great price even after reading other reviews from other disgruntled buyers but decided to go ahead with the purchase anyways after reading reviews from others which stated that they were completely happy with it and they had no trouble with the install or how it worked after instillation because they completely removed all traces of any old Norton software that was previously installed on their computers. So I followed their and Norton's instructions and removed all the old software using Norton's free removal program which I downloaded from their web site. Now 1 month after I installed Norton's 360 I have been plagued by Screen Freezes and Crashes along with programs not opening, calls to Norton are useless and I'm out $79.00 because I cant return it. To Make a long story short, Stay away from Norton's 360 if you enjoy a smooth running computer.

Strengths: 24/7 tech support
Weaknesses: Norton policy of paid support for manual virus removal.
Overall Evaluation: Nothing but problems !! My computer recently was infected by Trojan Vundo and Norton 360 could not remove it automatically. When I contacted Norton they told me that I would have to pay $ 99.95 for them to help me manually remove the virus and this was only good for 60 days I think, After 60 days I would have to pay again. Well, I did find another virus protection company that would help me remove the virus manually if their software did not remove it. When I contacted Norton and told them that I needed to completely remove their program in preparation for the new programs installation they told me to run their removal tool on their web page and said it would completely remove their program. Wrong !! Again I had to call Norton and finally got through to someone that helped me remove their program manually. Come on Norton, I spent hundreds of dollars on your software subscriptions only to be treated this way.

Weaknesses: blocks so much good software it's ridiculous, incompatibilies, slows down everything a LOT
Overall Evaluation: if only norton would have kept the bad things it has been doing for years... no they added some I think. Above the rest of the problems I think there are two: false positives and incompatibility with many programs. The funny thing is that it's also almost impossible to remove (even with the appropriate tool, you'll keep a piece of it somewhere it seems)

Strengths: Automatic back ups to my external hard drive saved me dearly. I have none but I have an 250 internal and 500 gig external HD with a high end MB, 4 gigs RAM and above average processor so it doesn't bother me like some of the other reviewers.
Weaknesses: None and I purchased in October 2007
Overall Evaluation: My suggestion, especially if you claim to be making a living with computers, is you should have better than a 80 gig hard drive and 512 ram. Come on you can't run anything these days with only 512 RAM. That review should be wiped off the system. Norton 360 can be set up to run automatic back ups. Thank goodness I did this because a couple of months after the installation of 360 I had a power surge that caused an unrepairable bug to my internal HD. I could not get the computer to boot and neither could my geek who owns a successful computer repair business. We had to install the os from scratch and I thought I lost everything. Unknowingly and to my great satisfaction the Norton 360 software backed up all of my critical and not so critical data to the external hd. We have installed on all of our business computers and have external HD's to save the back ups. Please understand that you may still lose all your valuables if you don't have an external drive.

Strengths: Very user friendly. Have not experienced any adverse effects on PC performance - it does slow down a bit when running LiveUpdate, but that is it.
Weaknesses: After installing it on a Vista based PC, had to reinstall it twice. Was it Vista
Overall Evaluation: Had it on an XP PC before the latter died (5 yo, heavily used laptop) - worked great, did not slow down PC (Unlike McAfee total protection which I uninstalled after a months use). After switching to Vista, had to reinstall it twice in the first month - whether due to Vista, or Norton, I have no clue. However, ever since (4 months) it has been running smoothly.
