Strengths: Easy to use. Great features, such as, the ability to edit ringtones and photos to use on your phone.
Weaknesses: Using Win 98, I had trouble installing the program. After installation, using the phone as a modem doesn't work.
Overall Evaluation: This progam seems to work good for everything but using your phone as a modem. After installation, I found that the computer is still trying to dial out using com3 instead of the USB port. Installation instruction could be a lot better too. I bought the program to mainly be used to download photos to my laptop computer from my phone and this works great. It's very easy to do. Other features, such as uploading ringtones and uploading photos to be used as wallpaper on your phone work great too. There are many other features of this program that make it well worth the price.

Strengths: Good for transferring numbers between phones and backup. Multiple modes of communication with your phone.
Weaknesses: Only good for Motorola phones. Routine maintenance your most likely to do on the phone.
Overall Evaluation: Product good for limited purposes. DataPilot more expensive but more versatile. Not a phone Maven, but can't see using this on a frequent basis to make it worth the price. A fair price would be $9.95 for the cable and Motorola should include the software for free for what you get.

Strengths: Simple to install. Product is stable.
Weaknesses: GUI Interface is a bit clumsy and it sucks up a chunk of system resources.
Overall Evaluation: I am so very glad there was a data cable and software suite for this phone. It has almost gotten to the point where I sync it more than my PDA. I really really love the ability to save my text messages both recieved and sent.

Strengths: GOOD PRODUCT, EASY TO USE AND PRICED RIGHT
Weaknesses: MY CELL PHONE PROVIDER (REVOL WIRELESS, OHIO) DOES NOT SUPPORT INTERNET AND EMAIL FUNCTIONS AND PRODUCT INFO DID NOT LIST THEM AS A SERVICE PROVIDER
Overall Evaluation: I LIKE THE PRODUCT VERY MUCH AND WOULD RECOMENT IT TO ANYONE EVEN IF YOUR CELL PHONE PROVIDER DOES NOT SUPPORT ALL THE FUNCTIONS. IT IS A GREAT WAY TO PROGRAM YOUR PHONE AND DOWNLOAD SPECIAL RINGSTYLES. MY WIFE AND I EACH HAVE A MOTOROLA V266 AND USE THIS PRODUCT TO SYNCRONIZE AND PROGRAM OUR PHONES. WE ALSO ENJOY THE BACKUP FEATURE. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO MY CELL PROVIDER OPENNING UP THE INTERENET FUNCTIONS. I USED THE VERSION 4 UPDATE DISC WHICH CAME WITH MY PRODUCT. GOOD VALUE FOR THE PRICE

Strengths: Will work to hack your phone if your provider doesn't let you transfer media.
Weaknesses: Sometimes has a poor connection with the phone.
Overall Evaluation: I bought this for my Motorola E815 phone, just needed the cable. This phone wasn't listed as being compatible but I had used one in the past so I got it. Used it to hack my phone so I could transfer rigntones I made via bluetooth, which my provider doesn't let me do.Great price ($20 cheaper than the store), and received it on time without any problems.

Strengths: Take any MP3 and make it into a ringtone; upload/download pictures
Weaknesses: Takes a while to download all of the updates to make it Version 3.0
Overall Evaluation: It has a built in MP3 editior that lets you take any part of a song and make it into a ringtone. Also, keeps you from having to use airtime to send pictures since you can just upload them to your PC. Only downside is that it took about 30 minutes to download and install all of the patches to upgrade to 3.0, but it was free. If you are using dial-up, I would recommend spending the extra money and buying 3.0 instead.

Strengths: usb connectivity, turns your phone into a pda
Weaknesses: too expensive at retail price
Overall Evaluation: The kit is simply a usb sync cable -- just like any sync cable for a pda. It comes with a CD that has the software needed for sync. So, if you would like to use your phone like a pda or you would like to download/upload fancy stuff, the cable is a must. However, the list price of the kit is too high. I got it for a little over $10. And I still don't think it's a good price. It's just fair, I would say.

Strengths: Great for syncing contacts/calendar/photos/music between phone and pc.Bluetooth support with newer versions (updates available online for free download).
Weaknesses: slow; does not sync recurring entries in calendar well.
Overall Evaluation: The software and included cable are great for backing up, as well as syncing on a continual basis, contacts, photos, music, and calendar between a motorola phone (v710 in my case) and windows machine. The updates for the software are available online, where the newer models get added as well as feature sets get updated (my phone was not supported in the original v2.0, but worked like a charm after the online update). The newer version of the software supports syncing over Bluetooth as well! The software is not perfect. Syncing with Outlooks 2003 is patchy. This is especially true with calendar, where recurring entries are synced sometimes with error but more often not at all. Hopefully one of upcoming updates will address this issue. The software is also slow--takes a long time to load as well as to exit! In spite of the above shortcomings, I still highly recommend this software for backing-up contacts and transfering photos and music.

Strengths: the data cable works ok, cheap
Weaknesses: buggy software, hard to set up under Windows XP
Overall Evaluation: I bought this to use with my Motorola V300 and computer running Windows XP SP2. The USB cable works just fine and connects easily. Unfortunately, the software that comes along with it is very buggy. Installation was hit or miss, and I had to sift through several forums and even download third party drivers to get my computer to correctly identify my cell phone. The software in the CD that came with the product was of no help at all. Once the drivers for the phone were installed, the Mobile phone tools software was finally able to interface with my phone. I then discovered that I only had version 2.0 of the software, with the latest version being 3.xx. I did a liveupdate through the software, but to my dismay, it stopped working again after the update. Now I've uninstalled everything, and will try to reinstall the phone drivers and the mobile phone tools software (the old version), just to get things to work again. software installation is definitely very buggy. but works ok once you get things set up correctly.

Strengths: Can succesfully be used to manage phone numbers on Motorola V710 cell phone. Offers automated features for synchronizing phone numbers and calendar with MS Outlook.
Weaknesses: Automated synchronizing features tend to lock-up computer. Interface somewhat clumsy and manual doen't help much when software doesn't work.
Overall Evaluation: I don't know whether its a problem with the cell phone or the software, but they don't work that well together. Some further testing would seem to be in order at Motorola.
