    Duration of ownership:6 Months

Strengths: lots of features, fast text, easy setup and easy use

Weaknesses: Awful photo print quality since day 1. Stripes across the entire page of every print. HP has sent two replacement printers and five replacement ink cartridges, but none of them has solved the problem. I've asked for asked them to take back the printer, ink and paper, all of which were purchased directly from HP, and give me a refund, and they've refused.

Overall Evaluation: OK unit if you don't care abuot photo print quality. Awful service and support. HP used to be an amazing company, but no more.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: quality printing easy to use

    Weaknesses: none so far

Overall Evaluation: Bought this for my daughter for college. Does quite a lot for the money. bought as a package deal with macbook laptop. only set back would be that it is big and bulky. A plus for the unit is that you do Not need a computer to operate it. Works with camera or sd cards.I would purchase it again especially for the price savings.

    Duration of ownership:6 Months

Strengths: lots of features, easy to set up, easy to use, fast text printing

Weaknesses: slow copying, slow photo printing, awful photo print quality

Overall Evaluation: I bought this printer primarily for high-quality photo prints, but I haven't gotten a single one out of it. Every single print it produces has stripes across the sheet. HP has sent two replacement printers and five replacement ink cartridges, but none of them have solved the problem. I've asked them to simply take back the printer, ink and photo paper, all of which were purchased directly from HP, and refund my money, and they're fused.

    Duration of ownership:3 Weeks

Strengths: Compact design and looks elegant.

Weaknesses: Toner doesn't last long and they're expensive! No parallel port and no feeder.

Overall Evaluation: This is a nice little printer that can do three tasks, print, scan, and copy. If you're looking for a personal all-in-one printer and you don't need to print much I'd recommend this machine. There is a built-in LCD screen that will allow you to see pictures when you have a memory card connected to the printers memory card reader, which is a nice feature.

    Updated:12-03-07

    Duration of ownership:20 Days

    Strengths: pop-up video screen

    Weaknesses: very weak disc printing

Overall Evaluation: As a printer/scanner it seems to function just fine, despite a little bit of a feathery/blurry print quality on normal paper. The software for printing to CD's and DVD's limits the user to just a handful or very tacky templates that you are required to use (unlike almost all other direct-to-CD printer softwares which allow you to layout your print job as you wish). You are prevented from deleting parts of the templates, meaning you are stuck with their horrible designs for your disc. For quite a bit more money, you can upgrade to another version of the software, but save your money as it's not much better. You'll still be stuck with awful templates and clip art from an arcane version of Windows. Universal CD print softwares don't seem to work with this printer, so if you plan to print to CD's or DVD's, avoid this printer. I hope they fix this problem on their future models, as this printer was almost worth the money.

    Duration of ownership:6 Days

Strengths: Ability to print on CD/DVD media, low life cycle cost, quiet operation

    Weaknesses: No ethernet connectivity

Overall Evaluation: I recently upgraded to Windows Vista, and my scanner does not have an available driver for Vista. I decided it would be nice to have an all-in-one device as that would reduce the clutter in the den. My old printer is an Epson 880 -- like most Epsons it tends to get clogged print heads with the resulting high cost for ink. The HP C5280 offers two sizes of cartridges, one for lower use (such as my case) and a larger size for heavier use. This printer is one of the few that include a tray and software to let one print directly on CD's and DVD's. No messy labels to deal with -- just stick the item in the print tray. The scanner works great -- even comes with decent OCR software (this is the first scanner I have bought that has OCR software that really works). It has a small display to help with menus when you want to use it as a copier.I bought it for $99.99 from Circuit City which is a really great price for a device with all these features. I think the price has been raised now, but it is still a great value in my opinion.
