Overall Rating: 5 Star Review
Duration of ownership:1 Years
Strengths: Great base and overall sound. Easy to hook up. HDMI inputs and pass through.
Weaknesses: Subwoofer is always on. Fixed this shortcoming with a $10 remote from hardware store.
Overall Evaluation: Inputs I am using : PS3, hdmi/digital cable box & stereo RC jacks from tv (from antenna). Output: HDMI to LCD 1080p TV. Easy hook up, wires big enough & sounds great. The bass is clear and loud. Treble is strong. Unit discriminates input through remote to TV. PS3 sounds outstanding with a regular dvd and great with a blu-ray dvd. Great price. I've had this unit for a year now with no problems. I recommend this unit to anyone.

Overall Rating: 4 Star Review
Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Great sound quality and flexibility in an efficient package.
Weaknesses: HDMI is only pass-through; built-in control capabilities of other Sony components is only so-so.
Overall Evaluation: Sony's system, complete with speakers, offers a great experience for home theater lovers. The HDMI pass-through/switching leaves a little to be desired, but at least the addition of this receiver will add a few more HDMI inputs to the TV for most users. I am particularly pleased that Sony has included a "B speakers" section, which is useful for connecting a stereo pair of conventional speakers, for those times when you'd like to listen to a stereo source (CD, iPod, vinyl) and not have to utilize the included surround speakers.

Overall Rating: 3 Star Review
Duration of ownership:7 Days
Strengths: 2 HDMI inputs with active intelligence that send video and sound, 3 component inputs, self-calibration
Weaknesses: Speaker wiring is very cheap, remote is bulky and does not have codes for many brands, hard to understand manual.
Overall Evaluation: This is my first home theater system so I can't compare the sound quality which I'm satisfied with. I have it set up with my cable box and PS2. It recognizes digital audio as it's supposed to. Some notes though, the sub is powered and always stays on. It would be a good idea for it to turn on when it receives signals and turn off when it doesn't. Also, composite inputs can't go out though HDMI output; they only output through composite output. If you can get past the weaknesses that I mentioned than this system would work fine for you.
