Duration of ownership:2 Weeks
Strengths: Design, menu settings, bluetooth, wireless internet connectivity, extra USB Ports, Blu Ray
Weaknesses: Load times, short USB cable, No HDMI
Overall Evaluation: With the exception of load times for some games, and a strangely short USB Cable, the PS3 is the console to go. Better than the 40GB model for all the extra features and the fact that it is backwards compatible. It has no where near the failure rate of the Xbox. The Price is almost right on in comparison to the Xbox 360 Elite which costs $450.00 and doesn't come with, wireless ethernet, a game or Blu Ray player. The Xbox only has 3 USB ports, but one of them is in back. It seems like alot of money (and it is), but people should look at the overall picture. Even better, the games library is finally picking up and the game producers are making the PS3 the lead console in development.

Strengths: The PS3 system was easy to set up and easy to play. Having a wireless game controller is amazingly great. The kids and pets aren't tripping over the game as with other systems.
Weaknesses: The Motorsport game is hard to enjoy thouroughly on my 26 inch screen non HD TV. It is difficult to read the race info and hints at the start of each track, because of color contrast on the screen.
Overall Evaluation: Overall, this is a great system with all the possibilities of online gaming without using my PC. My husband loves the off roading of Motorsport. Wireless game controls are the way to go.

Strengths: 80GB Hard Disk, PS2 games compatible, Motorstorm game included, Bluray tecnology, stylist and great design, wireless control, & good price compare with 60 & 40GB -double capacity with PS3 game include
Weaknesses: Not included HDMI cable & extra wireless controller, price high compare with other systems.
Overall Evaluation: With the 80GB PS3 can play PS2 games - new 40GB PS3 version doesn't play PS2 games. At the same time with Bluray technology movies has a great resolution in my lcd tv. All in one - play games, movies, and view digital photos using SD card. I'm satisfied 95% with this system, 5% unsatisfied because of the price.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Lots of features, Bluray, wireless controller, backward compatible, internet access
Weaknesses: Cost, expensive games, no Hdmi cable
Overall Evaluation: I bought this mainly as a Blu ray player. Compared to other players, it's a good value. It is quite a bit more compared to other next gen consoles though. The games look awesome with a HD tv. I wish I could figure out a way to use this with a universal remote instead of using the controller. I like the interface and it's easy to use. The online access seems cumbersome though. It will upconvert standard def dvd's too. I'm a little worried about the price drops lately and different models be discontinued, but I jumped anyway.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Blu-ray player, Good graphics, Upconverted DVD's/Games
Weaknesses: No HDMI cable, expensive, no remote, slow load time
Overall Evaluation: I bought the PS3 more as a Blu-ray player rather than a video game console. Putting it into that perspective, the PS3 is good system, although there are some small inadequacies. The first thing is, an HDMI cable is a must for this system. Sony packaged the console with a lousy component cable which won't achieve resolutions above 480i. This means that it doesn't provide better than my $30 DVD player on my full 1080p LCD TV. But once I switched the input to the Monster Ultra 1000 HDMI cable, the graphics improved. This is true for both movies and games, for both upconverted PS2 games (in this case, Final Fantasy X) as well as Motorstorm that came in the package. As far as movie playing goes, I played two standard DVD's (Ice Age, Shrek 2) in both my cheap player as well as the PS3. There is a noticeable graphics difference. The colors and the graphics are a bit sharper. It's not as large an improvement as I'd hoped, but it's definitely noticeable. When playing Blu-ray discs however, is where the PS3 really stands out. The picture quality is definitely top notch. I was hoping that I can get away with normal DVD's instead of upgrading and spending a lot of money on Blu-rays, but now I suppose I have to.Another thing that is probably a worthwhile investsment if using the PS3 as a DVD player is a remote. Althought the SIXAXIS controller can serve the function, they really aren't meant to do any more than playing games. I understand that Sony came up with a remote for the PS3, but having read the reviews online, I understand that there are some user-friendliness issues with it. I think I will hold off on it until they come up with a better one.A minor annoyance with the PS3 is the slow load time, both for movies and games. For example, it takes up to a minute to load Motorstorm. Not a big deal right? In the middle of the game, when you are chosing cars, it takes another 40-50 seconds for the car graphics to show up. Loading the race after selecting cars takes another minute and half or so. But I suppose with improved graphics quality, that is unavoidable.Overall, I am happy with the purchase.

Strengths: saved me alot of time, great product, good price
Weaknesses: none
Overall Evaluation: I was very pleased with your sight. Only three days later I received my playstation 3 from circuit city, and after paying a very good price. Your sight also saved me alot of time. It was very nice not having to go site to site comparing prices. The playstation itself although I havn't had it very long has been great. The graphics are amazing, and it even plays blue ray dvds. I believe this product to be a very good investment.

Strengths: You can play both Blu-Ray HD DVD movies and Blu-Ray HD DVD games without having to pay for two units separately.
Weaknesses: None!
Overall Evaluation: We have never experienced such clarity and detail from a game or even a movie until we got this console. The menus couldn't be any easier and connection using an HDMI cable was a breeze. We love it even more on every passing day.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Good graphics, blu-ray, wireless controller, and backwards compatibility with PS2/PS1 games.
Weaknesses: Expensive, collects dust and fingerprints easily, and no HDMI cable is included.
Overall Evaluation: The PS3 has a lot more features then last-gen gaming consoles. This console is more of a media center, as it can play DVDs, play Blu-ray movies, view photos from your camera's SD/miniSD, PRO, or CF memory card, listen to music, and you can play games. I am satisfied with my purchase so far, although it would have been nice if it was a little bit cheaper, but it can do a lot more than the other consoles.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: High def output is amazing. Bluray support. Still has software support for PS2 games.
Weaknesses: Game selection at this point. Must buy HDMI cable to maximize it's performance. No rumble in included controller.
Overall Evaluation: This game system is truly the next generation system. It's high def support is the perfect match for my new HDTV. The graphics from the games have been amazing. The graphics from Bluray discs are also amazing - depends on the movie. The upscaling capability with the new firmware for standard def DVD movies works more than adequately. It seems like everything looks good coming out of it. Of course you need to run everything through HDMI to maximize it's performance. You can buy a cheap HDMI cable from Monoprice and it will work beautifully. Of course, aethetically the system looks high tech. It does generate a lot of heat so make sure you give it good air flow. I don't have alot of games so far but Motorstorm and Heavenly Sword look stunning. The PS2 games I've tried have also worked. Can't wait till the new controller with rumble comes out. Also, I hope there will be a much bigger selection of good PS3 games soon or else it will not be able to compete with the other systems in the future.
