    Overall Rating: 4 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Does help when trying to match onscreen appearance to printed photo output

Weaknesses: May make you unhappy with the appearance of the screen when running non-photographic applications

Overall Evaluation: The Huey made quick work of calibrating my LCD monitor. Afterwards the screen was noticeably darker, which actually did improve the fidelity when printing, but I found I missed the brighter, more contrasty settings when playing games or even doing word processing. Unless you are printing constantly and/or professionally, this is the sort of product you may use once, and then wonder when you'll ever use it again. Helps to have printer-specific color profiles loaded in Photoshop also.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Easy and thorough adjustment, auto-adjustment results are generally excellent.

Weaknesses: Needing to suction-cup it onto your monitor (which is probably an expensive one if you use this!)

Overall Evaluation: Although I'm not a professional in any sort of video field, I do a bit of photo an dvideo editing, and have monitors set up in rooms where ambient light conditions can change. I finally brole down and bought this when it was on sale a month or so back, and I am very happy I did.Color calibration is easy, and the results are consistently excellent. This is true even for very different monitor types: for example, it does an admirable job on a Dell 2407FPW (a relatively high-contrast, low-brightness monitor) and a HannsG HG281D (which is the opposite end of the spectrum: contrast is very sub-par but brightness is quite good). Now, the HannsG monitor has known issues with brightness consistency on its screen, and the huey can only "examine" a small portion of the center of the monitor, so there's a real limitation as to how well the huey can correct that monitor (but that's the fauilt of the monitor, NOT the huey). And even with that known monitor's issues, the huey's effects will still reduce the HannsG's apparent problems noticably, which to me is impressive (and makes a large but "cheap" monitor much easier on the eyes than it could be without it).Anybody who spends a lot of time in front of a monitor -- especailly if you're doing visual editing on it or you're in an environment where ambient light changes considerably -- would do well to have the hueyPRO as a component in the computer they're in front of all the time.

    Duration of ownership:1 Days

Strengths: Simple set up, works fine, calibration process is pretty quick.

Weaknesses: The usb cord that's attached to the calibrator is quite thin (1/16") and I worry I might break it off by accident if it caught on something when I moved the calibrator.

Overall Evaluation: Though I wasn't able during the set up to make the calibration targets to match, the defaults seem to work fine. I'm using an old Sony Multiscan 400PS CRT and and even older Epson Stylus Color 900 (not "Photo"). I made some prints on Canon Matte Photo Paper using the Epson Photorealistic Inkjet Paper setting (that's a matte paper like the Canon) and the prints were very close to the screen image. The slight differences in contrast and saturation I assume have to do with me printing on matte paper which produces a "flatter" print than glossy paper. I haven't tried glossy yet, I like matte. The uncalibrated monitor image looked much different than the prints I had made, so the Huey really helped (no more fiddling with printer settings to get the print to look like the image on my monitor). Oh no! Now I don't have any excuses for my prints. Will

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Easy to use right out of boxWizard helps set up monitor and then runs software calibrationAmbient light adjustment

Weaknesses: Must attach to monitor with suction cups and still does not make tight light sealAmbient light adjustment sometimes surprises me by changing screen contrast.

Overall Evaluation: I've only used this for a few days, but I am enjoying the results. The setup program is straightforward enough. Once installed, I ran the program (without first adjusting or cleaning my LCD monitor). The results were a definite improvement. I then properly cleaned the screen and followed the step by step instructions for first adjusting my monitor, and then ran the wizard again. The results were excellent. I had some trouble understanding what gamma and color temperature were best (both easily adjustable in "preferences." However, after reading the on-line documentation (a pdf file), I saw that they recommended 6500K and a gamma of 2.2 for photo editing. I next read how to activate the calibration settings (ICC profiles) in Adobe Photoshop. My print outs were at first a bit warmer than I got on screen, but I found a site on the web for adjusting my Canon MP530 drivers to utilize profiles http://www.steves-digicams.com/techcorner/June_2005.html. The prints now pretty closely match what I'm seeing on-screen. My intent was to get a close match between screen and print, and this is now accomplished. I am happy with the Pantone HueyPro, and it was worth the investment.

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: Quick/simpleImproved photo realism

Weaknesses: Gray level setting is manual

Overall Evaluation: This is my first experience with this type of product, and I'm happy with the results. I prefer a "true" color setup on my monitor so that I'm seeing photos/colors on my monitor the way I expect, and this worked very quickly and gave me what seems like a much more accurate color setup than what I had by using the old eyeballing method.

Strengths: Inexpensive, easy to use, Ambient light correction

    Weaknesses: Calibrates your monitors only

Overall Evaluation: I am a long-time film photographer who has recently started shooting digital. I spent many frustrated months trying to get colors to reproduce correctly until I used this product. Setup was easy and within 30 minutes my monitors were all calibrated. The proof was in the pudding as my final prints have improved greatly. Highly recommend this product to anyone who uses a computer for photo editing.

Strengths: * SUUUUPER easy to set up * Small footprint * Multiple display compatible * Dummy proof

Weaknesses: * Only includes two damp cleaning cloths * Suction cups * Have to keep program running in tray for to keep the color correction

Overall Evaluation: This is a fantastic little device. I've been waiting for a while to get one, but they are pretty expensive. Read not-so-precious reviews on the Spyder Pro so didn't want to drop over $100 on it. From opening the box to have the screen calibrated was just about 10 minutes. The actual calibration of the screen only takes about 30 seconds (per screen), but on first use you have to clean the screens, install the software and read the directions. I anticipate that future calibrations will be completed in under 1 minute for both of my displays. The software is ridiculously easy. It even displays a picture of the device on screen so you can put the actual device right over top of it. After a few flashes of black, white, and some other colors on the screen you are done. While I don't prefer putting something on my screen that has suction cups at least the device designer's were too dumb and made it a few small ones. This allows for better suction and tends not to leave a mark. The biggest weakness of the device is it requires that the software run in the background (in tray) to keep the corrected colors. If you close it, it reverts back to what you had (not recommended). Two things to note: 1) Make sure you don't click the box that says "Adjust for ambient light" unless you are going to keep the device permanently plugged into your computer. 2) When you are at the last tab of the calibration, check to see what your old display looked like before the color correction - it helps to reinforce your purchase. If it's anything like mine, the colors were SIGNIFICANTLY different. OVERALL: A+ RECOMMENDED FOR: Web designers, print design, videographers & anyone else that would like to see stuff on your computer the way it was meant to be seen TOTAL PRICE: $80.24 - $1.60 (bonus cash program from Chase ) - $.80 (1% cashback from Chase CC) - $5.00 (Pricegrabber) + $.41 (stamp) = $73.25 (divided by two cause I split the cost with my brother)

Strengths: Easy to use, small and lightweight. Monitors the change in ambient light in the room and calibrates the monitor accordingly.

    Weaknesses: none

Overall Evaluation: This is a great tool for photographers, graphic designers, and even gamers. The simple tutorial allows you to calibrate your monitor to your desired usage. There are different drop downs for the different kinds of uses (gamers, graphics, view photos). It calibrates in minutes to the ambient light. You can also turn off or on the monitor change in room light if you want.

Strengths: * very simple GUI* works on multiple computers and multiple monitors* active ambient light monitor seems to work well

Weaknesses: * mechanical "suction cups" could mar LCD screen or stick pixels* yet another tethered device to make room for on your desk

Overall Evaluation: i have heard the difference between huey and huey pro is that with the pro, you get dual(multiple) monitor support and also manual ability to adjust gama, contrast etc instead of using a select number of presets. the device works as advertised with a very simple GUI. in my case, i noticed that i previously calibrated my monitors with too much contrast and on the dark side. after huey was done, i could see much more tonal range. and, the color match to my digital prints are much closer. i'd buy this again definitely.

Strengths: Dual Monitors. Simple operation. Effective Results

    Weaknesses: Could be too simple?

Overall Evaluation: This worked like a charm. I upgraded from the standard Huey to the Pro since it does dual Monitors. It's as easy as dragging the screen to the other monitor and calibrating. Even though they're two different brands, they look the same now. Very happy. If you edit photos in any way, you should have one of these. Very useful.
