Strengths: HD looks amazing on this set. Plenty of inputs. Menu is easy to use. USB upgrade port.

    Weaknesses: None.

Overall Evaluation: This TV is a great set. You can not go wrong. This is my third HD LCD and I am very happy with it. The complaints about the sound are being a bit picky. It really depends on what you are listening to. Try the blue ray "Planet Earth" sounds and looks incredible even with tv only speakers. If I want true surround sound I have my 5.1 stereo. I would buy another in a heart beat!

Strengths: Every thing fine except audio

    Weaknesses: Sound breaks up

Overall Evaluation: Purchased Dec. '07 After set-up I noticed that the sound on 2 of the digital over-the-air channels I receive was breaking up to the point where I could'nt watch them. The signal strength was good,so I contacted Sharp. After 2 service calls they sent a replacement set. It was the same model and did the same thing. I contacted Sharp again and they ended up sending me an older model 92u which has been working fine. Its not the one I wanted. So if you're going to use an antenna, DON'T buy this model!

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Sleek narrow frame, lightweight relative to other large screens, large viewing area

    Weaknesses: Lackluster audio

Overall Evaluation: I was hesitant to order my LCD online and endure a potential shipping disaster (California) but I couldn't resist the great prices found on Pricegrabber. After much research, I chose the Sharp Aquos LC52D64U for 2 key reasons: Its fast response time (4ms) which translates to less pixelation-blur when viewing sports, my primary focus, and its big viewable display with minimal frame/border. It's also lightweight relative to other LCDs making for an easy mount with less worry. In 2 months of using everyday, I haven't had any banding issues noted in other reviews. The color and pix quality has been fantastic. I have HDTV so regular/non-HD channel quality is noticeable especially given the large screen. I couldn't be happier this TV.

    Duration of ownership:1 Months

Strengths: Excellent picture quality. Very light and thin. Good value.

Weaknesses: Minor banding visible, but not serious. Audio quality acceptable, but not great.

Overall Evaluation: I looked at many HD TVs for months before I chose this model. I preferred the LCD picture quality over the Plasmas. I narrowed down my choice to Sharp, Sony and Samsung LCD models based on picture quality. I decided that the hi-end Sony's had the best picture by a very small margin, but they were significantly more expensive than the Sharp. Unless the two models were side by side with the same source material, I couldn't tell the difference. The picture quality on the Sharp is amazing with a good high definition input, it almost looks 3 dimensional. There have been a lot of complaints about banding problems with the Sharps(light and dark bands on the screen). Supposedly it varies from TV to TV. Mine has some very minor banding, but you have to really look hard to see it. Most people would never notice it unless it was pointed out to them. The speaker quality is not great, but I use a home entertainment system for audio when watching movies. In summary, this Sharp has great picture quality at a very reasonable price for a 52" LCD HDTV.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Narrow bezel, thin, decent contrast, well hidden speakers, decent array of inputs, great image quality with high def sources

Weaknesses: Standard def image poor with factory settings (but can be improved), awkward diagonal channel/volume controls on remote, "favorites" buttons already worn off

Overall Evaluation: Overall I am very satisfied with this TV. The factory settings can be greatly improved with tweaks that can be found on AVS forum. The speakers are adequate sounding for casual TV viewing. I did have a couple adjacent stuck pixels that Sharp is working to resolve (join Aquos advantage for free, you will be blown away by their customer service). The weaknesses listed are very minor issues - just thought I'd list them for completeness. I highly recommend this set.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Thin, lighter weight, ease of set up, sharp picture

Weaknesses: No PIP is not a problem for me, but may bother some buyers

Overall Evaluation: The newest Sharp 52" lcd is significantly thinner and lighter than most lcds this size and much smaller plasmas. The makes mounting the tv a more manageable task and its appearance is better because it is much flusher with the wall. The picture quality on HD channel appeared very good and I have not noticed any banding yet. The manual is relatively straight forward and the set is easy to use. The set can be purchased from buydig.com, one of the highest rated online sellers for $2195. Their service and delivery are excellent. Overall, for the first few days of use, I would say this is an excellent buy.

Strengths: Super cool design - Looks very stylishGreat looking BlacksVery Slim - small footprint

    Weaknesses: Banding :( Booo

Overall Evaluation: I bought this TV through Sharp F&F deal that ran a couple of months ago. As soon as I received the TV I put in the calibration disc that you can download from tvblink.com and tested it for banding/clouding and other artefacts. My tv displayed severe banding. Sharp customer service has been very helpful (probably the best customer service out there). THey asked me to take some pictures of the issue and email it to them. A week later I got a confirmation that the TV would be replaced.Couple of weeks later when my replacement TV showed up, it had the same banding issue that my first one displayed ! I contacted sharp again and after 2-3 weeks, they agreed to refund the whole amount and I was able to exchange the TV.For those of you who don't know what banding is, check youtube.com (search term: Sharp banding)The TV is really good except for banding. Till such a time sharp doesn't fix the banding issue I don't think sharp will get back to being #1.Finally went ahead and got myself a Sony 52XBR4 (cost me twice as much, but well worth every $ you spend). My advice, if you are constrained on budget, take a look at this TV but buy it from a retailer who has flexible return policy.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: 1. Extremely slim design2. Quick setup. Learning local digital channels was a breeze3. Great 720i/p, 1080i local broadcast pictures4. plenty of i/p, o/p ports

Weaknesses: 1. outside frame could have been more stylish/less glossy2. too many "view mode" options - dot by dot, stretch, super stretch, wide, zoom, normal & no onscreen help3. Too long to start on poweron

Overall Evaluation: Picked up this unit on the 2007 black Friday deal at CC when I didn't get the 46" unit. So far things have been going so good that I decided to keep the unit and am about to get it mounted on the wall. Setting up was a breeze - learning channels from air (via existing room top antenna), connections to component/RCA inputs from Rcvr, and other A/V devices/identifying sources. Built in speaker is ok, could have had more Watts. Video quality is extremely good. As mentioned earlier, takes too long to turn on display at power-on and flipping channels seems slow. I don't see any of the banding claims as mentioned in various other reviews of the sharp products - I have seen 5 HD movies in the last 2 weeks & various broadcast (via air) and cable channels. Remote could have been done better with a menu choice for selecting channels - Fav channels is a little difficult to use VESA compliant, so the mounting brackets I picked up from telehook seems to do the trick for wall mounting. Unit is about 80 lbs and waiting for another pair of hands to put it on the wall

Strengths: Excellent Desing, Deep Black Color, 3 HDMI and 2 Component, Vivid Color and Brightness

Weaknesses: Some banding but NOT very visible, Remote Design

Overall Evaluation: Overall this is a very good LCD TV. The picture is awesome with HD materials. Do need to make some adjustment on the video setting at first because the default setting is not so good. The deep blacks and rich colors, and the variable input is the besthing about this LCD TV. Sound speaker is okay. There is some banding but very hard to notice and much much improvement from the previous model. The remote could have been design much better; preferably without the flip cover.
