    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:1 Weeks

Strengths: Plays cutting edge audio, 3 hdmi inputs, excellent value for the money.

Weaknesses: Possibly not enough power for some applications.

Overall Evaluation: I just upgraded to Blu-Ray and soon discovered that I couldn't play the latest & greatest audio with my former amp. In fact, with Ice Age Meltdown I could not get multichannel in English with my setup. There are many players out there that can handle the cutting edge sound but most cost hundreds more than this model. If you have a huge room and require more power, then you might want to look elsewhere. However, this one works great for me. I used the included mic to perform the Auto Calibration of my speakers. I then had to go into manual setup for speakers and tweak the settings so I could hear the dialogue via the center speaker. I also increased the level for the surround speakers. The GUI interface is great. However, I couldn't figure out how to exit GUI mode until I visited the Sony website. The manual didn't mention that you have to press Shift/Menu to get back to menu mode so that the buttons on the front of the amp can be utilized. Sony gives you the option of various sound "enhancements" but I prefer the A.F.D. mode that allows you to hear the sound that was recorded. This unit gets me to where I need to be until the next technology renders it obsolete, hopefully not for 10 years or so.
