Strengths: Very lightweight. Screen is small, but not too small.
Weaknesses: The back scraches easily so get a case for it.
Overall Evaluation: I had a 2nd Generation Nano that I lost, so I got this to replace it. I have had it for about two months and have loved it. It is very compact and the screen is the right size to watch a personal movie. I would highly recomend it to runners because it is very lightweight and you can get a arm-band so you can listen to it while you run.

Duration of ownership:2 Months
Strengths: Battery life improvements, decent navigation, quick response, good sound quality
Weaknesses: Pricey, does not come with wall charger, no belt clip
Overall Evaluation: The small form factor of this ipod is both good and bad. I'm a tall guy, so it's sometimes awkward using the scroll wheel. I could find no major problems yet with the basic operation of this 3rd gen Nano, although I've had issues with my older ipod (mainly battery and crashing issues) so I'm hoping this one holds up. Battery life on this thing is much better than my older ipod. Audio and video quality are acceptable for me on an ipod this size. I did not like the lack of a belt clip, although I never owned a Nano so perhaps they never had belt clips. I think the Ipod mini had them, and I guess you can buy a hard case with a clip if you want one. I wish ipods still came with a wall a/c adapter charger. My old ipod came with it and they are a great help so you don't have to charge your ipod with your PC. These things are expensive as well when you buy the Apple brand a/c adapter separately.

Strengths: Looks better then the previous Nano and has a bigger screen.
Weaknesses: The menu is somewhat hard to get use to.
Overall Evaluation: This 3rd generation iPod Nano is small and sleek. It has the same solid feel as previous iPods but refined into a sleeker smaller design. The 8GB of space is pretty great too! The only quark I have with the iPod Nano is that the font is very small and could be a little bigger, easier to read. A nice added feature if you get the iPod from Apple is you can have them engrave whatever you want on the backside of your iPod, a nice personal touch. And I also recommend getting the Apple Care extended warranty.

Weaknesses: The case marks easily!
Overall Evaluation: This is my first ipod! I like how compact it is and how I can take it with me wherever I go. I love the video feature and how clear the picture is. It is a great product for the price. I would purchase it again.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Slim, UI, battery life, can play photos & videos
Weaknesses: Back is shiny chrome (scratches easily), small scrollwheel
Overall Evaluation: This is my 2nd iPod. My first iPod was a 4gb 1st generation iPod mini in 2004. I only have about 6gb worth of music - so the nano was a great choice for me. I also go to the gym 3-4 times a week and I always bring my nano along. The battery life is very good (claimed to be around 23 hours). I did also transfer some photos and videos on the new iPod nano and they do look pretty nice. In the tech specs, the Nano has the highest PPI out of the new iPods (including the touch and iPhone), this makes the photos and videos look nice & crispy on the screen. Although, the screen is a little too small to watch videos and now I don't really bother with the trouble of converting stuff to videos. I mainly use this to listen to music while I'm at the gym and in my car.Great iPod and I'd recommend it to all that is looking for something small/slim with this range of storage capacity (4gb - 8gb).

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Huge screen, increased memory capacity, new navigation system, small size, video playback
Weaknesses: Metal back
Overall Evaluation: This is a nice update of the iPod nano line overall. The screen, navigation, and memory upgrades are the most noteworthy. However, it is too bad that Apple went back to the metal back style that is a fingerprint magnet. This is the only downgrade from the previous generation. Otherwise, a quality Apple product that will keep you happy.
