    Overall Rating: 1 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:1 Months

Strengths: Sounds like it would be really cool if my bank used it.

Weaknesses: My bank uses old versions of Quicken. I assumed that since I was getting a new version that old versions would have no trouble downloading my bank information into it. It's useless.

Overall Evaluation: I either have to transfer all my business to a different bank that uses up to date Quicken or enter all my banking manually. The whole point was to use the auto update feature. I can manually enter my banking into a spreadsheet.

    Duration of ownership:30 Days

Strengths: Ease of use. Way it uses transaction "flags" to identify business transactions made from personal checking & credit card accounts. I have always liked the way the Quicken registers look just like a paper checkbook register.

Weaknesses: I haven't found any yet.

Overall Evaluation: I've used Quicken since the late 1980's when Intuit had less than 20 employees. I haven't found any software that's better. I recently upgraded to Home & Business from Deluxe 2004, partly because Intuit quit supporting 2004 versions and partly because my wife recently started a home-based business. So far Home & Business does everything I expected it to do and more. I track self-directed IRAs, stock transactions and other retirement accounts as well as the business transactions.I think Home & Business will work great for our relatively simple business with no inventory or employees. For a more complex business with lots of assets (equipment, vehicles), employees, inventory and lines of credit, etc. Quickbooks would probably be a better choice.

    Duration of ownership:1 Days

    Strengths: Easy

    Weaknesses: Not much

Overall Evaluation: Quicken is a great tool to get your business off on the right foot. The software does what it needs to do without much of an effort on your part.

    Duration of ownership:10 Years

Strengths: easy to learn and use.

Weaknesses: lack some flexibility in file placing.

Overall Evaluation: Excellent product. 8th or 9th yearly version I have used in the last 10 years. Continues to help my finances run smoothly. Works well with my bank and credit card accounts. Really helps at tax time.

    Overall Rating: 4 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:1 Months

Strengths: Great for a small business owner who needs simple invoicing. Better reports available.

Weaknesses: Don't like the NEW tag system as register is now too cluttered.

Overall Evaluation: Forced to upgrade to this 2008 program in order to receive updates. Have not found any of the new features to be needed. "New" features not worth the price unless you are forced to upgrade.

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: Easy to use

    Weaknesses: no protection

Overall Evaluation: It will be good if there is one more layer of security for the software. So if I loss my computer, nobody can get into all the private file! However it's a good start for beginners.

    Overall Rating: 3 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: It still tracks my money, just like the earlier versions.

Weaknesses: Does not actually download PayPal transactions, like it says it does. No noticeable functionality improvements over the previous editions.

Overall Evaluation: I'm not extremely impressed with Intuit's latest edition of Quicken Home & Business. I was expecting the software to work with my banks (including PayPal) better, but it doesn't. I seem to get all sorts of download errors telling me that something is wrong with the Quicken server, and when I google the problem, no one else knows how to fix it, although they are all suffering from the same problems. I suppose Quicken still tracks my money fine, and I'll probably keep buying the new version whenever the old one "expires," as long as the basic functionality continues to work.

    Duration of ownership:5 Days

Strengths: Can juggle home and business funds together.

Weaknesses: Takes some time to learn to setup and use all of the features.

Overall Evaluation: It's a great convenience to be able to import online bank and investment data, but having that feature expire unless you upgrade frequently just doesn't set well with me. You may well not need an upgrade for any other reason.

Weaknesses: TO SEPERATE BUSINESS FROM PERSONAL YOU MUST CATAGORISE WITH A 1099

    Overall Rating: 2 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: Much Improved Interface.

Weaknesses: The online services will expire in few years. The product has recurring expenses. You will be forced to purchase the new version (full product). Quicken does not sell upgrades for existing customers.

Overall Evaluation: This is a good product. The only sore point in this entire range of products is that quicken tricks you to buy a new version every 3 years. They dont even sell an upgrade. So you have to invest in the entire product. In this case, the product costs $100 (available cheaper at pricegrabber). So imagine, you have to purchase a new box after 2 or 3 years. Quicken almost blackmails the users by warning that if you dont upgrade, then the online services will be taken off. If you get used to the product (like me) then you are forced to buy. Unfortunately, I did not have time to research other products. So if you want to avoid recurring expenses, stay away from Quicken.
