Duration of ownership:1 Months
Strengths: no
Weaknesses: hang up the system
Overall Evaluation: The software cannot kill all viruses as expected, roughly 50% of dangerous viruses. This new version still hangs up the computer upon installation. My computer was slowed down quite significantly. However, this version is included with spyware removal, which is a little bit nicer than 2007 version.

Strengths: - it works, does include Anti-spyware.
Weaknesses: - major resource hog!!
Overall Evaluation: Though years ago Norton used to be one of the best (maybe the best) in security software, but in the past couple of years it has become very poor, in my opinion. It totally slows down your computer. On another site for last years version (which is just about the same), there are over 200 reviews, and over 90% of those people gave it a bad rap. That tells you something! My advice: don't get it.

Strengths: Catches a lot of malware, easy to install.
Weaknesses: Bloated ware, slow.
Overall Evaluation: Norton Antivirus 2008 is the newest edition of the plethora of software products from Norton designed to protect your PC from viruses. Does it really do the job and more?Well, it does but like previous versions since 2003, it's extremely slow and clogs up the PC. What needs to happen is Norton should trim the fat off all the software they produce so that PC users can feel that Norton products are fast and responsive.

Duration of ownership:1 Weeks
Strengths: Industry standard; easy to install; uses minimal resources; includes anti-spyware
Weaknesses: Cheaper?!
Overall Evaluation: Installed easily; only one reboot required; includes one year of free updates, which are downloaded automatically and install in the background. Unlike older versions of Norton products, it looks like they have done a "reboot" on the software architecture, as it now uses minimal resources. Boot-up time is not adversely affected. This also includes AntiSpyware, so I don't need to buy SpySweeper anymore!

Duration of ownership:2 Weeks
Strengths: Industry standard consumer grade anti-virus; protect up to 3-PCs
Weaknesses: None
Overall Evaluation: I installed this on my parents computers, as they didn't want the complexities of Norton Internet Security. Install was a snap, and it was good for both of their computers. Note that the 3-user license registration date starts the first time it is installed. So if you install on one computer, then the next one two months later, the one-year of free udpates will be reduced to 10-months on the second computer. It is nice that this product now includes AntiSpyware, as it reduces the need to also get webroot's spysweeper (thus complicating the install on my parents comptuer!). Great value, and great product

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Does a good job of screening viruses. Easy to install. Updates itself. Install it and forget it. 3-User pack good for home or small office.
Weaknesses: none noted
Overall Evaluation: This is an update of previously used Norton anti-virus software. I have used Norton for many years. It does a good job of protecting the computer. Checks email, blocks spyware and scans for viruses. Everything works automatically. Install it and forget it for a year when you need to renew. Updates virus files periodically. The update installed without a hitch.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Easy to use, easy to update, reliable, resonable price.
Weaknesses: None
Overall Evaluation: I have been using Norton Antivirus for several years. It is always reliable and effective. The old version of norton antivirus took a lot of resources and made your computer slow. But I think this version has solved this problem and is faster than norton AV 2007.

Strengths: effective! easy to install!
Weaknesses: no perpentual license.
Overall Evaluation: The norton antivirus is effective in protecting your computers. It always comes with rebates, and often time you can get it for free. however, the license is only for one year, so you always need to keep the old copy and material to qualify for upgrade. norton is one of the best companies in sending back rebates though. quick and easy!

Duration of ownership:2 Weeks
Strengths: Easy to use, easy to update and maintain, affordable
Weaknesses: Slows down your machine
Overall Evaluation: I've been using Norton AntiVirus for more than 5 years, updating it annually. Its been easy to use and maintain but with 2007 and now 2008 editions I've noticed that its taking a lot longer for things to load because "virus scan requested" even for things that are not online, like WORD. I think I'm going to try something different on another machine and see how it does.
