    Duration of ownership:2 Years

    Strengths: Beautiful screen.

Weaknesses: Glitches everywhere in the software, asenine programming, terrible support.

Overall Evaluation: I have had nothing but problems. I have 35 GB of photos on this that I cannot copy off. Every time I connect it to my computer, it freezes and the only way to fix it is to remove the usb cable from the unit. I have an entire 17-day trip to Europe (about 4500 photos) that I will never get. I have called support many, many times and they tell me it

Strengths: Clear display and big capacity

Weaknesses: A little heavey and thick.

Overall Evaluation: Nice stuff, I like it because 1. The 40G capacity. I do not need another CF card for my Canon 20d during travel. 2. Very big and sharp display. It is absolutely attactive to every one. 3. You can view DVD after transfering file to AVI. Format. 4. Music is not bad though not super. It also has some disadvatages: 1. A little heavy and thick. 2. Epson do not provide software to transfer the DVD file, you have to find some by yourself. 3. Battery only can stand around 3 hours. Not a big deal. No addtional charger available from Epson. You have to charge the battery with the machine.

    Duration of ownership:20 Days

    Strengths: Biggest screen and two-slots

Weaknesses: A little heavy, fair sound quality and high price

Overall Evaluation: I compare the product with its competitor for 1.5 months. And fianlly I decide to buy this since: 1. The best screen in the marekt.Very sharp and vivid. 2. High capacity :40G. It should be enough for 5-6 days travel. 3. It could store and read RAW formart. I didn't other machine can do that. 5. Two interior slots for SD and CF card so as my wife and I could share the viewer during our travel. 6. It could store DVD and MP4 for your entertainment when you are on the road. Its shortcoming: 1. Fair sound. 2. Video format is limited. You have to convert it by yourself. EPSON do not provide software to do that. 3. A little thick.

Strengths: Possibly the best screen on a portable storage device, has the ability to play audio and video, built in card readers, 2.5" hard drive makes it possible to hack/upgrade amount of HD storage.

Weaknesses: Software could be better, limitations on what you can watch and listen to, must use a seperate program to convert video files, somewhat slow transfer rates from memory card.

Overall Evaluation: This is an overall good product. I used it recently on a shoot instead of buying more memory cards. I transfered 3 1GB ultra 2 cards without the battery draining to 75%. Transfer rates from the cards were slow however (roughly about 6-10 minutes). This is because the P2000 scans the card, makes sure it has enough storage space for it, transfers the card, verifies that the data has been transfered, and deletes the card.If you're looking for a good video/mp3 player, I would look elsewhere. I feel that this product was meant more for photographers. If you want to play a video, you're going to search for a program that can convert your videos to a format that the P2000 can play. Thats not to say that it cannot play videos well. In fact, once you figure out how to get them to play, this makes a great travel companion.

    Duration of ownership:60 Days

Strengths: - High resolution - Sharp pictures - Built in rechargeable battery

Weaknesses: - Price- A bit slow to cache the images for the first time- Limited video file format

Overall Evaluation: A nice quality picture viewer, which you won't see it from your digital camera. 40 GB internal HD. Expensive, but quality built. A little bit slow to load pictures for the first time. Wish it can play various movie files, not limited to MPEG4 or M-JPEG only.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Excellent resolution screen. Excellent color reproduction.

Weaknesses: Bulky file transfer and album creation. Slow switching between images.

Overall Evaluation: The quality of the images is very high, making this an excellent choice for showing off photos. This device takes the place of the packages of prints that were passed among the relatives. Organizing photos into albums is slow and laborious; it generally must be done on the viewer. Despite the time it takes to arrange the photos into albums, the high visual quality makes this a winner. Battery life is high on a good charge.

    Overall Rating: 4 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:4 Months

Strengths: Brilliant(!) screen, plays movie, very fast RAW support, removable battery, above average battery life

Weaknesses: Almost useless MP3 player function, no audio/video converting/editing software comes with the box, 1-year warranty, flimsy protective case

Overall Evaluation: Clearly, this is the digital portable album with the best LCD display so far, it has very vivid color and can open RAW files directly after images are being transferred to the drive. The speed for opening RAW images is decent too (at least for Canon's CRW an CR2). In fact, I read somewhere that it is the fastest one currently available in the market. The Li+ ion battery is removable and on a single charge it was good enough for me to do about 8x 1GB transfer (assuming no heavy picture browsing). However, file transfer speed is not very impressive. Other than serving as an digital album, all the other multimedia functions seem not very practical, e.g. no screen-off option to save battery power when trying to hear music files, and it does not support long filenames. The software package also is minimal, and so you will have to get your own 3rd party software if you want to use it as a movie player (it only supports MOV by the way). To sum up, if you want a portable storage for a photo trip, I would definitely recommend this, but don't expect it can replace your MP3 player or your movie player etc.

Overall Evaluation: As a media player, though, it's a failure. The problem is it's too picky about the files it'll play. All portable media players have certain format limitations, but the P-2000's are vague (the manual says it plays MPEG-4 files without specifying which of the subtypes it means). We tried a dozen movie files which should have been supported, and even tried to encode our own video. Most of them just elicited a long pause and then an error message. We even had problems with some perfectly good MP3s! Unlike its competitors, Epson doesn't provide software to convert video files into a format that's guaranteed to work. This is a massive missed opportunity. The great screen would have made this a cracking digital video player, but as it is, playing video on it is far too hit and miss to be worth bothering with.

Strengths: Very well built. LCD screen is fantastic! The sound quality is excellent if you use stereo headphones. You can store and view photos and video and also can store and play mp3's. Nice slideshows.

Weaknesses: Battery must be charged inside the unit so you can't have your spare charging separately while you are off using your unit.It renames your mp3's to short names. No shuffle on MP3s.

Overall Evaluation: I love the Epson P2000 as it does just what I wanted it to do. I am into digital photograpy and my primary use is to view, store and share my photos. It does this well. I would not recommend it to anyone who is wanting to use it primarly as an MP3 player. If that is what you are looking for I would suggest getting an Ipod. The unit comes with a nice neoprene type case with a belt loop on it. The file naming system is a bit of a drawback, making it a little more difficult to find what you are looking for. The 3.8" screen is big and beautiful! It supports some camera's RAW photo formats but you cannot zoom in on the view of the RAW files like you can the JPG's. Maximum photo size supported is 8.9 megapixels.
