Overall Rating: 5 Star Review
Duration of ownership:1 Months
Strengths: Quick, lots of capacity, much lower price than bigger name brands. Very reliable. Set at RAW+Large JPEG and ISO 100 in the 40D, it shows an estimated 957 pictures available.
Weaknesses: A little slower than other brands, but at about 1/3 the cost.
Overall Evaluation: I have been using this for about a month and haven't experienced any problems at all in my 40D or Sandisk firewire card reader. If you are shooting lots of bursts with your camera, then go for the faster Extreme III or IV. But if you're like me and you rarely wait for the camera to clear the buffer enough to take another picture, then this card will save you lots of money and you won't notice any speed difference. If you want to see some updated speed comparisons, search for "Rob Galbraith database" and look at how the speeds between the cards differ. In a nutshell, although this is rated at 133x which is 20MB/s, it reads at over 32MB/s. The in-camera 40D write speed is around 6-7MB/s. Keep in mind that generally speaking, the more capacity the flash card has, the slower it will write. So a 2GB 133x card will write quicker than a 16GB 133x card.I have been using Transcend cards for about 4 years now, and have never had a problem with them. It's no wonder they're not afraid to put a lifetime warranty on them.
