Strengths: good image quality
Weaknesses: no close caption.
Overall Evaluation: it didn't work when I first plugged it into my router. I had to upgrade the firmware by directly connecting it to my computer (using cross-over ethernet cable). utilized almost 100% of my old labtop (AMD 1800+ 1.5Ghz). 30% on my dual-core E2160 processor. Overall, it's a pretty good product if you're running the software on a recent processor, P4 or above. hope they'll put the close caption in soon, as well as a built-in video recorder.

Strengths: Ability to stream HD content on my TiVo HD to anywhere with a broadband connection, even my Palm Centro phone; more stable than some of it's competitors.
Weaknesses: Though it takes component inputs, it does not stream in HD quality.
Overall Evaluation: After months of trying other, cheaper place shifting technologies like Orb or Sony's location free TV, I finally plunked down the extra $ for a Slingbox Solo. The Solo seemed the best model, as I have a TiVo HD and unlike the Slingbox Pro, you do not need to buy an HD adapter for the component input. The Slingbox is the most stable of the devices I have tried, and it optimizes the video quality based on your available upload bandwidth. Setup was a snap - took less than 15 minutes. I'm very pleased with the ease of use, video quality, and user interface. Now I can catch all the games no matter where I am. Definitely recommend!

Strengths: Ease of use, Picture Quality
Weaknesses: Price
Overall Evaluation: This is my first Slingbox and I have been using it for about a month. It was easy to set up. I connected it to my TIVO HD box. It works well over my home network. I installed the software on my laptop, desktop computer and HTC AT&T 8525 PDA/Phone. The software is easy to use, although I'm not sure that I'm willing to pay $30 for the phone software. I wish it were free. The phone picture quality isn't great over AT&T's network, but works better over a high speed connection. The PC/Laptop software is free and works great, but you can only use it on 1 device at a time.

Strengths: Easy setup, very concise and clear instructions, great tech support
Weaknesses: None
Overall Evaluation: This is my scond SlingBox. Two years ago I purchased the original Slingmedia box and it has been working flawlessly ever since. Slingmedia has improved setup vastly and automated the network setup process. I get a terrific picture on both my Macbook Pro and iMac. You can have several Slingboxes setup and control them all from within one program. I can't wait until Slingmedia releases its mobile version for the iPhone.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Very good customer support from the company website, very prompt responses to online questions.
Weaknesses: The box is kind of big, like almost as wide as the cable box, and it
Overall Evaluation: This is a great product for people who only have one tv and one computer and argue over who gets to watch their show! The only thing that would make it better is if they included compatibility with more types of cell phones.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: - Has connectivity ready for component cables- Best looking so far in the SlingBox family
Weaknesses: - No coax input- Quality didn't seem to improve from Sling Classic even with HDTV component connection thru a home network
Overall Evaluation: This is my 2nd slingbox. I sent the other one to my parents abroad and got the Slingbox solo. This definitely looks the best so far in the slong family as the slingbox pro just looks like a brick! This is a bit smaller and sleeker. Video quality hasn't changed from slingbox classic. However, the extra USB port is very intriguing. I'm hoping one of its used will be to enable us to record tv programs remotely onto an external HDD in the near future.
