Strengths: Great product
Weaknesses: no weaknesses noted at this time
Overall Evaluation: I received my product in a timely manner. The mac os x leopard product that I purchased exceeded my expectations. I was able to upgrade an older ppc mac to current os standards easily. The installation of the product was easy and did not require special assistance from support professionals or friends. The product works well and currently I have no problems with its operation.

Strengths: Minor feature changes (rather than major), easy upgrade routine
Weaknesses: A bit expensive for minor updates
Overall Evaluation: To begin full circle, I had no difficulties installing Leopard. I've now done this twice on two MacBooks -- one on a clean hard drive, and another as an upgrade from Tiger. No difficulties in either case. Just follow the prompts and it works. I also upgraded right away to 10.5.1, and am now running 10.5.2.I've not yet taken advantage of all the major new features, but have found some very useful items. Cover flow in Finder is wonderful, even including the preview of nearly every document file type in the file icon. Preview now allows for manipulation of PDFs, a welcome feature. Spaces is useful to have several desktops (when you don't already have a multiple monitor setup.) I haven't yet used Time Machine, but am looking at implementing it soon. Stacks are nice on the dock, though I prefer the file menu view (what was in 10.4, and is now available in 10.5.2.) Performance over Tiger seems to be either the same or even slightly faster. I've noticed other minor improvements (such as better WiFi/Airport connections). For some, this upgrade might not be compelling. I have to be honest and say I upgraded more to say I have the latest and greatest than all the new features. I haven't and won't use everything new (I don't use Mail or iChat for example, I prefer Thunderbird and Adium respectively), but this upgrade hasn't disappointed so far. Vista can't do half of what Mac OS X can with all the beauty. And the install was so simple compared to Windows (I rarely have done Windows upgrades, rather preferring to start fresh.) If you like (or perhaps love Macs), the upgrade is still a no-brainer.

Strengths: easy install, reasonable price, great product additions to your Mac
Weaknesses: none really
Overall Evaluation: I love Leopard!!! It upgraded so much that I don't even know where to start. The desktop is nicer and now there is Quick Look to see what you have open faster. As far as upgrades go: Finder, Apple Mail, IChat, and Safari. There is also a program called Time Machine which is a backup for your computer essentially and lets you go back in time if you make a mistake. Boot Camp is also nice if you are used to a Windows machine because it allows you to run Windows programs. As a basic user, I am most impressed with the Apple Mail upgrade as it allows for neat stationary themes, Boot Camp for Windows, and Time Machine to take care of mistakes. I hope to become more expierenced and appreciate Leopard more and Apple does make it easy to learn.

Strengths: Runs fast,Spaces, Visual explorer, time machine.
Weaknesses: had problem upgrading from Tiger.
Overall Evaluation: I had 2 macbooks which i purchased few months before leopard was released. Tiger has been pretty good but i had to purchase Leopard to get bootcamp since my wife still need windows for all her work. Its sad that apple took bootcamp off as a free download. Leopard seems to be noticeably faster on the same hardware than Tiger. I usually skip a release and upgrade every other releases and even though i bought it to get the bootcamp software to dual boot to XP i think leopard is worth the money.

Strengths: Ease of use, attractive interface, stability.
Weaknesses: Time Machine, Spaces
Overall Evaluation: I'm working with OSX 10.5.1 on both a G5 and a MacBook Pro (Intel) and on neither does Time Machine work properly. I've spent five frustrating days trying to backup my Macs using the app, but there are too many glitches. It just won't work properly. Although Spaces works as advertised it's not a real time saver--it's more eye candy than anything else. Considering the cost of upgrading (including purchasing a half dozen upgrades for other applications I use) I definitely feel that 10.5.1 wasn't worth the investment. Shame on you Apple!

Strengths: Really cool visual explorer that lets you see your documents in a preview but much more detailed than Vista. Has a nice docking station and makes upgrading super easy.
Weaknesses: I don't really see a whole lot of change besides a few aesthetics. If I hadn't gotten such a good deal I doubt I would have shelled the bucks out.
Overall Evaluation: I hate Vista and am not one of those zealot Mac Guys so you'll get nothing but a pure review from me. I can't stand how unstable Vista is and how obnoxious it's security features are, so needless to say when I got the Mac upgrade it was simple easy and didn't ask me a slew of ignorant security questions. It just works, and although the changes aren't major they are there and the price is decent for an upgrade and won't have you wondering why you left XP. Instead you'll say wow this is nice simple but nice.

Strengths: does seem faster than Tiger, Spaces is very cool
Weaknesses: The iCal info drawer is gone.
Overall Evaluation: The install was uneventful and I'm pleased to say that I've encountered no real problems yet. Spaces is probably my favorite new feature. Time Machine seems like it will be very promising after a few rounds of enhancements.

Strengths: More polished look an feel, Easy install, Time Machine, Mail, Spaces.
Weaknesses: Menu bar hard to read, Apple should have provided a discount for new computers.
Overall Evaluation: My laptop was only about 3 months old (was hoping Apple would offer a discount for newer machine) and installation went quickly and without any issues. (I upgraded rather doing a clean install.) One of the first things I noticed was a bit of a negative (overall few and minor)....they chose to make the menu bar translucent and I find it difficult to read. My computer definitely seems to run faster now, not a huge difference, but noticeable. Marked improvements to both email and networks. Time Machine is an excellent back-up program. The first time took quite some time, but now the periodic updates are extremely fast. Overall, I very much like the more polished look and feel of Leopard. Great OS, but not quite perfect. My real rating would be 4.5 stars, but since I can't I gave it 4.

Strengths: More refined looking user interface than Tiger or Panther.Runs fine on PowerMac G4 Dual 1GHz and Dual 1.25GHzDownload stacks is a great featureSupports more 3rd party peripherals (DVD & wireless
Weaknesses: Slow on iMac 1GHz even with 768KB SRAMSafari doesn't have built-in plug-ins to run Windows Media apps on the web. Sleep mode messes up iMac LCD screen
Overall Evaluation: I upgraded from Panther to Tiger to Leopard on three Macs in my house. It is always nice to have an OS upgrade to get a better UI and features. The only problem is that when Leopard runs on my iMac 15" 1GHz, the LCD screen does not shutdown properly when the OS tell the system to go to sleep. There are bright vertical burn-in lines when it tries to go to sleep and leaves marks on the screen, which eventually go away after a few hours. I need new/faster Macs to maximize Leopard's potential.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Improvement upon past versions of Mac OS X. Faster. Seems more polished. Spaces are a great implementation of multiple desktops.
Weaknesses: Stacks are a neat concept, but I don't like the way they appear on the dock.
Overall Evaluation: I have been using Mac OS X from version 10.1. This is by far the most polished version so far. The interfaces are largely unified and it definitely seems faster on my MacBook (Core 2 Duo). Spaces is a very neat feature--multiple desktops well executed and integrated in the Mac environment. Stacks are less well executed and will take some time to get used to. I preferred having links to folders on the Dock. Overall, a worthwhile upgrade.
