Strengths: best RPG ever made
Weaknesses: starting to show its age
Overall Evaluation: I've noticed a couple people complain about the load times (especially during battles). There's a quick and easy fix for PS2 owners: In the main menu under the PS1 Driver, there's a setup option for "Fast Loading". When you turn that on, the game will load as fast as the original cartridge did. Problem solved. . And now for the game: Chrono Trigger is one of, perhaps even *the best*, role-playing game ever made. Chrono Trigger has a strong appeal for me, because of the time travel/sci-fi theme. You and your characters travel across several thousand years (from medieval times to a distant, robotic future), in your quest to beat back the bad guys. The battle system allows you to chain your characters together for extra-powerful attacks, which is a unique innovation. Finally, how the game ends is never the same. Like a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure, the ending varies depending upon how you play the game. Chrono Triggers offers lots of replayability, and is a true masterpiece. .As for FF4, the game is somewhat weak. Many call FF4 their favorite final fantasy, but I was not too impressed. I'd put it somewhere in the middle. It was originally designed to run on the 1980's 8-bit Nintendo, but at the last minute FF4 was upgraded to run on the just-released 16-bit Super Nintendo, and it comes across as primitive, both in graphics and story. Not as good as what came later. Bottom Line: Buy Final Fantasy 4/Chrono Trigger right now... mainly for Chrono Trigger, but also to satisfy your curiosity about FF4. If you're like me, you'll cherish it forever.

Strengths: 2 games for the price of 1. New cinemas added.
Weaknesses: Load times not found in the original versions.
Overall Evaluation: Final Fantasy Chronicles is a collection of both Final Fantasy 4 and Chrono Trigger. Both games were previously available on the Super Nintendo and now Square has decided to release them on the Playstation. Both games are exact ports of the original games with new cinemas scenes added in. There is also more loading time since the original games were in cartridge format. This is really the only problem with the games but it does hurt a little bit. It can really take you out of the experience when you must wait a few seconds before each battle begins. In the end though, this collection is a lot easier to find than the Super Nintendo versions. These are two great games everyone can now enjoy.

Strengths: You get Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 4 on one disc.
Weaknesses: Old graphics could be a turn off for some.
Overall Evaluation: Final Fantasy: Chronicles is a collection of two RPGs. You get Final Fantasy 4 and Chrono Trigger. I really don't know why they call this Final Fantasy Chronicles when you only get one Final Fantasy game, but go figure. These two games are instant classics for any RPG fan. Both are memorable and enjoyable even now. Chrono Trigger even has character designs by the person who did Dragon Ball series. Give the game 5 stars if you are a fan of RPGs and 4 stars if you don't like old graphics.

Strengths: New FMV added, two great games in one package, Chrono Trigger still stands the test of time.
Weaknesses: Load times, bad sound due to poor emulation.
Overall Evaluation: Final Fantasy IV (or II if you prefer) was my first experience with RPGs. The epic storyline and stirring music just sucked me into the game and made me a RPG fan for life. While it has not stood the test of time (in terms of graphics or story) as well as some of its counterparts from the 16-bit days, it's still a great game and great reference material. On the other hand, Chrono Trigger has held up quite well. That's not surprising since it was made at the pinnacle of 2D gaming. It was probably the first RPG that didn't have random battles (you can see the enemies before you enter battle). It's been 10-years since Chrono and I'm surprised more games still haven't scrapped the random battle crap. The graphics, soundtrack, story and multiple endings are what make this game so great. The new FMV scenes are great additions since the art actually matches the original character designs by Akira Toriyama. The only thing that would prevent me from giving my highest recommendation to wards this package is the poor emulation. There is a lot of load times and for some reason the sound is actually worse on the CD format. All in all, two great games in one package. You can't go wrong with these classics.

Strengths: Two great Square games in one package.
Weaknesses: You have to like the old-school RPGs. The graphics are not anything special (in today's standards).
Overall Evaluation: You get two great Square Enix (formally Squaresoft) games for the price of one. Sure, they're older games, but they're classics. This is a great chance to replay your old-time favorites from the Super NES days. Or if you're new to the "Final Fantasy" and / or the "Chrono" games, this is a great place to see where the newer games get their backbones from. When two classic games are bundled together like this, how can you go wrong?

Strengths: This game has two FABULOUS games. Collector's item. Chrono Trigger is the best game EVER. Multiple endings (Chrono Trigger)
Weaknesses: Load times not apparent on originals cartridge versions. Not as much CG as expected.
Overall Evaluation: This is a MUST have for any classic RPG player out there. Chrono Trigger is by far one of my favs. When I found out it was being re-released I was so happy because my cartridge had bit the dust. I have waited long enough to get this but it was well worth the wait. It even made playing through it more exciting because I hadn't played it in so long. Also I have to give Final Fantasy props because it again sets the standard for storytelling from Square/ENIX. I am also love it because it has chocobos ; )

Strengths: 2 amazing games for a low price
Weaknesses: none
Overall Evaluation: These are two of the best old school games ever. The original SNES versions of these games were some of the best and most groundbreaking RPG's of the time. Its awesome that they're now available on PSOne with added fmv's. All the nostalgia of the originals is captured in this compilation for a really low price.

Strengths: * more or less an exact port of the original Japanese version ( new to people who've only played the U.S. version ) which brings back memories!* includes two games for the price of one
Weaknesses: * the added movies for FF4 are somewhat weak. Seem rather quickly thrown together. * It would have been nice to incorporate some of the newer UI tweaks that are present in the more recent FF games.
Overall Evaluation: First of all, if all you want is to play that game that once took your breathe away 13 years ago, then that $20 or less you'll be spending on this game will be more than worth it. Having said that, if you're like me then you're going to play the game spoiled with all the recent FF advancements in mind. I'm not talking about the 3D characters and such as I'm all for story over eye candy. What I'm talking about is usability. Back in the day I guess I never really noticed it (or maybe I forgot), but now that I'm used to all the UI enhancements present in the modern FF games (i.e. being able to buy items in random amounts, being able to see how many of the kind I already have, seeing how much of a difference the new armor will make, etc...) I find it somewhat annoying that those features are not found in this classic. Now all that becomes nitpicking once you delve into the story and totally immerse yourself into the game as you did 13 years ago. For those of you who think the dinky low-res 2d characters and the lack of cool sound effects will get in the way of modern RPG gamers... well... look around the saturated 3D RPG market now and ask yourself how many of those have a solid story line and gameplay that parallels FF4. I for one find the somewhat mature theme dealt with in FF4 quite refreshing to revisit after I've managed to grow (and hopefully have matured) 13 more years into my life. I'm giving it 4 stars simply because I wish Square would have added some UI enhancements to the game itself without taking away from the overall gameplay... Yeah, yeah... I know I might be asking too much, but hey... It's my review. ;)

Strengths: Gives you two games for the price of one. The new anamie fmvs are the best i've ever seen. Crono Trigger has a very deep story line. And Final Fantesy........ well what is there to say?
Weaknesses: Final Fantesy 4 needs updateing in the graphics department. Crono Trigger is a littel long but is well worth it.
Overall Evaluation: I've never seen a game that was more appeling. The final fantesy empier and square soft makeing the best game. Never (i think) will i see a game set this great.
